Cooking for your Family
It hasn't bothered me much. I fixed biscuits and gravy for my daughter and husband today (I feed them pretty healthy during the week but B&G is one of their guilty pleasures reserved for weekends). My head really wished I was joining them, but my belly didn't complain at all. I am LOVING my sleeve!

struggling with protein AND fluids
I couldn't do oatmeal either. I'm having some sort of cheese at almost every meal - string cheese, babybel, 2% sliced sharp cheddar, even laughing cow light wedges! I'm getting a little sick of cheese but my sleeve is tolerant of it so it helps with the Protein. I'm also doing applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, refried Beans, and smushed peaches. Hang in there, I'm starting week 3 and it's not too bad. I am counting the days to when I can have chicken and tuna salad!!

Hi sleevers, Im 37 days in.
Congrats! A lot of people have said there's a stall around week 3, so you're probably in the midst of that. Don't worry about it, keep following your plan and you'll start losing again soon!

I need help!
I'm a huge wimp so I would call my doc's office if I had pain, especially 3 weeks out. It's always better to be overly cautious.

I have a friend who's a trainer
I took this type of class for a few weeks in a row last year. The pain got better quickly . . . it was an awesome workout! I can't wait to get released by my doc for exercise, I'm itching to get moving!!

Pickles Anyone?
Woot! My nutritionist was at support group last night and said I can start pickles week 5, she also suggested skinning them if I have issues with the skins. I can't wait!

My first NSVs
That's great!! I am looking forward to having some NSVs too.

Stall Question
I think I have hit a stall (just started my period so I'm sure there's a correlation) - I'm not freaking out about it, I know it will be temporary. What I'm curious about is what happens after the stall? I mean, will I just resume slow & steady losing (which is OK) or will I see another big drop like I did week one? I'm selfishly hoping it's the latter, but I'll take it any way I can get it.

Is it normal to be able to drink this much?
Glad to hear others have been able to drink a lot too, I've not had any issues getting my liquids in since day 1. Not too much burping either, but a bit here & there.

struggling with protein AND fluids
Hi hospital buddy! If you live on the north side of Indy BJ's Bariatrics is in the Mohawk shopping center off Rangeline - I went in there and got a bunch of the different single-serving pouches of the Syntrax nectar Protein. I've been doing the roadside lemonade with about 6 oz crystal light lemonade and about 4 oz Water, and pouring over ice. I've blended it with my immersion blender (before adding the ice) and it's tolerable. I can usually choke it down during my 25-minute drive to work. Another thing I bought was Nectar unflavored protein, and I've been doing 2 scoops (20 grams) with sugar-free hot chocolate mix, about 4-6 oz 1% milk and that's pretty OK too. Also, I went to the support group last night and while the yellow sheet for weeks 1-4 say baby food purees (veg and fruit), I confirmed with the nutritionist at the meeting that we can puree our own fruit and veg too, it doesn't have to be jarred baby food. I bought some bananas tonight and I'm going to try to make a protein smoothie with vanilla greek yogurt, banana, milk and maybe some hershey sugar-free syrup. You can have string cheese right now too, I've been eating 2-3 sticks a day and they have 7 grams protein each (if they are the 1-oz sticks).

Colyte
Well you're likely already sleeved by now but I can sympathize with you about the colyte. I had it with my first colonoscopy and it was WRETCHED.

HELP!!! AM I EATING TOO MUCH??
I'm a little over two weeks out and I wouldn't even consider eating McDonald's nuggets or even regular chicken at the stage I'm at now, so it's surprising you're eating that at 3 weeks post-op. Same for the chicken wings. I would schedule a meeting with your nutritionist right away. My nutritionist's guidelines have me eating only 2 ounce meals, 3 times a day . . . this continues through 8 weeks. It sounds like you're eating much, much more than that.

Just For The Fun of It: Which "Diet Plans" Did You
Weight Watchers too many times to count Atkins South Beach (sort of) Suzanne Somers (can't remember what it was called but it SUCKED) That was really it for "commercial" plans. I remember being home sick from work for a couple days in a row years ago, watching daytime TV, and ALMOST ordered the Richard Simmons "Deal a Meal" program.

Home-made Wendy's Chili
I'll have to check out that flavor of the Mrs. Dash, I love chili powder and cumin!

Salty Sweet Crunchy Snack -With Pecans
Mmm, it would probably work with almonds too, right? I'm drooling at the idea of crunching on something again . . . hope the next 6 weeks fly by!

B12
I had the option of a shot once monthly or 1000 mcg sublingual weekly. They gave me a B12 shot in the hospital so I'll start the sublingual in a couple weeks. I think I got 2500 mcg though.

burning feeling above belly button??
I'm ultra-scared of a leak so I think if I was having those symptoms I'd go in or call your surgeon. If it happened to be a leak, it would be better caught early rather than later, and if not then you'll know for sure.

Update on me..
MAKF, I am 12 days out and getting around 500-600 cals a day and ~75 grams of protein. I do a protein drink in the morning, then 2 oz meals 3 times a day. Typically I will have 1 oz yogurt/1 oz cheese, or 1 oz cott cheese/1 oz applesauce. I try to have either cottage cheese or regular cheese at every meal for the extra protein. I am getting about 70-80 oz of liquids during the day as well.

Home-made Wendy's Chili
Sounds good, but I like a little "fire" in my chili so i'd probably get rid of the cinnamon and go with some chili powder and cumin instead. The leftover soup sounds like a perfect chili base of veggies!!

Pickles Anyone?
I have drank pickle juice before.

Summer and weight loss
Great motivation! I never thought I would be craving a salad and fresh fruit like I am right now. It's extra-hard since all the farmers markets are in full swing and I can't enjoy any of their wares. I just keep reminding myself that this time next year not only will I (hopefully) be at maintenance but be able to enjoy all those healthy, yummy homegrown goodies.

Can a whole weekend be a NSV?
That is so awesome!! What an accomplishment. I can't wait to shop in regular stores!
-
Thia is a way off the charts NSV!!!
Awesome! I'm secretly looking forward to having that happen to me again . . . although I'm NOT looking forward to how my husband will react. He's a bit jealous (not crazy-psycho jealous, just gets a little irritated) and let's face it, he hasn't had to worry about guys drooling over me in a bar for a VERY long time.

Not Feeling Full yet
My food plan allows me to be on some "modified solids" such as soft cheeses and refried beans. I have been militantly measuring out my 2 oz portions of everything so for a meal I might have 1 oz yogurt and 1 oz string cheese, 1 babybel light or 1 wedge of laughing cow. I have not felt any restriction or "fullness" until tonight. We had to go to Costco and my daughter wanted dinner . . . I let her get a piece of cheese pizza. Since she never finishes the pizza I figured I'd just skin some of the cheese off hers (avoiding the tomato sauce) and that could be my dinner. I think I had the equivalent of about 2 oz, but I didn't have the ability to measure/weight it out, and I think I might have eaten a bit too fast - but I THINK I felt my first feeling of fullness. I did NOT like it, I had a little discomfort in my chest and it sort of felt like the chunks of food could come back up. They didn't, and I was counting the minutes to my 30-minute mark so I could wash it down . . . but I think I learned my lesson of measuring EVERYTHING very early on!!
