I am sorry that so sucks. I had a choice to go with an in network doctor but mine is out of network but I was told whatever they pay he will accept as full payment. Could the surgeon at least let you make payments to him? 85% is a pretty generous amount. Would you consider looking for another surgeon or at least an out of network one. Maybe if you tell them that they will work something out. You are the customer if they want to keep you they should accommodate you. Just saying

My my co-insurance is suppose to be 20% but my Surgeon will take my insurances 80% as payment. I am glad because I wouldn't be able to do that. Especially because it would be for my husband and I. Good Luck!

I really did not need one to get the lapband because my bmi is high enough but after meeting with the pulmologist he said my neck was thick and I should have one done. I am sure the fact that my insurance paid for it was a factor too. I told him that I really don't even snore and I never woke up short of breath. But he did a split test. The first couple of hours I slept regular and then around 1 am the put the mask on me and I slept until 5 am with the mask on. I did pull it off once. He came back in to put it back on. I swear that I had a dream that he told me to take it off LOL He said that I it happened again he would have to put a full mask on. I still do not know if I have sleep apnea. I guess I don't cause I never got a call with results.

WOW!!! Hopefully it will never happen but now I know the Drano recipe and thank goodness its not the real Drano you buy in the house cleaning aisle.

Being that you have a history of bloods clots definitely stay in the hospital they will monitor and make sure that that is prevented. Look around here, read threads, there's lots of positive things. Please usually knock what they don't understand. Good luck!

You are a lot like me...always looking for my parents approval. Well I had an Ah-Ha moment at my psych appointment last week...and that I am always trying to prove myself to my parents especially my dad. From my career, too my personal life and even proving that I could be my drivers license in the first road test at 17! the list goes on and on...and then it hit me like a ton of bricks....when I was small (like under 10) I was very thin. I hated to eat because my tonsils always bothered me and I remember my parents always being worried and upset that I was so thin and didn't eat. I think I unconsciously pack on the weight to prove them wrong or to make them happy! O-M-G I don't blame them because being a parent I understand their worry because my son is the same way. With him I just know not to give him a hard time. BUT now that I am heavy and my parents would like me to be thin so once again I am trying to prove them wrong...I have to break that cycle and do this for me and only me so I can be a better mother, wife, daughter and friend! My mom still shakes her head with uncertainty about this surgery, but I am doing me this time so I don't care. She is supportive because she knows I made my mind up, she'll come around and by next year she will be telling me it was the best thing I ever did for myself! Especially when I start going to family function again after avoiding them for the last 8 years!

That's great! I too lost weight on my own many times but guess what? it came back but if I had a band in me I could have tried to stop the weight gain sooner. For me Losing is the easy part, keeping it off is the hard part. If you ever stray you may find yourself wanting to fill your band and it will be there for you wether you need it or not. That's is he bonus of being banded

I understand that our relationship with food will change but most cooks/chef are thin. I understand your mental conflict. We just have to relearn how to love food without it taking control of our minds and bodies. You know, like normal people do. I am hoping our band will b*tch slap us into reality if we start over eating. Lastly this is your turn to help yourself out. Only you alone can go through this journey. You can do it and give your dad a gift by living a happy life and a healthy one for many years. Means a lot to a parent to see their children happy and living their best life. Now get on your journey with a positive attitude cause you can do it, just believe it for yourself!

First I like to say congrats and thank you sharing. I have been following few people and after their surgery they don't update. For us newbies that are still in pre-op it's good to hear other's experience. I intend to return the favor soon Secondly, although it was sad that you miscarried ...I would say that your unborn child served a purpose. It was you ah-ha moment. Everyone's life serves a purpose in this world and for him or her it was perhaps to save your life, for you to get healthy and live longer for your other children. That child will always be in heaven watching over you while you go on this journey and into a new part of your life. Good luck and wish all the success!

Thanks for the update. Us pre-op newbies are always looking for positive outcomes. BTW have you found it hard mentally at times or fairly easy?
