  1. Only thing that bothers me about cold drinks is that I feel it going down my esophagus and into my stomach. Its a weird sensation for me. But no pain or other aversion to the cold.
  2. I am not sure but I think it has to do with first of all losing weight and second of all the decrease of sugars and carbs in your diet that you body tends to ignore now. Your body will be able to respond the the lower amount of sugar in your blood and deal with it appropriately. I personally am not diabetic so I am just guessing. I am sure other sleevers who were type II diabetics will chime in with their answers.
  3. Love seeing before and after photos. I just makes me know that I too will look that much better! Hiking the Grand Canyon what an amazing experience!
  4. It really all depends on your body and what it will allow for loss. Most people keep their calories between 600- 800 calories and carbs under 40grams with Protein above 60-80 grams. Some exercise with swimming, walking, treadmills, ellipticals other machinery, getting a personal trainer, dancing... you get the idea basically to get moving and doing what you like. Set a realistic goal and work from there. You never know you might just surpass your goal in the 4 - 6 months time. Better to set yourself up for being overwhelmed and happy at surpassing your goal than missing it and becoming depressed.
  5. How much weight do you need to lose? How many calories and what kind of foods are you eating ie carbs, fats and Protein? If you provide us with what you are eating on a daily basis plus how much weight you have to lose we might be able to help figure this out. As Tiff said do you have any disorders that would interfere with the weight loss?
  6. Sundar it really depends on how much weight you have to lose in the first place to lose 100 in 4 or 6 months. Normally men lose faster (must be the extra muscle they have). Those that have more weight to lose will lose what seems like large numbers but maybe we should all look at it like % excess weight needed to lose. Usually around 6 to 8 months most of the sleevers will have lost approximately 50% of their excess body weight. So if you need to lose 300 vs 80 lbs the person needing to lose up to 300 should be able to lose their 150 lbs and 80 lb person 40. But everyone is different and those that need to lose (inset your excess weight here) lbs some do it in a shorter or longer amount of time. The body will do as it pleases. Treat it right and you will eventually reach your goal.
  7. There is no rice. You take the cauliflower and run it over a cheese grater to make small "riced" shaped cauliflower that you steam. It should read 3 cups of grated cauliflower. You will enjoy this!
  8. Stress can slow weightloss and I am sure your job has some stressors. Just keep on doing what you are doing and the stall will break.
  9. Congratulations! You have the discipline to make this work and keep it working for you! Keep up the great progress.
  10. Congratulations!! 8 months and pretty much at goal.
  11. I traveled to Mexico from Canada all by myself. I am a very independent person so it did not bother me one bit to have anyone with me. Actually I did not tell anyone at home till I got home that I had the surgery. It was better this way. I would do it again the same way if I had a chance to do it all over again.
  12. I had a carry on that I made sure I could carry. The San Diego airport was really easy to navigate. When I got home my plane landed on the opposite side of the airport from customs it was a bit of a walk but I actually did fine. My carry on started to get heavy in the customs line up so I started to drag it. Guess it all depends on how you are feeling. I stayed an extra day in Mexicali (at the hotel) and it made a world of difference for me.
  13. I liked them well except the green apple. I have never like green apple flavour so that was the disliking.Other than that one I liked all of the other flavours. I never tried the Isopure so I could not say if they are similar or not.
  14. Oh it is really good! I made it pre-op to try it out and loved it.
  15. I had the dreaded 3rd week stall. What got it going for me was I increased my calories for 3 days. Tricked my body into thinking it was out of the starvation mode. Note this worked for me and it may or may not work for you. This is only a suggestion.
  16. How exciting! Keep us posted on your progress.
  17. Looking good! Congratulations on reaching your goal and now you are in maintenence. I can not wait to get there.
  18. I count all the carbs but that is because I am lazy and do not want to figure out the carbs that my body digests only.
  19. 80% of all people with H. pylori do not present with any symptoms. It is better to get it taken care of before surgery. Make sure you follow your doctors treatment to a T.
  20. Congratulations on getting to onederland!
  21. Awesome NSV's its truly makes you realize that you are losing weight and getting healthier.
  22. I started taking the Vitamins almost 10 months before my surgery. So it didn't bother me. The Protein shakes are great when I need a boost of protien without many carbs. Just have to find ones that you like. I am odd and do not mind most of the samples that I ordered. Only had one that I found tasted like playdoh and I will make sure never to have that one again. For me post surgery I was sleepy for the first couple of days but I did get up and walk. I sipped on my fluids and loved warm ones. I was lethargic for the first couple of weeks until I was on full liquids. And then my energy started to perk up. Now that I am on mushies I have no problems needing a nap in the daytime. I have no hunger and I eat because I need to. I have not had any problems getting in my fluids or protein but that is not the case for everyone. My swelling went down faster than some others. Post op the first month sucks (I will not lie) but after that it gets better when you can move from liquids to more mushy food and I have just been experimenting with solids. So far my tummy likes turkey bacon. I am going to try sausages next and possibly ground meats. Hope this info helps.
  23. Eat it as a solid. I like to mush it in my mouth and then swallow so that it is liquid for my tummy.
