  1. When it ws time for you to get on food from the liquid diets after surgery did anyone have something planned that they wanted to taste or try a little of? I do plan on having a moist cooked vegtable with whatever meat I have. We can start our meats and cooked vegs and fruits(soft and smooth) I looked at the roast beef hash but didn't know if I should have the potatoes. I have canned chicken and know it will be tender....had it on pre op. I know I will have more fish in the future for sure now!!
  2. 1-water 2-protein 3-exercise and start a new day each day
  3. Mine too...said to use flintstones chewable twice a day. I might try the gummy ones tho. That sounds nice having a little sweet! But they say not for 2 wks after. I wonder if it would help or matter if I started now....I feel soooo weak and can't be up long at a time! I'm on day 6.
  4. wtg!! That pre-op diet worked better than any of the advertised ones! But, who could stay on them longer than a few weeks!? lol
  5. Hi! I am ok except for the muscle aches on my sides! I'm trying to stretch them thru the day. My daughter and I went to Vitamin shoppe to look around. I got some Protein drinks to sample before I get a pack. Are you settled in now with you're eating? Is it really easy to get in all the protein we need in a day?
  6. I wouldn't worry until after you've had some more solid foods.
  7. I'm on day 5 and just started full liquids which according to my diet list includes pudding, mashed potatoes, crm of wheat and grits. I also can have cheese spread on crackers. After I had some of this I had a bm this morning! I was beginning to wonder when it would happen...I was feeling it the night before like it was coming. I guess I'm on track then.
  8. Is anyone watching these commercials for diets(nutra system ect.) and wonder why we didnt use the money to buy the foods they have? Did anyone try it first or wish they did? But, I guess I knew I would stray off of it soon from being able to have my dessert or 2nd serving of pizza! I needed something to help me limit what I eat. I can't wait til lmy side and back muscles feel better....they ache so much! I'm moving them around when I can. I wanna take my dog out for a walk again. I have taken him out in the yard but don't want to go further yet.
  9. Impressive! Good for you making sure you get what you need to get the results you want.
  10. The first two days were painful for me but the pain med helped that alot. I would compare it to my gb removal and when I had a cracked ribs a couple of years ago.....the pressure was intense! Don't take the abdominal/back support band off for a few days.
  11. Happy New Year!! I'm glad I was able to make it by now! I am on day 4 going to 5 and beginning this journey for me.
  12. And keep hydrated! Cat naps!....I was on the recliner most of the day on day 1 thru3! lol that's me. I feel stronger today and thinking about my soft diet in a few days.
  13. I know what you mean Jess!! People do things so differently too. Did you start calcium right away? My "book" says to start vitamins in 2 wks. so I thought we need to have time for healing before we take them.
  14. I will be going in for my first check up after surgery next week. Aside from how are you feeling what other things will they check on? How I'm eating, will they want to manipulate stomach
  15. Hey, that's great! I'm glad you wrote in case we have the sam symtoms. I am on 4 meds for bp! Now that I've had my surgery and already home I have good things to look forward to.
  16. I thought about the taste of food when I was on low carb diet.....I tasted everything for the first time instead of bite and swallow!! Now I will be ready to taste my food in a couple of weeks when i can have soft food! Surgery went well today and I was released to go home in a few hours. My daughter tells me I told the anesthesiologist that I just loved him!!! ....when i went under. LOL
  17. Wow, this whole post has been inspiring to me!! I am in good company .... be banded tommorrow am and will be back here when I can sit in front of pc!
  18. When they called about insurance approval they said surgeons office will call in a few days. That was on Friday and I had to WAIT all weekend. Then surgeons office called Tuesday with 12-28 surgery. Did my pre-op today. I will be staying one night.
  19. When I was told my insurance approved me....they said surgeons office will call in a few days with a date. That was Friday and I waited all weekend ....surgeons office called on Tuesday with a 12-28 surgery!! Had my pre-op today. I will be staying one night in hospital.
  20. Congrats!! I will be banded in the morning! But my daughter wishes it could be afternoon.....we need to be there at 6:30am!! I feel pretty good right now so I must be ready for this and know I want this! Hope I can sleep!!
  21. It took me awhile from when I began(my seminar was in Aug) but,,,my dr wanted me to have tests done before he sent in "his" approval. He wanted to check my heart out and that took 2 weeks to do. I'm thankful it went well after that! I will be at hospital tomorrow at 6:30am!!
  22. I quit the diet coke and all sodas. I have gotten used to crystal light and I think it feels better without the bubbles! I hope I don't have any different sense of taste but looks like it is common. I enjoyed reading this post and hope we can learn more from each other!! I come from a coffee family! Once my brother said...as long as there's coffee in the pot I'm drinking coffee!! I do switch to tea some days and enjoy the green tea. I wonder if how and what we taste is affected by what we eat? I mean if we have cut down on carbs will that change our sense of taste? or could it? It's like we can start all over and try things we didn't think we would like before! lol I'll be looking for Dave's wisdom after tomorrow.....surgery day for me!! take care!
  23. I guess that might be one more thing that changes with everyone or that we need to do without! In past years I hven't used a straw that much ......except in milkshakes. That was a treat since I don't drink em like I used to! Maybe one a year now! But I had increased ice cream cones........Some of the ice cream flavors were irresistable! Sparkplug...do you now eat as usual or in small meals through the day? You look like you have worked well with the band.
  24. Hi Ashley! Welcome to our group! I am Linda and will be banded this Tuesday. I am trying not to be too nervous for the waiting....I used to grab the sweets at this point!!
