My Friend is Trying To Talk Me Out of The Band
Shades of my older daughter. She really flipped out. Still will not talk to me about it. But change my mind... NEVER!!! It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Take you friend with you so she gets educated too, and maybe you will find a supporter after all!

enough protein
You should not have problems with protein if you are eating the right portions. Carbs are for gravy, you should get energy from protein.

Pre-op anxiety?
Anxiety and nervous are perfectly normal to feel right now. Keep yourself busy and focus on other things for now. Or... get busy preparing for the pre and port op diets. Shop for protein drinks and powders that you like. Order UnJury Chocolate Splendor online. Everyone loves it!

Doctor filled band half full during surgery
Depending on the size of the band, most docs leave some fluid in the band during surgery. If you do not feel hungry I would not automatically schedule a fill. Just go in for the check up and discuss with your medical team.

port site
The port site is very slow to heal... 3-4 weeks. b If you are concerned or it is oozing any at all, I would call the doctors office to double check with them.

Low Calorie intake Is it healthy??
This varies person to person. In the post-op phase my nut said just get in the protein don't worry about calories. Now I eat the right size portions and do not track calories at all. It is all unique to the individual, that's why we have nutritionists imo.

How can I get my family to support me?
Might I suggest that take one or more of them with you to the consults and seminars. The more they know about the process, the less fear, uncertainty and doubt (AKA FUD Factor) will cloud their judgement. Buy a book and ask them all to read it. Ask them for their support to help make yourself healthier. Gather statistics about failed diets... 96% fail in the long run, and 94% succeed with Lap Band. Dot write them off yet. Never, Ever Give up! Family is too important!
