  1. Wow, awesome. Congrats!
  2. Time and time again, I have heard the fat will readjust itself after you stop losing. However, I totally understand about the cookouts and family reunions. I lucked out this year because I am in Michigan for the summer. But before I have used a couple good excuses because I have had GERD for years and my family knows sometimes I just can't eat all the greasy foods, so I just fill my plate with the sides like greens, coleslaw, and biscuits and chow down. You can always get a little on your plate and make trips back up to make it look like your eating more. Also, don't be afraid to bring some of your own food like shredded chicken to the bbqs and just say you are trying to get rid of it.
  3. Hm, I will definitely pay attention to this post. My arms are the worst problem area on my body.
  4. Congrats! The days seem to be flying by now. I hope it is here before you know it.
  5. I understand you completely. I am 5'3" and standing at 245 pounds right now, I cut out pretty much all carbs so I don't go higher than 30g a day. AND IT WAS SO HARD, but I am glad I started two months ago. I also didn't tell anyone but my mom and boyfriend about me contemplating surgery. The rest of my family is really judgmental also, and I don't want to deal with that right now. I hope you hear back from your insurance soon and get your date! I am so excited for you, and just want you to know that whatever questions or support you have or need there is someone on this forum to help and listen.
  6. It just depends on the insurance company whether you have to go through a process. One of my forum friends, LeahG, only had to complete a psych eval and she was approved. It took less than two weeks for her. (Hope she gets a date soon ) And while for me, UHC requires a 6 Month Physician Supervised Weight Loss attempt. Therefore, I won't be able to submit my information to insurance until August 4th after my last 6MPSWL visit. I know it seems daunting right now, but you will get through this. It might not happen as fast as you want, but you can do this. Just start making the appointments you need, find out what your insurance wants, and find a good surgeon in your area.
  7. Lol, when they are quick they are quick. CONGRATULATIONS! Next step a date! I am so happy for you. Keep me posted on what it is like on the other side.
  8. Congrats on hearing back so soon, but yikes on the long wait time.
  9. Lol, I would love to be able to complain about something like that. Congrats on having this horrendous problem!
  10. Good luck, I can't even imagine how hard that will be, but you can do this.
  11. Wow, thanks for finding this. I literally LOLed. This was funny but honest.
  12. You two will be in my thoughts. I am so sorry this happened., but I am glad things are a little bit more positive. Please take care.
  13. Welcome to the forum, and you are totally not alone with being a fall sleever. I am hopefully getting everything submitted to insurance on August 4th, and I want September 2nd for my date. This forum is one of the best places to commiserate, vent, and find information on what will be happening before and after surgery, so do not be afraid to ask questions. Take care and good luck on your journey!
  14. My mom is going with me to my surgery on (hopefully) Sept. 2nd. She has already notified her job because she is has a high stress job with things already being planned that far in advance.
  15. That is awesome! I am so happy for you. You are in good company on this forum.
  16. Good luck on your journey and I hope you hear a quick approval soon! I can't wait to be where you are, lady. I am glad you joined the board. If you EVER have ANY questions don't be afraid to ask, there are so many helpful people here ready and able to help. Welcome!
  17. It can take anywhere from 24 hours to a month. It depends on the insurance company. Though, people with UHC, from what I have heard, normally hear back with a week. Good luck!
  18. Nichelle, I do understand your vent, at least where it is coming from. I hope it was not taken in a negative light, I just admit I can't understand where you are feeling right now. But I really admire you for your courage to A) Post your feelings and B.) Continue on with your awesome weight loss! This is a great thread, and it really helps reflect on some of the difficulties younger sleevers might have to face.
  19. Wow, I am so happy for you, and I wish I had your confidence.
  20. Wow, I am in total awe. Congrats!
  21. That is so weird. Why are the surgeon and anesthesiologist only covered at 80%?
