Hey everyone!
Hey lady! Welcome, I love having another young Floridian join the board! It is awesome to have you. I will also be a September sleever if all things work out right. I am from Tampa, Fl and I will starting up school there in the fall. I am sure this is going to be quite the journey for both of us, having this surgery in the beginning of the school year, but we will both get through it and be better for it!

Rant - clothing size (pics)
I have to say this thread gives me hope the weight will come off, but it kind of makes me sad because I am REALLY bottom heavy. There is already a huge difference between my upper and lower body.

How long are you waiting for Surgery?
From March to September for me, so about 7 months. Ah... the joys of 6MPSWL....

"Fried" Chicken Thighs
This recipe was born from my desperation for something like fried chicken on my low carb diet. I will write down the directions for both fried and baked chicken thighs. The only problem with this recipe for me is that is super duper high in sodium, so please be aware if the scale doesn't move in the morning it is probably because of the Water retention, lol. 1 and 1/2 bags of pork rinds (I used Kroger brand) 3 large eggs 4 tbsp italian seasoning 2 tbsp garlic powder 48 oz (3 lbs) of chicken thighs (I prefer dark meat) For frying: 24 oz (2 cups) of peanut oil for pan fry 1) Crush the pork rinds to a fine consistency by adding the pork rinds to a sealable plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin or can. ---- If frying, pour the 24 oz of peanut oil into the frying pan (about 9 inches circumfrence) and place on high heat to heat oil. ---- If baking, grease baking sheet with non-stick spray. 2) Add italian seasoning and garlic powder to crushed pork rind bag and mix. 3) Whisk the 3 eggs together in a bowl. 4) Dip each chicken thigh into the egg wash. 5) After dipping, place chicken thigh into bag and cover chicken in crumbs. ---- if frying, place chicken thighs into pan to fry and remove from pan when golden brown. ---- if baking, place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Each serving is 6 oz of chicken. Author's note: If properly frying, the oil should not technically permeate the breading. Therefore, I have not included the caloric breakdown for the frying. However, we don't always fry correctly, so be sure to add at least some of the calories for whatever type of oil being used when making the recipe for frying. If baking, the caloric breakdown is listed below.

Carnie Wilson made the news today
Wow, that was a horrible article. I don't even know why her weight should come into that! Now, I am really upset on her behalf. I really hope things work out for her.

Being Treated Differently
Khy, yeah, that is the worst for me. There are so many instances where I have been assumed incompetent just because of my weight. It REALLY pisses me off.
-
Improved Allergies!
Ah, blessedly relief from allergies would be fabulous. Congrats on recovering your health!

Celery question
Huh, interesting topic. Never knew about the raw veggies.... that is kind of sad.

Please allow me to introduce myself...
FINALLY! Lol, I just have to tell you how excited I am to read your post. I have been dying for someone else to be having surgery with Dr. Webb in J-ville. Welcome to the forum! You can definitely start the diet now, and maybe even go on the pre-surgery diet to get a head start on shrinking the liver. The binder Novus Center gave you should have everything in it that you need to get started. Also, it is not about letting go of the foods you love. It is about developing a new relationship with them. I mean last night I had a BBQ picnic with my program and.... Let me get this out now, I LOVE PIE.... Okay, so I really love pie. I normally would have two pieces at least! They even gave me the rest of the pie to take home and you know what? I went for the second piece and only had a bite. Me? The pie lover extraordinaire? Yes! One bite and I put it in the trash. I didn't need it and I didn't want it controlling me. You can do this.

New Sleever
@jasleeve: That is so sweet! Thank you, that is such a great compliment. I love this forum and interacting with such great people on every stage of their journey. I can't tell you how much I empathize with you and where you are at right now. I started the 6MPSWL with excitement and impatience, so I really do know how you feel, but as you keep going... learning more about life after sleeve and interacting with the people on here, you just pause and realize, this is really about making this your personal journey and trying to make the most out of your sleeve. I try not to think of this 6MPSWL as a wait time, but as me really changing how I think about food and exercise. This is the rest of our lives. @Anakin Jay: You might need to talk to your insurance about whether the 6MPSWL has to be with a nutritionist or with a physician. I know for me UHC Choice Plus requires a physician, so definitely ask. The benefit for also using my PCP is she already has everything in her records about me, and the visits were covered by insurance.

6 Month Diet Question
Yes, mine also goes through the bariatric service. I have heard something similar, but my surgeon's office says it can take up to 10 days.

The upside of a foot injury after weight loss!
Ah, when I broke my ankle last year I couldn't use the crutches for that exact reason. It was so depressing. I can't even imagine how many things in my life will change after surgery. It is the little things. Congrats on the NSV!
-
6 Month Diet Question
Yeah, my insurance UHC Choice Plus only requires 6 visits, but it is always good to check with the insurance company some require a 180 days exactly. And I can understand exactly how excited you are. I am bursting at the seems.

6 Month Diet Question
That was more specific than my PCP, lol. She was just like what are you doing? She recommended some changes like cutting some carbs, adding more veggies, and eating multiple times a day and recorded it in her notes. Also, starting talking about walking. I've been using myfitnesspal.com religiously though so if they need that for insurance approval I have that, but it has been a walk in the park for me. Only 1 month left!

Baby Food
Baby food is full of carbs and sugar. Therefore, it would not be something I would use.
