Actually my thyroid was removed two years before my sleeve. My pcp has been monitoring my thyroid levels since surgery and managing my syntroid dosage every month. My advice to you is to go to your doctor and discuss ways to trick your thyroid into doing what you need it to do regarding your weight loss. My weight loss has been slow but study only problem is seeing my doctor every month the co pays are killing me. I hope this helps, take care

Got Milk!
After my surgery I became lactose intolerant and I love milk I tried many different brands and I just found Real Goodness it has 11g of Protein and it taste great. I've also feel in love with Muscle Milk which is lactose free and 22g of protein. Now I can get in my protein each day and drink a glass of milk again which counts as a Fluid. I drink the Real Goodness fat free and the regular muscle milk which is my snack some days. Just wanted to post just in case other sleevers are looking for lactose free milk products. Take Care

SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY WITH EVERYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH ME!
Hello, I understand your afraid but the sleeve has been the best decision in my life. Like you I had many many many surgeries prior to deciding to have WLS so my thought was I made it through those other surgeries one more will be the solution I've been looking for and it was. Everytime I went into the hospital I thought about my daughter and who would take care of her, but I had to push out those fears and think of how heathy I would be and the quality of life at a heathy weight. It's normal to be afraid it's human, may I suggest speaking with your doctor and possibly a counselor to help with decision to have the sleeve. Hope this helps, take care

How did you decide on your goal weight?
I did not have a weight goal in the beginning I just wanted to be a size 10, now that I'm wearing a size 10 at 175lbs I've scheduled an appt. with my doctor so we can discuss a goal weight I'm thinking 165 would work for me I'm 5'4" I can not imagine being any smaller. I don't focus on the BMI chart, personally I don't think that chart takes into account the different body types that are out there any ways. Take Care

PROTEIN SHAKE QUESTIONS
Hey Dave, congrats on the 53lbs. What helped me was I would add decaf. coffee to my Protein shakes it changed the flavor and helped with the queasy. Your tastes buds usually change after surgery, so maybe try a different brand I loved the

Am I wrong to feel this way?
I think that was very cruel, they may not know what your going through but where's the empathy. How would she like it if you made her favorite meal and she had her chews wired shut (just an example) I'm sorry the the yogurt upset your new tummy like Tiff said probably to soon. Take Care

Soda Question
Hello, Yes I did stop drinking diet dr. pepper and my starbucks expresso it took me six months but before my surgery I had stopped. I started increasing my Water intake due to drinking so much water I could not fit in my daily soda and I changed my coffee to decaf. tea. I'm glad I did it because I had the worst headaches but then my body finally accepted the changes. Now 4 months post op I don't really miss my daily diet dr. pepper or my starbucks. But again this was over a six month time frame maybe having a diet dr. pepper on Saturday and Sunday then just Saturday to non at all. Hope this helps

How do you stop the weight loss!
Thank you everyone for your comments, I understand that on the bmi chart I'm still obese but for my body type 150 is to small trust me I know that's the size I was when I married my husband. Looking at my wedding pics I was so small I like the way I look at 180 I'm running again and keeping up with my daughter. My reason for getting the sleeve was to stop all the meds. and cure my sleep apnea. I have an appointment with my doctor next week I will talk to her about my goal weight. I love this site everyone is so helpful

How do you stop the weight loss!
Here's my story, I've lost 76 lbs this includes weightloss prior to my surgery. Now that I've reached 180 lbs I'm wearing a size 10 which I'm sure this is due to vanity sizing but I don't care I love telling friends I wear a size 10. Since surgery I have not stalled in my weightloss and I was ready to stop lossing weight when I was 185 lbs but I get up this morning and I'm 5lbs lighter. Does anyone know how I can stop lossing? So I can start maintaining my current weight. I welcome any advice anyone can offer. Thanks
