  1. Sounds like heartburn to me. To me, heartburn and acid are the same thing.
  2. Head hunger for me is not my stomach growling. It's that feeling in my head "oh boy, what sounds good?"
  3. Very few people know that I am sleeved either. I don't think it's anyone's business. It's on a need to know basis. My kids know and a couple of my very good friends. I eat pretty normally now, so it's not that big of a deal anymore to eat in front of people.
  4. Yes, Miralax does work. It's great stuff. I still go to my support group that is held at my band doctor's. He recommends Miralax all the time. He said you can use it every day. It just puts Fluid into the place it needs to go. Once you're off liquids, and old weight watchers recommendation was to put some fiber one Cereal into your yogurt. It's good. It makes it crunchy.
  5. Get some benefiber and put it in your water or juice. You can also stew prunes. Get some prunes and put some water in a bowel. cook them in the microwave until they are very soft.
  6. I agree with Susan. If you're in a lot of pain, you need to go to the emergency room. The medication they told you to take at home may not be stong enough, and it's easy to get dehyrated. You might need an IV at the hospital.
  7. The people who can keep their band long term are very rare. There are an extrodinary amount of people who have severe problems with their esophagus and stomach from the band that is permanent.
  8. ice cream. I can eat a little bit but more than a little bit and I get horrible gas and diarrhea. Not that I need to eat a bunch of ice cream, but I do love ice cream. It's probably a good thing it makes me sick. That's the only thing really that I can say I have issues with. I can eat anything else. Any other sweets give me gas, but it's not painful gas the way ice cream is. If I eat candy, I will pass gas. My friend who is a nurse told me it's because the sugar does not properly digest since it moves out of the stomach quickly.
  9. The band made me constantly sick. It was an easy decision as soon as I found out about the sleeve that I wanted that thing out of me as soon as possible and to have revision surgery to the sleeve. The sleeve is everything the band was supposed to be-small portions and no hunger. The band can completely ruin your stomach and esohagus so I wanted it out before it did so much damage that it could not be repaired.
  10. The name of it is Crystal Light pure fitness. It comes in strawberry Kiwi and grape.
  11. There's 2 flavors of crystal lite that are sweetened with stevia. When I get home, (I am at my daughter's house) I will tell you the name of it.
  12. That 1/8 cup is just in the very begining. YOu should be supplementing with Protein shakes at that point. The farther out you get, the more you can eat, until it stablizes. I can eat half a sandwhich now, but I have to remove some of the bread. In the beginning, it was just 3 bites or so, if it was solid food and I supplemented with Protein Shakes.
  13. Be sure to post on the thread I started trying to count Dr Aceves patients. I am trying to find out how many people from this board have gone to him and what their experience was.
  14. Diva, do you think this thread should be moved? I want an accurate count of how many people have already had surgery there and the ones who are scheduled there. I am afraid people aren't finding it. Maybe it should go in general sleeve discussion? I know some people just go to new posts. I want it to be seen everyday though, and if someone doesn't post , it gets kind of lost.
  15. If you're having trouble with solids, go back to liquids and mushies. I would not eat oatmeal. It doesn't have any Protein in it and it's very high in carbs. Look for Greek yogurt, and you would be better off with cottage cheese if you like it. There is also a good recipe for the ricotta bake which is good, and higher in protein. When I first started out, I had to drink Protein drinks and stayed on mushies much longer because eating was hard. Eating with the sleeve is a learning process. Try not to get discourged because stalls are completely normal.
  16. I had surgery on a wed. and went back to work on mon. I planned to take a week off, but I felt so good that I saw no reason to stay home anymore. I have a desk job that sounds similar to yours. I guess it depends on your job. If they are really going to be short handed without you, I would say a week for most people is plenty of time off. There are people who have problems with nausea at first, but if you are able to get your Protein and liquids in, you should be fine in a week.
  17. Way to go Anna! I so remember when you wrote to me asking about the sleeve. Your post is so hearfelt and inspiring and it will be a big help to all those starting on this journey. Are you sure you need to lose 70 more lbs, Lol? You look great now!
  18. You will do great! Regain with the sleeve is not as common because it's made from the muscular part of the stomach which does not stretch like the RNY. You have made the right choice! I am really glad VST was able to help you win your appeal. Nobody should have to have a surgery they don't really want just because an insurance company tells them they have to.
  19. you will love Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos! They make everything go so smoothly, you have nothing to worry about. Did you post on my Let's Count Dr. Aceves thread? I am trying to see how many people from this board are his patients.
  20. I don't think it's possible in the US to get a price that low. The doctor that did my band surgery is doing sleeve surgery on people now for 11,000, but the don't even get to stay in the hospital. In my opinion, you need to be in the hospital.
  21. You are very newly sleeved. I would not worry about it. You'll be able to eat more later, and you'll be able to get in more protein and things will sit well. You're still very new at this.
  22. Really you have nothing to worry about. Some people are uncomfortable for the first few days, but I have hardly ever read where people were in pain. As far as living with the sleeve, I really feel like I eat pretty normally now. I can eat half a sandwich. I just had company for 3 days and they had no clue that I had WLS. I ate what everyone else ate, just smaller portions than they did, but I am a much smaller person now so it didn't seem weird to anyone.
  23. Way to go Diva! I am so glad you choose Dr. Aceves. The fun has just begun!
  24. It really sounds like you are dehydrated. There are some people who have had to go back to the hospital and have IV fluids. Being dehydrated definitely causes nausea. Most people go to the emergency room when they feel like you are describing. Are you on an acid blocker? The bile you are describing sounds like an acid problem. It also sounds like you're not getting answers from your doctor. If it were me, I would find another doctor. If you read this board, there a are only a few people who have had problems, and the hundreds of others are very happy with their sleeve surgery. Find out what is wrong because you should not have to live like this.
