  1. In a way I am relieved to hear it feels different after the band. I will not lie but I am scared because I have not heard from anyone who seems to have started the way I am starting. It seems that a lot of people are starting out at a lower weight (although that is not always the case). I am at 351lbs. But what really scares me is that I am not this way because I was ever hungry. I have the self control of a drug addict when it comes to food cravings. Now during my liquid diet I am sad because I miss food and I am afraid that I will never be happy again just eating a small amount of it at a time. But i am also unhappy with my life. I can't have kids at this weight...clothes are hard to but and expensive and I feel no pride in myself. I am doing well on the liquid diet but I am so sad. I'm not usually this negative and I have been posting about this for a week but I just want to know if anyone started like me?
  2. I do not have my band yet but will have it on the 7th of June. I was wondering what it felt like to eat solids the first time after being banded and also what it felt like after a fill? I'm really curious about tha physical sensations. And when people say full is that the type of full that makes you not want to eat another bite? Or is it more of "I no longer feel hunger pain" type of full?
  3. I usually cook it for more than one person and I am not much for measuring. I use 1 can of fat free or low fat refrained beans. You could also purée your own beans. Then I add 1 can of fat free chicken broth ( or bullion cube with water) and mix over the stove. I like a lot of pepper and some cumin for flavor. I will also sometimes put a small spoon of fat free sour cream or a small bit of shredded cheese in my bowl of soup but it is just as good without.
  4. I absolutely love bean soup!!! I can't wait till I can have some.
  5. Thanks I am so thankful to have so many peers. Without you all I feel like I would be completely alone.
  6. So I was wondering...do we have to do the protein shakes always? When I am restricted will I be able to get my protein without the shakes? I don't think I can handle more than a few months of them. I have tried four different kinds now and I loathe all of them. I just hold my breath and try to get them down.
  7. I have to have two protein shakes per day and either one cup of soup or 1 cup of low fat cottage cheese. I can have one snack of fat free, sugar free pudding, yogurt, or jello. Sugar free drinks and veggie juice is ok too. I hate the protein drinks though. They make me very nauseous and even though I am not supposed to chug anything I have to chug them or I get sick. I have tried two different types so far but both are pretty bad. But it seems like most people like them better than I do.
  8. I am 25 years old from New Mexico. I am currently on my first week of liquid diet and have two more to go. My starting weight is 351lbs (5"5') and I have an ultimate goal of 180lbs. Eating is a very self soothing activity for me and has been a problem ever since I was born. I don't know what it is like to be in a normal weight range. All I know is that food was the only true, and consistent happiness in my life. But I want to be healthy, I want to feel beautiful, and most of all I want to have children. I am very dedicated to this lapband journey but I would love some support from someone who has gone through or is going through the same. Ashley
  9. I have been doing bullion cubes in water. The receptionist at my surgeons office said it is ok but I am gonna double check. Two days in and I am overloaded with artificial sweeteners and I just want salt.
  10. I will definitely try that!! Thanks
  11. I just had my second shake of the barriatric advantage which I also had to buy and I am so nauseous I will have to go to the store first thing in the morning to find something else or I won't make it.
  12. Am on my liquid diet now and I desparetly want salt. I was wondering if there was any salty liquid that is allowed outside of the soup I can have?
  13. I'm on the 7th of June. Starting my pre op liquid diet now. Good luck everyone.
  14. I'm going to be baneded June 7 th. starting my liquid diet tomorrow. Are you super excited? I am! I hope this works!
  15. This thread scares me so much. I know I can't have any soda after surgery but honestly it is the one thing that I am the saddest to give up. I hope I don't miss it horribly forever after this. But it is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
  16. Thank you all for sharing and sorry for the multiple reposts. I feel better now about my current habits and I feel so amped to do this.
  17. I was wondering what people did before surgery in terms of practicing (chewing, not drinking with meals, small portions, etc.) I have been very bad and have not been doing any of the above and will be starting my three week liquid diet on Wednesday the 16th. Am I totally screwed or did anyone do the same and do ok after surgery? Don't get me wrong, I'm do committed to this and I did so good during the three month pre op diet with all these behaviors. I have just been enjoying myself and saying good bye to my old lifestyle because I am determined to do my best with the band.
  18. I just got my June 7 th surgery date. I start my three week per op diet on Wednesday May 16 th. three weeks of no food is scary but I have been working toward this for over a year. Sleep studies and CPap machines and diets and heart exams and blood tests and psych appointments etc. I'm so ready!!!!
  19. So I am a social work student with a 4.0 and will be going into finals in may. My question is whether or not to do my three week liquid diet during finals or should I wait. I am somewhat afraid I might loose my insurance in June and that is why I have the rush but it is not for sure if I will lose it or not. Was your liquid diet so draining that you couldn't handle something like finals???
  20. Thanks guys I have really been worried about it. Im so close but it seems like I might lose my insurance right after I get it. At least I hope I can get it before my insurance is gone. Keep your fingers crossed.
  21. Since there is a chance that I might lose my insurance I wanted to know what does it cost to get a fill without insurance?
