Do you drink anything while you eat?
After quitting Diet Soda cold turkey, this will be my next thing. Hopefully by the time I have the surgery, I will be able to not miss Diet Soda and eat without drinking. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Not losing weight after 7 weeks!
I want to start by saying I am not banded. OK....now I want to say... Sounds like you hit a plateau that you didn't expect now that you have the lapband BUT CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your weight loss has been incredible! You are doing all the right things and you are losing inches. You are too focused on the numbers on your scale (I know its hard to not get upset about the numbers). My advice is keep going to the doctor. When you go to the doctor maybe ask if you need to change up your diet, calorie or Protein intake. Good Luck and enjoy your weight loss..200's is just around the corner!

Diet Soda Addict
I thought that diet soda could cause slippage of the band...no? Also the no drinking with food may take a little getting use to.

Sharilo--- "It was cold and bubbly and the syrup to carbonation ratio was perfect" OMG...your description was fantastic. Almost sounded like a romance novel lol...but I understand exactly how you feel. I am pre-op so I can still drink it but as soon as it is all gone from my home, I am going to try quitting cold turkey.

Fallen off then wagon; Please help!!
Well I will start by saying I am NOT banded. I feel the same though about the gym. Last year I lost 40lbs by working out and this year I am up 50 lbs. I know I need to get to the gym but I am embarrassed to see the instructors reaction as they see me bigger. BUT I know I must get back on the saddle. I am sure the gym instructors and your doctor have seen it all. I know if I make it to the gym, I am working out. For me its a matter of just making it there. I am hoping to get there in the next couple of weeks. The reason why I am getting the band because I can lose it but can't keep it off. I am afraid of failure but I know that when I lose it I intend on using the band as a tool. Which is what you need to do right now. You already have it. Its a matter of getting it filled. Call your insurance and inquire about the fills. If they paid for your surgery they usually cover the fills. All the hard work for you to get the band you can figure out a way to get it filled. I understand $300 is alot but just start saving. In no time you will have the $300. Worse case scenario wait until tax return and just try to eat right in the meantime. We all know what we have to do, now we just have to do it!!! Good Luck!

Single Incision Lapband
Well we shall see. On the phone I was told that he does it but he doesn't really like to do it in one incision. I am sure he will tell me at the consult. I bet it will all depend on the day of surgery etc., But it would be nice to just have one incision in the belly button. At this point though I just want to be skinny

Diet Soda Addict
My husband said that about the caffeine. HMMMM maybe I should switch to sport drinks with caffeine? Or is that bad too? I made my mind up. When all the soda in the house is gone I am NOT buying anymore so I guess I will quit it cold turkey but I will need another althernative.

Single Incision Lapband
Really???? The video on the website demonstrates all through a belly button hole. Are your incision noticeable?

Single Incision Lapband
My surgeon performs a single incision lapband. Still waiting on the consult. Just curious if anyone here got the single incision. Does it really make a huge difference?

Diet Soda Addict
MIMI --"I was a soda junkie to the max and haven't had one in 3 years and I love the money I have saved as well as the time and gas $$ saved from not searching for sales." Ain't that the truth. I have to honest with you when I thought about the surgery the first thing that came to my mind was "NO WAY". I quit smoking and I have to quit bad food the only thing I have left is soda. BUT now I am sort of getting annoyed that I am addicted to my soda. I have 2 cans a day but I can't picture not having it. I search for sales and I panic when I run low in the house or when the vending machine at work is sold out. ARRRRRGH I am fed up and thinking its the best thing to do is quit and it is not going to get in the way of me losing weight. Maybe I will switch over to seltzer first then of all the carbonation. I will miss it dearly. As far as coffee I have to risk the indegestion and have my 1 morning cup. Also how soon can you drink after eating? I am a sipper but I do like to sip a little bit while I eat.

Diet Soda Addict
At first it was the main reason why I didnt want the lapband but now I getting sick of my addiction to the soda anyways. I am nervous that it will be difficult though. Also the fact that I can't have any carbonated drinks makes it harder.

