  1. I think you are handling this well. You are thinking ahead and found a solution to it and let your daughter go to your brother's to bake! I do hope they can make butter cookies for your dad too!! They can be shared so she doesn't have to bring all of them home. This is a hard time of year to begin any kind of change and we have come to a decision and going forward with it to make a better person and life for us! I hope to be banded this month and for a while pondered going to my brother's as usual for christmas. I would be either on the pre surgery diet or liquids by then. I have decided I want to be with my family and they know I have changes I want to make....have to make.
  2. I'm glad your're ok and will get proper care for the mass. Hope it all turns out ok. Glad you're ok too frici! Lucky band!!
  3. Looks like the band is not only helping physically but also mentally. Knowing the band is there is helping you from eating as much as we want to, not as much as we need to so we're not hungry anymore.
  4. Hi, I hope you had a happy birthday and did not worry too much about what you have to come! We all need a day off from that!lol. I began with a seminar in August. I went thru all the steps and upper GI...then my Dr decided I should have a stress test. So I am getting that done next week and hope I can get news from my insurance co. in time to get banded before the new year. I have been stressing thinking about it! It just seems like the end is nowhere in sight. I feel like I'm at a stand still.... Actually the days are going by quicker than I thought. Next week isn't too far away
  5. Does anyone know if someone with heart problems can have the band? Just wondering.....
  6. Thanks to all that posted. I have a somewhat physical job and know that helps me now. I don't want to end up hurting myself tho!
  7. That's great! Gives us all hope!! I am on 4 bp pills and would love to get off them
  8. Is the 3 meal a day way gone now? How often do you eat now for one day, How many mini meals?
  9. Hi viking_girl! Congrats on the lose! Have any of the pre surgery problems changed? BP?
  10. Hi, I wondered if anyone had trouble moving around after the surgery? Did you need to rest a lot? I know that each one is going to be different. Just getting an idea of what I might expect. Thanks:unsure:
  11. Foxglove, that sounds great! I like that your being mistaken for your daughter!
  12. yeah, I used to wear make up every day and stopped, now I have started again. Not necessarily as much! I have been looking at new shades of lipstick, want to try new ones that stay one longer. Nice to have internet...you can go find out what people think of products before you buy!
  13. :thumbup:What kind of other things did anyone do when they got banded? Did you change hair style or change type of clothes....start wearing dresses? New make-up?:rolleyes2:
  14. He didn't mention a seminar. Our 2 wk diet is low carb>no bread, fruit, rice, baked goods, peas, corn, baked beans, potatoes, yogurt, and drink the hood calorie countdown milk only. I almost missed Thanksgiving, but I wouldn't mind so I could get the surgery. Now it'll be next month.
  15. I saw my Dr today and he wants me to see a cardiologist for testing to check me out for surgery. I will see him again 12/8. Thought I could start the 2 week diet sometime after T-day and be ready for it! What do you think? I'm not worried about the diet(I should do it anyway) I just have to cut out a few things like bread, fruit, rice.....
  16. Good deal!! I found out the papers my Dr was supposed to fax were put in my med file!! There they sat! I asked about it when I went this afternoon for an appt. Once he realized what happened he went into action. He wants me to see cardiologist for test to make sure everythings ok. I have appt for next week. I worry that time is running out....insurance...deductable will end. They all say it'll be quick and get done tho.
  17. I just finished my appts today. Found out my Dr never faxed my med history in! They said they faxed him a request for it. I have appt with him today and will inquire about it!

  19. Yes, great things are to come. Remember, this isn't something you will be doing for a short time and be done. We will have this change in our lives much longer than a diet we decided we would follow. I haven't been banded yet but know I can learn from those before me. Give yourself time to heal, don't let it distract you. I might need to read some of my suggestions later to remind me!!
  20. Yeah, I already said goodbye to my diet coke! I decided since I will might as well now so I haven't had any sodas for over a month. I already have been drinking water before. I got some single protein bars to try them out and I love the vanilla pure protein drink too
  21. Hi, I am so new I haven't got a date yet but with hope I will know later this week. That is what I'm anxious about! I think I have been thinking about all the things that will change too. When I think about the things we can't or shouldn't have I think about the bigger list of what we can have! Could be worse and be the other way around! I know things will change but as I read all the posts on this site I see someone else has done it and I can too! If I need help with something I can come here and find it. I need to lose 100+ and can only blame myself for getting there. No more looking back.....
  22. I have been stressing over what I'll hear on Wed. I have my appts to make. I hope they say ...Ok when would you like the surgery done? I and daughter were talking and saying how I should at least have T-day dinner. The more I think about it the more I want to say go as soon as possible! If I have a chance to start 2 wk diet now and go then I think I will. I've already had all this time to eat what I want and say good bye to some sweets ect lol I don't "have" to have m. potatoes and pies! There's still a lot of things I can have that are on the list. Did some of you have to make this desicision? In the back of my mind I wonder if they'll say I can't do it! Although I don't know why they would....
  23. I go see him next week, I imagine he will check that once in a while....he does that. He worries for me about checking anything! I want to make sure I take what I need. Thanks!
  24. Thanks, I got samples of the chews...not bad but seem to cost more. I'll probubly use them down the line too. I guess I'm worried about too much! I like yogurt and cott cheese so I will get some other form of calcium but want to make sure I get enough. Wasn't told I needed to get B-12 but haven't finished yet so we'll see!
  25. Hi, I started exercising last year more regular than before. I think I can get back on it now. I had some problems with foot(that started my pc Dr talking about this) and have been able to get back on wii now. I figure I will need some extra work with stomach. I saw Dr Whelchel for the surgery. Thanks
