  1. Yes my doctor has me take a nice sized sip..plus he can see it under fluro which is why i'm happy he does it that way...and a fill can takw 2 weeks till u feel the reall effects...so weird but true
  2. if you werent scared i would be concerned. your gonna have surgery so what you're feeling is perfectly natural. these boards were a great source of support for me. just know that you will hear/read negative and positive. feel free to PM me with any questions.
  3. it might take you several fills to get restriction and also sometimes there is a delay about a week or so before you can tell you even had a fill.

  5. the first 6 weeks is about healing...so until you start getting fills you probably wont feel like you have the band, eventually everyone "tests" their band, but i would be very careful about eating regular foods so soon. dont want to do any damage. and you want your band to settle in so scar tissue can form and it can be secure. jennifer
  6. i'm an open book..been banded almost 11 months...so i knpw a little something.lol..feel free to PM me. jennifer

  10. the scale has finally started moving again and honestly i dont know why. i cant really offer any suggestions. sorry
  11. I finally went to Lane Bryant to get fitted for bra's. I"m so sad that the girls are disappearing! UGH! one effect i didnt want. well anyway she helped my find my right size and she asked how i was losing weight and i gladly shared with her about my lap band. She thought it was great. She asked me what size i wore now and i said 12's/ she told me you are too small for anything in our store! I COULD HAVE KISSED HER! never in a million years would i ever think someone would say this to me. And normally i woiuld reward myself with food, but this totally motivated me to hit the gym as soon as i left the store! WOW that felt sooo good!!!
  12. Oh wow..they would have to give me WAY more details than that! Something sounds fishey to me..I'd further investigate if I were you.
  13. It is just really blowing me the amount the fills cost...how can it be so vastly different and its the same procedure..unless its done blind versus fluro I don't know how they can justify the difference...I believe these doc's are taking total advantage cuz they know that without the fills for most patients the band would be non functional with no restriction..ugh this just pisses me off..taking advantage of people!
  14. i agree with the above poster. i wasnt on solid foods till about 4 weeks after my surgery and still didnt get a fill until 6 weeks. it's weird but you probably eventually will test you band and will soon find out what stuck feels like. not a pleasant feeling at all
  15. To the previous poster..fluro is when u stand in front of an xray machine when they do your fill..that way the doc can see the barium as you swllow it and make sure everything is where it's supposed to be.
  16. great attitude. the first few days were the hardest but i was sooooo determined not to mess up cuz i wanted this so badly and that outweighed anything that could hurt my process. this is a great place for support. glad you have your hubbie and mom for support. best wishes in your journey hun
  17. congrats on having a surgery date. stay strong the pre-op diet is the worst part. it will get easier. i blog here and i started a video blog the day of my surgery, but havent figured out how to upload it to you tube. lol best wishes on your journey.
  18. wow! awesome for a kid to recognize and actually say something. i'm smiling for you!
  19. I was self pay $12K:.and the first year of fills are included..but after that it's $250 a pop...ugh..don't understand how some ppl pay less than $100...for those paying under $100 are your fills done under fluro?
  20. yeah 30 pounds that fast is great! but i understand how you say you dont see it but others do. i had a hard time seeing it as well, but when i started seeing it in my clothes falling off, seeing the tendons in my feet and other NSV's it became more real. best wishes on your journey
  21. are there specific questions you have? jennifer
  22. i thought about doing liquids but then i realized that i would just gain the weight back when i started eating again. no i was never a calorie counter..not tryn to be funny but that's why other programs didnt work for me. i know some people use fitness pal and maybe i'll look into that, but i'm just being honest in saying i know me and i know i wont keep it up. hmmmmm wondering about the exercise thing. i work out 4 days a week, two of those with my trainer. on the days when i'm not with him i do 30-50 minutes of cardio and some weights....any suggestions about the workout switch up. thanks for you input so far. it seems whenever i'm at the point when going to the next level meaning from 250 to 240's..220's to 210's it's such a hard transition..not sure why that is, but i need to get these pounds off...ugh!
  23. hi sarah. i was banded in may of 2011. i had 3 fills that took me to good restriction, went in for fill 4 and was too tight for 2 weeks. got 2 emergency unfills and a 5th fill and now i feel like i'm at good restriction. i dont think using fluro helps you get to the green zone faster. my doc uses it also. everyone is sooo different and if anyone tells you that after a certain fill you will have the right restriction...dont listen to them...no one can tell you that at a certain number of cc's in your band is when you get restriction. yeah dont get caught up in the how many cc's are in your band either cuz it's only relevant to your band. i know i am close to 8 cc's in my band but for someone else that could be too tight or not tight enough. i hear you about the being impatient, but unfortunalty with the band we have to be patient. best wishses in your journey. feel free to PM with any questions, i am more than willing to share my experiences so far. jennifer
