  1. Yes, I had too do it also visit #6 next week, then I should get an anticipated surgery date. Did not lose much weight, but learned a lot during this time. My visits started with the consultation. Goodluck on your journey.
  2. I believe they do kinda forget about this site once banded you never hear from them unless there's a problem. I love this site but once I'm banded next year, I'm gonna make myself available like I am now for those who need support. That's just who I am.
  3. Sorry to hear you were denied, is it because they don't cover wls through your job. That may be the reason although we have insurance sometimes through our employers they elect to not cover the procedure. I have UHC also, now I'm concerned, but the clinic I attend did verify that its covered through my insurance and I also called. They say as long as I use my companys hospital it will be covered. Don't give up, keep fighting but if it isn't covered I've heard on here on this site that its a lost cause. So get your benefit summary, it will tell you or try UHC online it will tell you there also. Wishing you luck.
  4. You hit it right on the nose and that's what I intended to do once I'm banded. I want to be successful and gonna do what my dr tells me too to be successful. If you have will power all is possible and I'm determined to lose this weight, so I can be healthier and happier. I'm doing this for me, I remember when I was smaller how happy and full of life I was, now with this weight it seems like everything has slowed down a bit. I recently started weight training and exercising preparing myself for banding. My goal is to try to lose 12 lbs this month, even it I don't lose it all I can say I gave it my best. Thanks for the post.
  5. I had to do 6 months also, now I'm down to my last month. I can tell you that it went very quickly. During the last 5 months, I learned how, what and what not to eat once banded. This has really been a learning experience for me. I think that all that I've learned will help me be successful in my journey to a thinner me. Utilize this time to learn as much as you can. Good luck to you on your journey.
  6. Big congrats, I'm so happy for you. I'm wishing for a 1st time approval too. Good luck on the journey to becoming a new you.
  7. It's okay to be nervous as I am myself. My anticipated surgery month is in Feb also. You are heading down the right track, not only am I doing this for myself. I would love to be around to see my kids grow up. Weight loss is the best thing anyone can do, to live a long and healthier life. As long as your family is behind you, you will do great. There's a lot of good support on this site. Feel free to ask questions or voice concerns. Good luck on your journey to becoming a healthier you.
  8. Hope all gets better. Will be praying for you.
  9. Congrats you are doing so well with your weight loss. I agree, with you being male the weight is definitely gonna come off faster and others have lost without a fill. Hope I do as well as you, anticipated surgery date is in Feb 2012. Follow your physicians advice and you will be fine. Good luck.

  12. I'm scared too, but if I don't lose the weight I am putting my self at risk for heart disease stroke, high cholesterol, etc. But, I do know that I want to live longer and if this tool can help me lose weight to be around to see my kids grow up then I'm all for it. When the time comes I will pray and go from there. The closer it gets it has been getting easier for me. You are not alone we all have fears, just need to figure out how to conquer them. I recently lost a friend who was severely overweight, I don't want this too be me. This is a great site with lots of support available to you, just ask and people here will help and support you. I agree with susan73 research, research, research, then go from there good luck on your decision.
  13. I have to stay >40 so I've been losing 1-2 lbs a mth and my clinic reminds me to not go <40. I will lose the most in my 5-6 mth, since I have only a 12lb window. So currently focusing on exercise and eating right. Good luck.
  14. Keep your head up, you have done great. People always got something to say. They really just need to keep their big*** mouth shut sometimes. Enjoy your weight lost and be happy. Negative people are everywhere, if they can destroy your spirit, they gonna try. Of course you're upset, but just look in the mirror and say BAM, I look damn good and I'm proud of it. Congrats!!!
  15. I'm heading on my 3rd month next week and it has been going very fast. At first I was thinking that it would take forever but I'm moving right along. Before you know it, 6 month will be gone. This has been a learning tool for me also, I have lost only 2 lbs but I'm not gaining. This is my time to learn how to eat because most of the time I starve myself then I'm really hungry, so I will eat without chewin properly. I still have issues, but its getting better I do not want a stuck episode after banding. Also, I'm learning to get my water in and try different protein shakes. All I can say is that I'm preparing for banding. Use this time as prebanding prep time. Remember to research and read some of the post here, I have found them to be very helpful. Good luck to you during your journey.
  16. Good luck today let us know how it went. Hope all goes well.
  17. Congrats on weight loss, keep it up. and what is this pouch test? Out of all my research I've never heard of it. Banding in 2012. Whatever will help me lose this weight once banded, I'm interested.
  18. Hi all, Need to know what all needs to be in the letter of medical necessity. I thought that my clinic would do this for me but was told to get it from my PCP. If anyone has a template or sample I would greatly appreciate it if you can send it to my email bunch.pamela@yahoo.com. Also on the history of obesity is it a letter or just your weight through the years? I don't know what that looks like either. Getting frustrated. Thanks
  19. can someone email me a copy also bunch.pamela@yahoo.com thanks
  20. Congrats on the weight loss and keep up the good work. Good luck reaching your 100 lb lost. Hope I'm as successful on my journey. Yeah!!!!
  21. Thanks ev1 for your response the information is helpful I'm guessing that every insurance is different. Will be losing 1-2 lbs a month, so I can be approved for insurance. Sounds rather stupid to be put on a diet and can't lose much weight. Who figures? Good luck to all on your journeys.
  22. From a medical stand point, I would seek medical attention you do not want this to turn into something big by waiting. It could be serious, if it concerns you alot seek medical attention, You don't want to have an infection and not have it treated asap, being freshly post-op. I'm more than certain that the ER can reach your physician although its the weekend. I also agree with keeping the area clean and dry. Goodluck, keep us posted.
  23. Welcome, I am a Registered Nurse also and I began my journey recently. Doing my 6 month supervised diet. Wishing you goodluck on your approval and success with lapband. Keep us posted.
  24. Hi Lindy, I am from H-Town and I'm getting banded through True Results by Dr. Reilly. I'm current doing my six month supervised diet and I'm looking forward to being banded. There are a lot of people here from Houston so you should not have a problem with the questions you have. Welcome to LBT and goodluck on your journey.
  25. Congrats on the weight loss, stay strong and keep up the good work. Awaiting my time, but its moving fast. Keep us posted on the weight loss.
