Pain Meds?

How long did you take your pain meds for? I am ten days out and almost out of my second bottle of pain meds with no refil. I have only used it twice today and go for as long as possible between uses but I am still having a good amount of pain and I am worried 1. Because I am going to run out soon and 2. Most people don't seem to need the meds for so long. ?????

I agree with Moya04. If you are still in enough pain to need the meds check with your doctor. I only took mine for 3-4 days post op.

I never got my prescription filled. I don't like taking meds. I took tylenol instead. I didn't seem to need them anyways. I would hurt getting in or out of bed and if I sit for long periods of time so

I am five days post- op and have been using mine still. Today i used it when i got up and again after supper. I am hoping to stop soon. I went to town to get just liquid tylenol but no one carried it otherwise i would be fine with that. Hopefully your pain goes away soon.

Wow this is actually really worrisome. I am still having a lot of pain. But I am realizing that although my port area aches all the time and hurts pretty good half the time, my back is what hurts the worst. I never had back pain before but now it hurts so bad. I have been sleeping sitting up this whole time because I am uncomfortable laying down because of the port pain. What helped you all be able to sleep laying down?

I'm sorry that I really don't have any good advice other than contact your doctor.

I would think that your back pain is from sleeping sitting up. Are you able to elevate your head in bed with pillows and lay that way? I did that the first few days after surgery. I hope things get better for you soon!

wow, I had my surgery on a Friday. By the time I was at work that Monday it made me sick to use them so I haven't touched them since. I have a good 20 left of 30 tabs.

You should see your surgeon.

I never got my prescription filled. I don't like taking meds. I took tylenol instead. I didn't seem to need them anyways. I would hurt getting in or out of bed and if I sit for long periods of time so I will get up at the first sign of discomfort. Walk around it will help the healing process.

At bed I would use a huge jumbo pillow that I have so I wouldn't be laying flat on it. But that was only for a couple of days. I got tired of laying on my back so I started slleping on my side.

You should definetely contact your doctor and let them know how you feel.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have never had anything stronger than tylenol or advil (before band) .

So I was afraid of the pain meds. Also, I was told that Percocet or whatever they use can make u nauseus and with my first surgery (gallbladder removal) 3 weeks before the band I was very nauseus and throwing up after the surgery. My surgeon said it was because of the anesthesia.

Thank God my band surgery was easier on me. :D

Me too I felt great I keep reading all these stories and I'm thankful o did good I went back to work 6 days Later I took my vacation during my surgery week
