  1. I was banded on 6/17/12 and I am on the soft food stage and already having problems with control. I am still loosing but I just worry so much about the control. My therapist and I are gonna have to really start working hard on it. Thanks for your replies.
  2. I was hoping to hear from some bandsters who have been successful but started out with a bad food addiction. I know we all probably have a food addiction to some extent but I feel like mine is sometimes uncontrolable. I'm scared that I might not be successful because I am already slipping. I know this is about will power. I just want to hear from the people who started like me.
  3. So far my days are looking like this but I'm really new at this: Breakfast: decaf coffee fat free creamer and Greek yogurt, 4 slices no sugar added peaches Lunch: 1/2 cup BBQ pulled chicken and 1 Laughing cow cheese wedge Dinner: boiled green Beans, 1/2 cup baked salmon (lemon and dill)
  4. To stretch your pouch would you have to eat enough to feel really full even without restriction. Would you feel that you are overdoing it? I ask because now without restriction I haven't been sticking to half a cup of food per meal. The worst I have done is two cups of soft food during one sitting.
  5. So I thought it might be fun (and very, very helpful for myself and others) to try to generate some menu ideas. I do not do well without a plan and it takes me FOREVER! to write up menus for myself. I know we cannot all eat the same things sometimes but who better to know what a good lapband day should look like than my fellow lapbanders. So if you could tell me what you would eat for a whole day while following the lapband rules and even how you prepare the food (if you like) I would be so very appreciative
  6. I am in the exact same boat. I am two weeks out and I have already cheated some. I did a three week liquid diet and did not cheat but as soon as I started my soft food stage I have had some very intense cravings. I will be in the store and even though I am telling myself no, and pretty much begging myself not to I still get that thing that I want and then I want more. I decided not to beat myself up about it and I am working with a counselor to help with the food addiction but it is hard and I don't know if I believe in completely denying myself what I want all the time. I don't think it is healthy. I just want to be where I can have a treat periodically and then continue on with my healthy eating.
  7. Thanks you guys for letting me know. So now I am wondering what other styles of "diet" people use? What do your nutritionists tell you?
  8. OMG are you serious!? What kind of revision are we talking about?
  9. OK i feel like such a whiner but this has been bugging me and you guys always seem to make me feel better. I have very severe anxiety and I worry a lot about everything and I find that I am having anxiety attacks when I eat because I am so scared to get stuck. I have not gotten stuck yet and I have no fills yet. I think my big concern other than the pain is fear of loss of breath or choking. I am not sure if this even happens with being stuck but I'm really worried and I can't be afraid every time I eat. I do chew really well. Can you tell me what it feels like to be stuck and is loss of breath an issue? Thanks so much!
  10. What do they do if they want to fix the flipped port. Is the fix as painful as the original surgery?
  11. What are the p90x and spin classes like?
  12. So we are not supposed to drink for an hour after eating because the food will get washed through but the band is supposed to help you stay full for three or four hours. My question is: if you drink water an hour after eating does that not wash the food through? So theoretically wouldnt you get hungry soon after washing the food through only an hour after eating? Also, since we chew our food to a liquid like consistency why isn't all food slider food? Just wondering... I'm sure there is something I am missing.
  13. I was wondering what types of exercise everyone likes to do. I am going to compile a "to do" list for myself for when I can really start working out. I was a competitive swimmer when I was in school and I love weight lifting so those will be on the list for sure.
  14. I did a three week liquid diet and lost thirty pounds. It was really hard the first three or four days and then I got used to it. I did not go out at all and so I was not tempted other than when my boyfriend would eat stuff in front of me. I also exercised four times a week for 30-40 minutes. I don't know if they recommend exercise during this time but I think it helped me lose the weight. Sipping on water when you are hungry helped a lot too.
  15. Wow this is actually really worrisome. I am still having a lot of pain. But I am realizing that although my port area aches all the time and hurts pretty good half the time, my back is what hurts the worst. I never had back pain before but now it hurts so bad. I have been sleeping sitting up this whole time because I am uncomfortable laying down because of the port pain. What helped you all be able to sleep laying down?
  16. I have read that some people are following a 90/10 diet. Just from what I have read it sounds like this means following the lapband diet guidelines very closely 90% of the time and allowing oneself some excess 10% of the time. I could be misunderstanding though. Can those of you following this diet tell me more about it please? Thanks
  17. How long did you take your pain meds for? I am ten days out and almost out of my second bottle of pain meds with no refil. I have only used it twice today and go for as long as possible between uses but I am still having a good amount of pain and I am worried 1. Because I am going to run out soon and 2. Most people don't seem to need the meds for so long. ?????
  18. I was very hungry but at the same time I didn't feel good so I didn't want to eat anything.
  19. I had to do a three week liquid diet. The first day I was very depressed and it felt like I would never get to eat again and like I would never be happy again. I had that feeling on and off for the first week but it got better every day. My cravings were really bad for the first three days but I was amazed that they got very minor after that and when I crave I CRAVE!!! I lost thirty lbs during the three weeks and gained ten over the three hours of surgery ( they said it is normal) and I have not lost since but I am only a week out. Good luck it will be ok and you will do well.
  20. I am starting my mushie stage and I need some ideas on what to eat.
  21. Sometimes walking with my arms above my head with the muscles relaxed helped.
  22. (I only say this with respect and the best intentions. I just hope someone would try to say this to me if I am giving up.) Don't give up... Try again. You were strong enough and motivated enough at one point to go through surgery which is a big deal and it sounds like you have had success. It is very, very hard to lose weight and change ourselves. And scary. Try to remember how it felt when you were motivated and the things you saw in your mind when you thought about succeeding. It is still there. I wish the best for you.