Diet Soda Addict
My biggest fear about the lapband is having to quit Diet Soda. I am addict. I realize with the lapband I can not have diet soda, seltzer or beer Beer I like to indulge only once in a while BUT soda I drink it everyday. I feel that I should start trying to kick my habit before the surgery so it will be easier. I quit smoking cold turkey but food and soda is a HUGE problem. Also what about caffeine all together. Is it necessary to give up caffeine or just before the surgery? Any tips on how to quit PLEASE pass it along.

Seminar to Surgery - How Long?
WOW!!! 30 days. I was told that I could have it in 10 weeks possibly less. My consult is next Wednesday and then I want to hit the floor running with the other appointments needed. My husband and I are both doing it so I will have to appointments according to his schedule, on Wednesdays when the kids are in school he is off, I will schedule them. Maybe I could schedule more than 1 appointment each Wednsday to get it done fast.

FEELING DISCOURAGED :(
I guess we all want to get this surgery FAST but sometimes its best we take our time and do all of the tests required. My surgeon requires an overnight stay at the hospital. Even though I would rather sleep in my own bed, I dont mind being in a place where I could be monitored. Good Luck!

Opinion Needed...Band or Sleeve?
I am going to my consult next Wednesday. I am sure the doctor will talk to me about both the band and sleeve. My husband likes the sleeve idea for himself because it does not require fills. I am on the fence. We both are embarking on this journe together and we have been told that it could happen in 10 weeks or less. I value opinions so.... What are the pros and cons and I would like to hear opinions as to why you made the decision to do one over the order and are you happy with the decision or do you wish you would have done the other procedure? THANKS in advance!!!

Decision made, Appointment made BUT will I fail?
I am 100% sure! I am not turning back this time. In 2004 that was the last time I was able to buy clothes in a regular store. It took so much hard work. I was going to the gym 5 days a week and working out 2 hours a day and doing south beach. I made it down to about 167 but then after kid # 2 I gained it back. I did manage to lose 40lbs last year but gained 50 this year! I have had enough! Weight only became an issue for me when I turned 19-20 years old. At 36, I feel this addiction to food has to come to an end so I can live again without obessing about my weight. I want to free myself!

Decision made, Appointment made BUT will I fail?
Xavier-- That is what I needed to hear. My husband and I have done it so many times and always gain it back. A couple of weeks ago as I was starting weight watchers again I just started crying. I was crying because I knew the hard work ahead of me. The hours at the gym and the food sacrifices that it takes to lose weight. The worse part was knowing that after all that there would be a strong chance that it would all come back. A week later I remembered the promise that I made to myself last year. Another waste of a year...this year lapband! I am eager and hoping that this pre surgery process goes smoothly and fast because I am too afraid to change my mind. I am eager to get in the gym with the band and really start seeing my new self int he mirror!!!! THANKS!!!!!!

Decision made, Appointment made BUT will I fail?
So after 16 years of struggling, up and down, weight watchers, south beach, low carb, cleanses, 3 hour gym days and the list goes on and on...I have finally decided to get the lap band. I told myself last year that if I could not successfully lose it on my own with diet and excerise that I would get the surgery. I realized that after all these years, I am just tired of the struggle and I need a hand. I realized 40 is around the corner and I need to put an end to this struggle. So my decision is made and my consult appointment too. My husband and I are both going to go through this journey. He started his journey in 2008 and never went through with it. He successfully lost the weight but of course after all that hard work he has gained it back. We both are 100% on board with getting the lapband and he is considering the sleeve. My only fear is , will it fail? I don't even want to tell many people because if I don't succeed I don't want to embarass myself. Of course I realize that all the years of failing at diets I have no confidence that this will work. I have heard stories that many have gained it back or that the process is really slow. I am willing to put the work in and workout etc., I just want to succeed. Anyone else going through this or has gone through this that could give me some words of encouragement?
