Self sabotage?
When I made up my mind to have the sleeve I spent the next 6 months making sure I ate from my favourite food places. About 2 months before the surgery I really cut back but allowed myself the occasional bad food. When it came down to my last week when I had to be on a low carb diet I stuck to it. The closer I got the better I got about what I was putting in my mouth.

Those are fluids and right now you need your fluids. Have you tried herbal teas? flavouring your water? Hope you feel better soon.

Worried
You can still have the Thanksgiving meal. Just in smaller portions. I really do not crave food so the smaller portions will suffice for me.

Post nasal drip and "foamies"
Not yet but I try to keep my sinuses clear by using a Netti pot to clean them out. So I avoid the allergy post nasal drip. Hope your allergies clear up soon.

Help
Foxbins is right fluids are the most important thing right now! Protein can wait for a little while. Warm or cold or room temp you have to find what works for him. Plus he needs to sip sip sip and walk walk walk to get the gas moving and alleviate the pain. I dont think I got much protein in for the first 4 days. I just concentrated on fluids. Maybe put an array of different things like cup of tea, cup of gatorade, broth, Water and juice see what he tends towards taking.

Worried
These are all natural worries. You just have to decide what will be the best course of action to take. Can you and your husband lose the weight on your own and keep it off? Or are you comfortable living the way you are? There is risks everyday that people take. Just driving down the street could end in a disaster. I would say put down on paper the reasons to get the surgery and on another paper the reasons not to get the surgery. Hopefully one will out weigh the other and help you make your decision. I know I have not alleviated your worries. Check out your doctor and make sure you are fully comfortable having him perform this surgery.

What VSG doctor to Choose ?
I was self pay and went to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali Mexico. I flew right into San Diego was picked up by their driver who drove myself and another patient to the hospital in Mexicali for our blood work. Took us to a nice hotel where we went and had a great supper. Next morning the driver pick us up at 7am took us to the hospital had xrays done and then off to get settled into our own rooms. I was the first to go to surgery. Was in and next thing I remember was being back in my room. I take a little longer to come out of anesthetic than most people so I ended up sleeping Monday away. Tuesday I was up and roaming around. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos came in every day several times a day to check up on you. The hospital was clean and I felt safe walking around outside by myself. 3 days later I was discharged (I stayed an extra night because my flight home was not till the next day). I was taken back to the hotel for the night. Next morning Ernesto the driver picked me up then went and picked up the other patients that were heading home. He drove us back to San Diego to the airport. It was a great experience, plus I saved a lot of money if I would have self payed in Canada it would have been almost $20,000! If you want to stay in the US I can not help you there. But if you want to look into Mexico I would say Dr. A all the way!!!

GPS Update: Important new information

Yes they are my signal that I am full. For me they only last for a half hour to an hour and then they subside.- Did I stretch my stomach?
Stalls will happen through out your weightloss journey. Some as early as 3 weeks. Did you take your measurements when you started? You may not be losing pounds but inches. Or your body is stalling for the time being. Do not get discouraged and keep up what you are doing. You might want to shake up things a bit like increase your calories, change the time you eat, change up your exercise. These are just suggestions. I am sure the veteran sleevers will chime in sometime.- Spanner here - 1 week post-op
Welcome to the losers bench. Glad you are having a smooth recovery.- The thirty thirty rule- chew chew chew
I take a bite and chew till it is mush I do not count. I do however put down my fork/spoon between bites to give my body time to let me know when I am full. I have over eated a couple of times and it is uncomfortable. This is definitly a learning process.- What does full feel like?
I am still working on the feeling. I have once or twice had one bite too many and then was uncomfortable for the next 30 mins to 1 hour. I try to eat a bite and then wait a couple of mins before taking the next one to give my body the chance to signal that I am full. This is going to take awhile to get a hang of.- Flood of "Whatcha eating"
I like it!- Sleeved 6 hrs ago
Welcome to the losers bench!- What is this white fur on my tongue???
I have it and am able to brush most of it away with my tooth brush. I may invest in a tongue scrapper to help get rid of it. Most likely what Tiff said, but if you are concerned then call your doctor.- Time Flies! Six Months Out!
Congratulations! You are working your sleeve. I hope to have the same success as you in 6 months. Keep up the great work.- Scale Disclaimer
