January 31, 201313 yr How does everyone get enough protein during the day? I find it hard to eat enough protein while getting in some carbs (otherwise I have no energy) I don't eat meat but do eat seafood
January 31, 201313 yr I aim for 20g of protein per meal minimum. My nutritionist told me I should be getting at least 60g of protein per day so that's how I do it.
January 31, 201313 yr If I can manage to get an entire Isopure down...that is 40g right there...REALLY helps with the overall Protein intake. I don't bother with anything "special" that is less than 10g. I don't want to waste my time and pouch space. Isopure, Zone Bars, and Beans (I love refried beans!) gets me to my protien goals...but it is a struggle and commitment.
January 31, 201313 yr You should not have problems with protein if you are eating the right portions. Carbs are for gravy, you should get energy from protein.
January 31, 201313 yr Shrimp is loaded with protein and really good. I had some for lunch today and I believe it's around 21 g for 3 oz. I supplement with a protein shake or protein bar (Quest bar) if my numbers are running low. And I love cheese. Cottage cheese and peaches is good, that's about 14 or 15 grams, Danon Light and Fit Greek is good, love the Cherry flavor and the carb count is much better than most other Greek yogurts.
January 31, 201313 yr I do light n fit greek yogurt with a pure protein bar, lunch 2.5ozof Turkey breast on whole wheat, dinner 3.5-4oz of chicken breast or Turkey burger from ground Turkey 99% ff
January 31, 201313 yr Author Thanks everyone, I think I'll break it up during the day and snack on half off protein bars.
January 31, 201313 yr Author Be care full. the body only absorbs so much as a time. It won't absorb all 40g How much will it absorb in one sitting?
January 31, 201313 yr Check out my post entitled Delicious Smoothie (I think it's one or two posts after this one). Also try steamed edamame with sea salt. If you've never had it, just ask here. We will tell you how to prepare and eat. It's easy, yummy and kind of fun! Also of course add nuts and the occasional peanut butter or almond butter. I know these are all basic answers and don't entirely answer your question but still I HTH.
January 31, 201313 yr I've had the same problem getting in my protein in a day since I'm not eating that much. I found protein shots at Walmart. There is 2 different ones at my Walmart. One shot has 25g and the other brand has 42g of protein! 0g fat 0g sugar and 180 calories. I like those. Not much to drink and they taste pretty good!
February 1, 201313 yr I start the day...everyday for about 18 months now...with about 40gm of protein in a "Custom Smoothie" I make in the blender....
February 1, 201313 yr @B52. What is the recipe for the Custom Smoothie? Thanks for the help In a blender....I start with 100% whey...25gm, then I add "Pro-Stat 64" a sugar free pure liquid Protein, 30ml (shot glass) for 15gm..... Mixed with 8oz Water or skim milk if you prefer, add your favorite fresh fruit, Peanut Butter, banana, just about anything you can imagine...even coffee....summertime add a ice cube...can also add yogurt or ice cream....and also non thickening Fiber powder.....always below 300 calories total......no solid Breakfast can match it....and I feel, the advantages all day, can tell when I miss one... I've been doing this for some time...and it was not because of the band...it was recommended by my cardiologist to name just one... When I got banded, it became a daily practice since post-op....
