Getting 2nd Psych eval again
You can have your regular therpist write a letter on your behalf then give this to the surgeon's theripist, you have to disclose your meds. I live with depression and told the surgeon's therpist what meds I was taking. Also, I gave her a letter from my regular therpist along with the results from my one hour pysch. test I was only in her office for 15 mins. She reported that I was mentally stable for surgery. I hope this helps with your next visit :thumbup1:

Please help my new friends
I'm at a loss as well. If you were 180 with a 6 foot frame, you were already in the "normal" BMI range. Why would ANY surgeon do any type of weightloss surgery on you I'm curious.:thumbup1::confused1:

All I want is my WLS UGGGGGH!!!
Thanks! Good Luck with Weight Watchers, writing down everything I eat and being honest about it helped me loss the 10lbs. The one thing I've learned going through this process is what causes my eating, I'm a grazer I don't eat alot of food at one time it,s small meals all day long WOW The next three months I will work on three meals a day with a snack, maybe waiting this long is a good thing...but if they gave me a date tomorrow I would take it...lol:001_rolleyes::thumbup:

How long were you off work?
Time off work is based on the individual, I plan on taking 5 weeks off from work one reason my company will pay me for it and the second reason is I would like to stay home and get use to the new stomach and eating habits that come with it. Hope this helps!:lol0:

Back to work, 50 lbs lighter, and no one noticed! LOL
Donna, My friend and co-worker came back to work two weeks ago after her WLS surgery she has lost 33 lbs and she's wearing smaller clothes. No one said anything to her at all, but in the break room I heard comments like she totally cheated; you know she had that WLS she could not have done this on her own. When she ask me had I heard anything I told her you know how stupid people in our department can be she was really hoping they notice and said something about her weight loss as they did in the pass when she was on WW. Anyway to make a long story short, I told her she looked great and I can not wait to get a date for my surgery...soon I hope. Then I proceed to give the gossips a piece of mind, explaining how WLS is not the easy way out it's hard work something they would know nothing about.

All I want is my WLS UGGGGGH!!!
Okay I trust my surgeon this is why I chose him, but God! It's been six months since starting this process, psych. visit, nutrionist and seeing my doctor every month. Just submitted my all documents to my insurance company today, while at the surgeons office I find out that he's complete booked the month of August and they will not schedule my surgery until my insurance is approved and I complete all my pre-op testing at this rate it will be October by the time I get my surgery. If I knew I had to wait three months after following the surgeons guidelines I would have paid out of pocket this is crazy. I'm so ready to start my journey, to get healthy and not wear my cpap ever again. Thanks for letting me vent, this process is driving my crazy and I used most my vacation time going to all these doctors appts.:laugh0::svengo:

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
Trouble, I completly understand what you are talking about, once your sleeved your always sleeved. I have not had my surgery yet my insurance made me wait six months I was mad then, but happy now because in the six months I've done more research and spoken to patients after their surgery my fear has gone. I'm now worried about small things like "am I going to remember to sip my water" etc All I can say is don't worry that your scared be more worried if you were not. :001_rolleyes:

Totally obsessed with WLS
Moni Luv, I'm completly obsessed with having this surgery I can't wait to return to the things I love running, hiking etc. I truly wish you luck in your journey and I hope your not doing this for your husband but for yourself. I had a rocking marriage and after a year of seeing a therpist we are now in a good place I did not want this surgery if in the back of my mind I thought I was doing it for him or to fix our relationship. Its nice starting this journey with my husband with him understanding it's not about him it's about me and getting healthy. Good Luck!!!!

Thank you CWalker you have put my mind at ease.

Not sure if my insurance will approve surgery
I have United Health Care for my insurance and I've completed my six month visit with my PCP now I'm working on gathering my five year history. My concern is back in 2005 my nutrionist had me on the PSMF diet program ( Post Modified Fast) I lost a nice amount of weight down to 209 then September 2006 I had a complete histeractomy then started putting weight back on now my BMI is 42. So I'm worried that UHC will say no to my surgery because my BMI was 36 in 2005 and part of 2006. Please let me know if any of you had this same thing happened and if you were approved. PS My surgeon cancelled my surgery date when he found this out,I think I'm going to get bad news :crying: Thanks

Calling all insured by United Health Care
Hello, I have completed my six month visit with my PCP and I'm meeting with my nutrionist on July 21st. Would anyone happen to know how long it will take to get an approval from United Health Care? Also, Has anyone with United Health Care followed all the steps and was denied their surgery? The anticipation is killing me, it took me 4 years to decide to have a VSG and now I'm waiting to see if it will happen.

Another Newbie on Board!
Welcome! Robbie I'm new to the board and It has helped me greatly. Good luck with your surgery, I'm only 3 months into this process.

Should I cancel my surgery? Help!
May I suggest you remember why you decided to have the surgery in the first place, this will help with your decision. My husband supports me and I do not plan on including my family in my decision, when you think about it with self pay you have to wait three months with the surgeon answsering your questions and helping with any concerns. Love your mom, but love yourself first. Good Luck:biggrin0:

Beginning the journey...
Hey 2muchfluff, I have UHC and I'm just starting my 6 months of supervised weight loss. My doctor she's great she tried to get UHC to approve because she has been helping me with my weight loss for months, only we missed one month last November and it has to be consecutive I think she was more heart broken then me. It's a journey and becoming healthy is our goal. Welcome!:tongue_smilie:

Looking for support in Ohio
Hello excited2lose, We are a two hour drive away cool (my daughter loves COSI), the reason for my post was to find support close to my area because my friends/family keep telling me to go to another state for my vsg surgery they feel the surgeons in Ohio are inexperienced. How did everything go for you. Have a great day
