  1. I would like to think that they didnt cut me open and place a foriegn object in my body for no reason! I am gonna give it all I have and if I fail then at least i cannot say I didnt try. I wont fail though because I want it
  2. WOW!! a waiting list. I went to a seminar and then had my first appt. two weeks later. That was in May. I was banded October 19th
  3. I am also nervous. Sometimes I wonder if I can do this but I went this far so now I have to try!
  4. That sounds great! I will talk a look...I do get tired of eating the same things day after day! Only 6 more days for me than on to solid food!! YAY
  5. I think its odd that you do not get a copy of the approval letter. I have Aetna and they faxed the approval to my surgen and then mailed me a copy. I am keeping that just in case they come back later and try to say they never approved it
  6. Welcome...I know what you mean. I have been on mushie foods for awhile and I eat the same thing every day. Cottage cheese, sugar free jello and sugar free pudding. Oh yes and tomato soup..lol
  7. Be careful...I accidently ripped a scab right off by scratching...ewwwwieeee lol
  8. I think most doctors just want you to lose a certain amount of weight. I dont really think most of them care how you get there as long as you do....Im sure im wrong in some cases but for the most part I think the general idea is just to get that specified amount of weight off
  9. I got my band October 19th too! Are you already on to solid food???? Im waiting patiently....I look forward to the solid food stage again lol
  10. YAY!! Thats awesome....I will be rooting for the jacket to fit right when you get it!
  11. Every time I read a lap band horror story on this website....it starts with "i called 1-800-GET THIN"
  12. I am only about 3 weeks post-op. I think once we heal and are able to exercise more the weight will start to come off. Also dont decide about a fill right now. See how you feel once your body is all the way healed
  13. It all depends on you...if you are willing to work for it then you CAN lose much more than 50 pounds. If you are not willing to change your eating habits then you CAN lose less than 50 pounds
  14. Thanks everyone! I am feeling a little hungrier now that some more time has passed. They have me scheduled for my first fill on Dec. 1st. I wish they could have done it before Thanksgiving because by then I can have solid foods. Oh well hopefully I will work that day and will miss dinner. I know they need to wait 6 weeks though
  15. How much do you need to lose? 1 years seems like a very long time! I only had to lose 5 pounds before they would do the surgery
  16. When I was on my pre-op diet with Dr. Jessee, I did 2 protein shakes a day and 1 low calorie meal. I probaby ate around 800 calories a day maybe a little more. I think 600 is way to low
  17. When I get under 200 pounds...45 more pounds to go lol maybe I will buy myself something nice(new clothes will be a must at that point)...maybe a vacation when I reach the final goal!
  18. Good Luck! I was approved with Aetna on the first run but I had a BMI of over 40 and high blood pressure.
  19. 12 month diet does seem like a long time. I agree with the others however. Use that time to prepeare yourself for what is coming. Learn new eating habits so on and so forth. That way when you get your band you will do excellent! I mean what is 1 more year of your life to change your life forever?
  20. I dont think you will be nearly as hungry or able to eat as much once you get a fill. I think this is pretty standard for the first month after surgery. I am only two weeks out but I can already feel the hunger creeping back up.
  21. I think if some stranger came up to me and handed me thier doctor's card they would be picking thier teeth up off the ground...that is the rudest dumbest thing ive heard...Most folks are aware of WLS...if they wanna know more they will do the research themselves....
  22. Thats most likely it. Thats ok if it keeps me from over eating I will take it! lol
  23. I got to move on the mushie food stage today!!! YAY! Anyway I had half a small dish of low fat cottage chesse and a sugar free pudding and jello...I AM FULL....I just got my band two weeks ago and have no fill..how is that even possible??
  24. I forgot to add EXERCISE! That helps bunches! I wish you all the luck in the world!
