  1. Watch for clearance sales also. I've gotten some very nice things on clearance for like $3 from Macy's and JC Penny. I also shopped Goodwill in the beginning and got some things that were like new.
  2. You are going to be thin and wearing really cute clothes before very long. You're going to have a whole new life. Just take one day at a time and remember when God closes a door, he opens a window. You're going to have a big huge window of opportunity opening up to you now!
  3. Try mixing it in sf pudding! the cheesecake is the best.
  4. I stayed at the Comfort Inn which was near old town and it was nice and I thought reasonable. My surgeon' s office made all the arrangements and i am sure that through his office, I got a discount.
  5. hey I am Greek and love Chobani. It's delicious. Raspberry is my fav. I also like other brands mixed with sf pudding, or DaVanci 's sf syrup . I use cherry and raspberry.
  6. cottage cheese is very high in Protein. there are many ways to eat it. Some people like it heated with spaghetti sauce on it. they say it says like lasagna. others like to mix it with yorgurt., If you're on mushies, you can take chicken breast and after it's cooked, put it in a mini blender and make chicken salad. Pro pudding you can order from amazon.com 25 grams of protein 145 calories and 4 carbs. I got the chocolate and it's really good.
  7. Yes, you will be seeing both of us very soon. We will visit you at the hospital. I have to say, I like Almater hospital better than the one I was in for my face lift. There was nothing wrong with it, but Almatar is just so great, it's hard for another hospital to as perfect as that one is.
  8. On Tuesday I was picked up from the SanDeigo airport by Dr. Juan Luque's driver. We drove for about 2 hours to Mexicali. I had a bunch of lab tests, ekg and chest x ray, and then I had to meet with an internal medicine doctor to be sure I could have surgery. then I met with dr. Luque and he drew pictures and was so patient and sweet about answering all my questions. Wednesday morning, I had my face lift Everything went well. I stayed in the hospital for one day but I was so bored, that Dr. Luque released me to my friend Michelle or AKA WasA Bubble Butt's house where she could take care of me. She has been a nurse for over 25 years. I have to admit it's much more comfortable in her house., She is sweet to do this for me. It's more painful than I expected. My hat goes off to those who will have a full body lift. My incisions hurt, and the swelling makes my skin feel like it can't possibly stretch any farther. The drains are not much fun either. They keep dripping blood all over the place. The stitches around my eye lids are quite annoying too, as they poke me in the eye. All in all, they say I will feel great in 4 days. I can't wait for that. I am anxious to see how I will look. Right now I am all black and blue and swollen. In the end, I know it will be worth it. Thanks to WasA for her generosity and caring. I could not have done this without her. I will post some pictures when I get back to Oregon and somebody shows me how to do it.
  9. Not too surprising, most of the people on this poll were sleeved by our wonderful dr. Avceves!
  10. I don't necessarily think that this is the surgeons fault until we hear more details. I think all surgeons run into complications they did not expect. I hope we hear from TDBlackbelt to hear how his fiance is doing.
  11. I will be honest here! At a year out, I am more hungry now than I was in the previous months. IF I handle my sleeve totally correctly - not drink before, during or after meals - eat Protein first, etc - I still cannot eat very much at all. BUT, I have found that about 1 1/2 to 2 hours later, I want to eat again. Something, anything. And because of that I have started to pick up some bad habits again. Snacks! I am at goal - lost 101 lbs and haven't regained (other than 2-3 up and down pounds) weighing around 150-153. Anybody else experienced this? Went through a bout with very low potassium and low blood sugar and still, at times, get that "shaky" feeling. I think some of this makes me "need" something quickly at times. I TRULY do not want to regain or put myself in a position to recreate old habits. Anybody else battled this? I battle this all the time. I really don't get hungry, if I stay away from carbs. That does not stop me from wanting to eat though. It's mind over matter sometimes!
  12. Try taking some immodium.
  13. I'll ask if there is any way to post it on here. I am not good with computers but my friend that I will be staying with is so if there is a way to post a picture of my sleeve on here, she would know how to do it.
  14. Thanks everyone. I will tell them how much we love all of them. I know I'll be happy when this is all over and I am all healed, but right now, it's pretty scary. whew.. what am I doing?
  15. I should be able to keep right on posting from Mexicali.
  16. You look Hot Diva! You're going to be losing that last 20, so you better buy another pair.
  17. Jay Robb Protein drinks are made with Stevia. Are you against Stevia too? It's a plant. The Vitamin Shoppe sells individual packets so you can try it without buying a canister. It's 19.99 for not a very big can. A lot of people really like the Jay Robb .
  18. Sunday I leave for a little trip. I am going to stay a few days with a friend and then tuesday I fly out to Mexicali again. I am going to have a face lift. It will be done by Dr. Juan Luque. I can't stand my turkey neck and the big lines . I heard the plastic surgeon at my irl support group. He calls them marionette lines. I hate them! So my friend moved to Mexicali. I will be in the hospital for 4 days, then I am going to go and recover at her house . I'll be gone 2 weeks. I haven't told many people and I hope I don't look much different. It's pretty scary to have someone cut on your face! I am really excited that I am going to see Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos again. I am going to have an upper GI while I am there, which I was supposed to have done a long time ago. I am not having any problems, but Dr. Aceves likes to look at the sleeve after you are post op awhile. I'll be able to find out how much it's stretched. I am scared and excited both. What an adventure.

That's cool Tiffy! Are you running around in shorts? I wish it was warm here. I bet you look adorable!
  20. Try mixing plain Greek yogurt with Jello sf cheese cake pudding. It's delicious. I like banana pudding too. Chobonis Greek yogurt is the very best. It's so smooth and creamy!
  21. If you're going to be in the hospital for the first night, you will be fine! The first 24 hours were the only time I felt like i needed to be in the hospital, but Dr. Aceves keeps us 3 days. I was fine to travel home from Mexico alone.
  22. I think I eat pretty normally. I can eat most of half of a sandwich if I remove part of the bread. I normally don't eat bread though. There are days where I can hardly eat. A few bites and I am full . There are other days, I feel I can eat way too much. It's weird. Restriction seems to change. I am single so I eat out a lot. If I eat a salad before my meal, I can't eat much of the meat. It's okay though, because I need the veggies sometimes! I still drink Protein drinks and there are many that I love. I tried to get off my ppi. I tried for 6 months. I finally started taking it every other day because the heartburn was not making me happy. Every other day seems to work fine. I really don't get hungry unless I over indulge in carbs. Carbs do make me hungrier. If you have any other questions, just ask. I am in the chat room a lot in the evenings too.
  23. Now that it's been over 2 years since I had my surgery, I don't have to chew nearly as much as I did when I did for most of the first year. I know which foods take extra chewing too.
  24. I would not even consider any other Dr. besides Dr. Aceves due to his extremely low complication rates. You can read about him and his experience in the doctor section or you can pm me and I will email all his credentials to you. I felt extremely safe in Mexicali. I was very bored in my room so I took frequent walks outside all around the neighborhood of the hospital. Everyone was very friendly. There is a reason he is the surgeon of over half of this board.
