  1. You should have your doctor prescribe a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) Like nexium or prilosec. I am on one and it makes a world of difference.
  2. I am already trying to get my protein from my food. And when I am needing a boost I will have a shake. I am on mushies right now so to help I am taking one shake a day. When I am on solid food I will try to get all my protein from food and only if I am low will I supplement with a shake. Even so I could eat half a cup of cottage cheese and get 15g of protein. Just make sure you are getting the minimum of 60 - 70 g of protein.
  3. I hear you I went from the occasional email to getting over 30 emails daily on just people who replied to threads that I replied too.. Alex can you fix this please.
  4. Congratulations! You are an inspiration to me. Keep up the great work.
  5. 5 day pouch test is when you try to detox your system and get back to a healthier way of eating. It is a couple of days of liquids, mushies soft proteins and then back to normal proteins. Helps if you have been taking in too many bad carbs and need to get the monkey off your back.
  6. Yah I was dreaming of the food and eating it and after I ate it I was like what I can't eat that. I have stopped having the dreams.
  7. Congrats! I flew 1st class into San Diego and it was the best decision ever I was able to get a last minute upgrade that was cheap and I jumped on it. You will definitly want the 1st class seat heading home as I didnt and was slightly uncomfortable trying to make myself smaller in the space so I was not crowding the person next to me. The A team will take great care of you! This journey has been the best decision I have made in a long time! Keep us posted on your journey.
  8. ohh quantity varies with each person. So it is hard to say I have just moved to mushies and can only each 2oz of chili in one sitting (sitting takes me almost half hour to eat it). I have heard others can tolerate up to 4 oz. It really depends on swelling how much is still there and length of stomach. I still have to have at least one Protein shake a day to meet my protein intake. As I progress through to more solid foods I will hopefully get all my protein from food and only a shake once in awhle. I could be dreaming but I am hopeful.
  9. Have you been monitoring your measurements as well? Sometimes when you stall on the weight loss you are still "losing" inches as your body re-adjusts. When you start to get down bring out a pair of pants that you used to wear and try them on. That should cheer you up.
  10. It does pass. I am almost at week 3 and the thoughts about food are definitly less for me. For a few days after surgery I was dreaming of eating different foods. Those only lasted a few days.
  11. I bought a jacket in a really small size because it was a goal to reach. It was something that I was obsessing over for a year and finally it went down in price. I want to wear it when I will be at my slower weight loss. To me you are not over doing it. Good to have visual goals!
  12. BBJ I agree what a really awkward moment. I guess I am going to have to practice answers in my head when I see people I have not seen in ages and they ask me the same types of questions. I agree it is best not to let any one at school know. You have to be around them throughout the week and it would be difficult if they were opposed to what you did.
  13. Glad you are over the nausea. Everyday gets better.
  14. Congratulations! I am amazed at your photos. I can not wait to get to goal now.
  15. Have you tried a nasal rinse? I use a netti pot and it clears out the sinuses. Your sneezing might be allergy related so a good clean of the sinuses would be helpful. Just an FYI you should use distilled water or previously boiled water as some bugs that live in water love to multiply in the sinuses (Pseudomonas). You should use it every day to keep things cleared before your surgery.
  16. Wow what a change! You are so close to goal and it doesnt even look like you need to lose any more weight!
  17. How about a Tbsp of peanut butter? Oatmeal is another good idea. Oh and cheese mmmm I love cheese. Ok sorry back to you. I am just approching mushies so I am not sure. Hope you find something that works for you.
  18. Welcome to the losers bench! I am happy that you are joining the rest of us on this journey to health.
  19. Congratulations! Dr Aceves team is wonderful and very caring. Just don't knock over your day 2 leak test (blue dye) like I did. Took out 2 of the 4 and Dr. Campos had a fun time razzing me. Glad you are feeling well and the drain will be out sooner than you think.
  20. Just think you are almost half way to goal! Or make smaller goals to achieve. That way you can celebrate the shorter goals and in no time you will have reached your long term goal.
  21. Congratulations!!! Onederland is aways off for me but I know how I will feel when I reach it. Keep up the great work!
  22. Sending you my best wishes on a fast and painfree recovery!
  23. Is your friend wanting to stay in the US or willing to travel to Mexico? I went to Dr Aceves in Mexicali MX and the price was reasonable. Plus I felt safe. But, if your friend wants to stay in the US I am not able to help.
  24. They vary as to each surgeon. Mine has me on clears for 10 days, full liquids 10 days mushies 2 -3 weeks and then slowly introduce regular food. I am so close to the mushies stage and am excited. Best to follow your doctors plan.
