I did a bad thing... Am I in trouble? Need feedback!
I did the same thing prior to my surgery and I've been sleeved fourteen days now. What helped me was I increased my Water by the gallons and excercised more at the gym. After my surgery my doctor told me my liver was perfect and everything went very well. PLEASE TRY NOT to make this mistake again you should be fine. I hope this helps:rolleyes:

14 DAYS POST OP ....WHAT TO DO ON THURSDAY
I'm fourteen days out from being sleeved......my question how to handle Thursday? My mom and sisters know I've been sleeved but we are going over my aunts house for dinner and she is easily insulted if you do not try her different dishes. I think I'm going to fake the flu and stay home because I have two cousins that I do not want to know I had WLS both have had the RNY and have gained all of their weight back and then some. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can handle my family? They are going to ask questions if I do not eat my favorite pumkin pie.............or should I stick to my fake sick plan...lol:rolleyes: Thanks for any suggestions

Sleeved on 11/9/10!
I'm having trouble with my liquids, so I've been eating sugar free popsicles they have been a lot easier to get down. And I sip water all day long right up to my bed time so far I'm getting down 16 oz of water since coming home from the hospital last Monday. Also I've noticed sipping water helps with the very full feeling. I hope this helps, I wish you much success in your recovery.

Creamed soups? are you kidding????
Hey I'm on full liquids as well to control my calories I have made all my Soups. The one I'm drinking now has 35 cals per serving and 21 grams of Protein. All you need is a crock pot, also try V8 light warmed in the microwave 50 cals and add unjury chicken soup Protein powder thats 150 cals. with 21 grams of protein. And as far as taste my husband ate a bowl of the creamy potatoe then told me it taste to good to be diet and he could not taste the protein powder at all. In regards to the yogurt it keeps getting stuck in my throat, so I've decided to try yogurt a little later in my journey I'm only 8 days post op. Let me know if you want to try any of my high protein low cal. soup recipes I will be happy to share.

Sleeved on Monday
Hello Everyone! I was sleeved this week Monday November 8th and today was my first full day home from the hospital. While in the hospital I had a few what have I done moments, especially during my upper GI the tech was trying to force me to drink 5 oz of Fluid with a staw next day after surgery. My first 3 sips made my stomach hurt really bad it's like I could feel my stomach fill with air each sip I took. It was awful, but once testing was done I had no leaks thank God and I made sure I told my surgeon what happened during my upper GI and he was not happy about it at all. Right after my upper GI the male nurse from hell told me to get up and walk even after I explained the amount pain I was in after my test and that I had already walked the floor twice that morning he just explained that they saw me walking but know one documented my time so I had to do it again and kindly told him to step off. In the end he forced me to to get out of the bed so I walked exactly five steps from my room turned arounded and walked backed and demanded my pain killer. The head nurse Cindy was really nice to me and after I explained to her that I had been moving and taking myself to the bathroom it was just the pain from my upper she understood and gave me my pain meds. I also informed her that nurse man from hell had not changed my sheets and I had been setting in chair all day long this was on Tuesday he did not change the bed untill Wednesday afternoon and I was discharged Weds. evening which was fine because I got up and change the bed myself. Other than nurse man from hell my hospital stay was find, I did everything I needed to do to go home. My first full day home has been crazy I have not been hungry so I put a chart together to track my full liquids I was only able to take in 25 grams of Protein today I did go outside and walk twice 10 mins each time it was really a nice fall day. I wanted this so badly and I do not want to mess anything up any long timers or newbies out there who have any pointers for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for allowing me to vent while providing my summary of the start of my new journey.

November 8th Date....Starting to get nervous
Hello Everyone, After fighting for 2 years to get sleeved I'm 6 days away from my surgery date and now I'm nervous. I watched nightline Monday, Oct. 25th which did not calm me down at all, first they made me angry with the statement "no diet or excercise, they've turned to surgery" I've not worked this hard in my life training my mind about portions, going to the gym three times a week and after surgery your "diet" changes even more leading to your weight loss. I hate news reports that make it seem that obese people are so lazy they had to create a RADICAL procedure in order for us to loss weight. Anyway after yelling at the television, I watched the actual surgery this did not help my nervousness and it freaked my husband out a little as well. To watch someone having their stomach removed really drove home how permanant this procedure is and how important it is for me focus after my surgery. I thought I was on a emotional roller coaster fighting to have surgery, now I see that was nothing compared to all the feelings you have the closer it gets to your surgery. This is why I'm really happy that I've found this forum, I get the encouragement that I need and the calm knowing others have felt the same as I have. Thanks again for letting me vent, while typing this post I could feel my nervousness slip away.

I'm not telling another person about my sleeve!!!
I started this journey with my husband and he has been very supportive during all the doctors visits, nutrionist etc. Now that I have a date this surgery has become more real to me, so I decide to tell my bestfriend, two good friends who are also co-workers. My best friend was very happy for me and she told me she's a little jealous (we both have been trying for over 2 yrs to get sleeved) I know she will give me support through this whole process. My two co-workers a totally different story, one started giving me diet tips and new excercises that I could do to loss the weight then she brought up my weight loss 3 yrs ago and said "if you did it then you can do it again." My second co-worker whom I also consider a friend basically said I was taking the easy way and that hard work makes you feel better about achieveing your weight loss goal. I nicely explained that their OPINIONS were heard but I did not agree with any of it and I will make sure I will keep all of the next steps of my journey to myself. Why are people still in the dark in regards to obesity? Most obese people are not lazy, and they are not looking for a quick fix but a solution to all the other health problems that comes form being obese. Weight Loss surgery is not and will not ever be the easy way out it's a hard journey with healthy you at the end. Thanks for letting me vent, also I'm not loving the new site set up.

Nails?
, All my surgeries I did not have to remove the gel from my nails, but I have a gel over lay on my natural nail so when I remove my polish you can see my nail clearly. Maybe as your nail tech to give you a gel overlay prior to surgery or just as your surgeon what is his policy. Good Luck!

Yay! I got my date! Yay!
Congratulations:thumbup:

new to the site and group
My surgeon explained to me that the sleeve would not cause problems during your pregnancy. The baby will receive everything the baby needs to grow strong. I know one person who had the band and had to have it removed due to complications.

Complications (Previous Post and Update)
Sorry about the complications I hope you find the help you need to get well soon:crying:

Anybody change their mind completely and NOT have the sleeve??
I do not have a date yet...but I understand how you feel I have been going to the gym 3 times a week and I've lost 15lbs now wearing some clothes from the back of my closet....lol The last few days I've been thinking about not doing this and continuing my gym membership...but then I thought about the 89lbs lost in 2005 gained back...65lbs in 2006 gained back....etc Now I've decided to look at the weight loss as a stepping stone to my new life after my sleeve and the new energy as starting my journey the right way. If we did not have doubt we would not be human....:confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1:

First consultation...what to expect??
My consultation was at Akron General Hosp. and I first spoke with the surgeon and we talked about my weight history (prior to my appt. they sent me a packet to complete) then I explained why I wanted the sleeve not the RNY. I spoke with his nutrionist, his head nurse and the insurance coordinator in which we discussed if my insurance would cover the sleeve and what was the critieria. So the whole thing was about 4 hrs. I hope this helps.
