Lapband success now moving on to excess skin removal
So is any skin removal covered by insurance or will it be up to us? I'm glad you will be able to get work done!! How long do they say it will have to heal?

Did your Dr have you stop meds......
Yes, I was wondering what kind of time span is involved. Like how soon have some meds been stopped. I'm sure some time needs to go by and everyone is different on how much they loose and how fast. I hope that I can stop all of my blood pressure pills eventually. I have been able to take all of my other pills ok. But one is chalky and dissolves easy and one is small. The bp pills are different sizes, but I can swallow them.

serious pain
Might be a good idea to keep track of when and what you ate if it keeps happening to see if there is a pattern.

Did your Dr stop meds gradually?
That's great! You were helped with meds right away ..wow. I am taking 4 bp meds! Beside having to pay for them I can't wait to see if I can live without them!! Glad you had such a change for the better already.

Drinks!
I know.....I was on the diet coke.....I'm beginning to taste it after I eat a meal! (cravings ) I still think about the feeling we might get if we did drink any. I lthink I'd be afraid to let it go flat and drink it. It still might cause some gas and lead to swelling. I stick with different flavored crystal light and propel drinks. I love iced tea so will be making more of that. They have peach tea ect that tastes more like the fruit than the tea.

Did your Dr have you stop meds......
I can see where chewing them would be preferable. I meant to post this in the post op group. I meant any meds like for high blood pressure, diabetes, ect that can become unneccessary after weight loss. I had gotten some Calcium pills that taste like chalk....they were the only citrate that I could find at the time. Next time I will get some chewable from the Vitamin shoppe I found. I have cheese(laughing cow) spread and crackers when I "chew them up" Yes, it's like chewing chalk......

1/2 cup of food
I am 10 days post op and had started all foods. I wanted something with a little flavor so I got a taco salad. I took out half of the meat and beans and some salad to bring to work for lunch. This filled me up and I munched on the lettuce and small cubed tomatoe last. I had a small piece of the shell that the filling soaked into. I knew I wasn't going to eat all of it!! I don't feel I will want to do that for a while. Although sometimes I would have them 2 days in a row, I can have something else for awhile. Before when I had a taco salad I would almost always have a taco to have with it! This time I was good on half of a salad! Felt good.

Did your Dr stop meds gradually?
I know that some of us can go without some medication after we have lost some weight. I am on blood pressure meds......did your Dr tell you to try stopping(controlled) or were tests done and he went by results? How was it done with you? Sorry I thought I was in the post op before when I wrote this question! (in pre-op)

1st Day Post Op- Feeling Very Sore
I thinki was burping all the time and making sure everyone heard me too!! Walking will help even if it's for short times. And I know when I had a cracked rib I had that machine to help me breathe so I wouldn't get pnumonia. I started doing without the machine. It's just inhaling slowly as long as you can and releasing it. I built up the time each time and thought it helped me. So it wasn't for many times when I started but it got better each time. I didn't want to be out of breathe very long!! Before that I just always seemed out of breathe.

Do you still have coffee?
Wow, thanks for all the insight!! Yeah, I knew it was dehydrating. But I have been a water drinker for years so I can drink enough water too. I love coffee and I like it black. I had a cup at work this morning and that's all I needed! So I will once in a while. I like hot tea too. Have had that in evening a few times since banding, I have many varieties on hand. I was glad to get back to work today. Had a little confrontation(I work with learning disabled individuals) but we're good. I even helped clean up as usual afterwards. I'm tired now tho! I was getting bored here at home :rolleyes3:

Where do YOU feel full??

Coughing at night
Has he tried raising his head on the bed....with pillows or put a pillow under the mattress to lift it. Then he can sleep with head raised.

Do you still have coffee?
I've been banded 8 days now. I was too sleepy, achy, ect to worry about having coffee til now. I used to drink it everyday sometimes into afternoon. I only pour a half cup now and that's good. I don't mind not having as much as i did but would like some. I know we all will get into our own schedules of eating and drinking to make it work. Is there a problem with caffinated ?

Skipping breakfast?
I know I need to have something or I will feel it a couple of hours later. Now if I'm in a hurry I will at least have a cup of yogurt. Maybe you will find something you love to eat now and you can use it for breakfast....esp if it has a decent amount of Protein to start you off. I felt that way a long time ago....I could do without brkfast and be fine. I didn't have time to take to have it. But I find I do much better when I have something.

Where do YOU feel full??
Lately I've been getting a headache...maybe that's from beginning my "all" food. I will get burps when I am full and shouldn't eat more. Just have to remind myself I'm uncomfortable because I'm full not because I'm still hungry! And it is good to step back and ask yourself.."have you eaten what you should?" then you shouldn't be hungry right now.

Have you found a good recipe for Chicken that you can eat?
That would be perfect for this...... It's a simple recipe my daughter brought home from work one day. Cut into strips and stir fry the chicken and put in warm wraps. Add pieces of tomatoes and ranch dressing and roll up! On my pre op I couldn't eat the wrap so I used lettuce to roll it up in! You can add seasoning to chicken and cook like you like it. I would add water to steam it.

Rash all over my body
Wow, I hope you find relief soon! Hope it's an easy fix.

Rash all over my body
That's what I wondered....if you had an elastic band around you after surgery? Mine gave me some redness but I took it off after 4 days. It was like those back braces we used in nursing homes with the velcro.

Just cant get my Sh*% together
I'm a week post op and feel tired ....I know if I dont get up and walk from time to time...exercise in some form it will take me forever to do it! Just have to get moving...I sat down and turned my music on earphones to get me moving. It's not much but I'm not just sitting here while I read this. If you have to take a break for a few minutes but get back up even if it's not for long!

Getting sick alot. Anyone else have this problem?
In addition to some of the thoughts here could our bodies be so used to having the extra fat on it and now have to fight illness a different way since we're lighter?

Muscle Milk....
I love the mm banana creme! I went to vitamin shoppe and got a few different brands to try before getting a big pack. The strawberry was kinda plain but am willing to try the mm powder in future to have on hand.
