  1. I am in Mexicali for my face lift. I have been here for 2 weeks. I have seen Dr. Campos several times, but Dr. Aceves has been MIA every time I was at the hospital. Today I went to visit Erica, ( Ricky) and ran into him finally. We had the greatest talk. I was asking him about complications, leaks, etc and he told me something everyone should know. He said a man who was one year out, was on a cruise and stuffed himself too full. He ruptured his stomach! The man ate so much, he is near death. He has been in the hospital for 4 months. (Not in Mexicali) So, I am going to remember that. Even being 2 years out, I sometimes eyeball my food wrong and I am too full. It's not a good feeling.
  2. I have days like that and I am 2 years out. One day I am really afraid that I stretched my sleeve and the next day a few bites and I am too full to finish my meal. I am glad I had as upper GI while I am here in Mexicali. It showed my sleeve has stretched the exact amount it has supposed to at 2 years.
  3. Dr. Luque did ultra sound on my face every day and it got rid of the bruising pretty quickly. I still have some swelling. I don't mind telling it was $5,000
  4. have you gone to the food section of the forum? There is a whole list of places to get samples as well as ratings of all the different protein drinks available.
  5. Isn't there anyone who would like to chat? I am sitting here in Mexicali recovering from my face lift. BORED! Would love to have someone to talk to!
  6. You have a high enough BMI and if your insurance covers it, I don't see any reason why they would not cover you.
  7. I just had a face lift to get rid of mine. I could not stand to look at it. I am 2 years post op so I got sick of waiting to see any improvement. I am in Mexicali right now. Wed. it will be 2 weeks since my face lift. It's been fun staying in Mexicali and I absolutely love Dr. Luque.
  8. It's terrible all that Renee went through. I know things are done differently here in Mexicali because i just had a face lift and I asked my surgeon for stronger pain meds. He said Mexico does not have access to a lot of the medications we have in the United States. I am glad Renee went to Dr. Aceves. I shudder to think what would have happened if she had been in a recovery house where the people who took care of her would have not even been nurses like some of the Mexico options . Since she chose to go to Mexico, she went to the very best surgeon and hospital possible. With all that being said, not many people have problems when they go to Mexicali. I was one that had no pain and was walking around the neighborhood by the hospital the next day after surgery.
  9. yes there have been people who have had celery or coconut ball up in their stomachs and cause a lot of problems because they would not digest.
  10. Erica I felt really bad that I was on the phone when you called. If it had been anyone else, i would have told them I was going to need to call them back. This person and I have been trying to connect for a week playing phone tag. I can't wait to hear updates. We are going to call the hospital and see how you're doing. If you feel good enough, maybe we can come by tomorrow instead of wednesday. Just let me know how you're feeling. Please feel free to call me too if you get bored in your room. I was bored a lot with most of the channels on tv in spanish.
  11. If you find something you like try ivitacost.com They have so much stuff and it's so much cheaper. They almost always have 4.99 shipping on orders over 49.00 but they shipping is only 4.99 for no matter how much you order.
  12. I've been sleeved for 2 years and I basically eat anything I want. I can't eat very much of somethings, of course, but I never feel deprived.
  13. It does sound like Thrush . Can you check with your doctor?
  14. I used Noixon shampoo and it didn't do a thing. I got in all my Protein and took every Vitamin under the sun that was supposed to be for hair. I've been taking Biotin for 5 years. I lost 2/3 of my hair because I lost it with both the band and sleeve. It's growing in now, and I have little short hairs all over my head.
  15. I had surgery on a wed . and I went back to work that following Monday. Dr. Aceves keeps all his patients 3 days. You need to ask your doctor how long he keeps his patients in the hospital. AS far as how long to take off work, everyone is so different. I could not even tell I had surgery. I had no nausea, had no trouble getting my Protein or my Water down, so I felt great. That's why I was able to go back to work in less than a week. There are others that can barely take a sip of anything, and they feel weak. You're lucky you can work from home.
  16. Yes you need to check with the doctor regarding starting any fluids by mouth. I am glad to hear she is home and on the road to recovery. Are you willing to share who her surgeon was?
  17. I don't believe in that Protein first rule. I know if I eat protein first, I'll be too full to eat any veggies. So I will usually eat some veggies first. I get plenty of protein through my Protein drinks so I don't worry about it. I snack on fruit. I like to cut up an apple and put Peanut Butter on it. I eat which ever fruit is in season. In the summer, its blueberries and strawberries. I also drink Miralax every day because I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  18. I was one that could drink as much as I wanted to as fast as I wanted to. I had to force myself to drink more slowly. As soon as I got to mushies and solids, it was a completely different story. You're doing great!
  19. Welcome and congratulations on your up coming surgery. We are a very friendly group and it's been really helpful to have so much support as we have here. I just celebrated 2 years post op and I can tell you that living with the sleeve is pretty effortless and the best thing I have ever done.
  20. Make sure the doctor gives you something for nausea. You'll get dehydrated. It will be better soon and you will be watching the scale go down. Believe me, it will be worth it in the end.
  21. That's great that your ins. will pay for a revision to a sleeve! Congratulations! Your story sounds like mine. I lost all my weight and got to goal then started having band problems. I am so glad to have the band gone. I love the sleeve. you will too!
  22. It sounds like you need to talk to your doctor about this.
  23. When I eat carbs, I start craving junk food. Now that I am 2 years out, I can eat more than some people. I can eat Protein and eat some carbs too. I just know that if I do, I'll start craving more carbs.
  24. I loved Mexicali so much I came back here for 2 weeks to have my face lift done. It's very safe and wonderful here! I've already been here a week. If you need any information, just send me a message. Everyone who has had their revision done by Dr. Aceves are happy and were thrilled with the care they got here.
  25. usually when you click on somebody's ticker, it will bring you to that site to make the ticker. Then after you put in all your information it gives you a code. Go to your user CP for your signature and that's where you copy and paste it in.
