  1. You ARE amazing Irene! I am so glad you are here on sleevetalk now instead of struggling away with that band. I am also really glad you went to Dr. Aceves . I know the first doctor you had in mind is a really good doctor but so is Dr. Aceves and every dollar counts when you are a self pay! I stick around here because there are so many new people all the time. I know a lot of people no longer post after about one year post op . Life gets really busy when we're out enjoying life instead of sitting home wishing we were thinner. I know YOU won't be one of those people who stop giving encouragement to new people because YOU ROCK!
  2. As soon as you feel ready and most people say it's only about a week. There are positions that you don't have to put pressure on the stomach at all.
  3. Don't worry. When you find the person you are meant to be with , he is not going to care about loose skin. I post a lot on the singles board on OH and everyone talks about this issue. The ones that have found bfs say their bfs don't care at all. Losing weight is going to open up a whole new world so enjoy the ride!
  4. I take 1500 mg of calcium citrate in 500 divided doses. Your body can't absorb more than 500 at a time. I take a multi and vit d 3. Everyone should have their vit d 3 checked. Most people are deficient. I also take a b complex and a b12 sublingual once a week, and Iron. There are a lot of sleeve patients who become anemic and I am one of those.
  5. The RNY is a much more complicated surgery. If any surgeon has done a lot of gastric bypass (RNY) they are more than capable of doing a sleeve. It's the staple line that is important and the would have done many staple lines if they have been doing gastric bypass for years.
  6. Your story sounds identical to mine. Just get that band out! I hope your insurance covers sleeve surgery because life with the sleeve and the band are like night and day. I can eat anything I want and I have been maintaining my weight loss for over a year. This was the best thing I have ever done for myself.
  7. Congratulations! Life with the sleeve is so great and I am really glad to hear you are enjoying life and maintaining!
  8. I eat the ones from Costco occasionally. I used to eat them all the time but then I tried the Oh Yeah bars. I love them. I get them from vitacost.com
  9. I told my kids and my best friend who was getting sleeved a week after me. I just told people ( everyone knows I work out all the time) that my exercising and eating right was finally paying off !
  10. Tiffy I am so happy your little miracle Tatum and you are doing so well. I can't wait to see her. I hope these next 3 months just fly by for you!
  11. Do you really want to take the risk of cervical cancer? Call the health department and see if they have a sliding scale.
  12. Mine has not. I only have to take my PPI every other day, but I tried to go off of it completely without success.
  13. You can say you're trying to lose weight or watch your weight or watch your girlish figure etc. I dated a lot with the sleeve. I said I had late lunch, or a little bit of an upset stomach too. After I got to know someone, I told them the truth. I've never had a negative response and my current bf tells me I am a cheap date. We share food a lot!
  14. If you have a GNC they are usually really good about letting you sample things or bring things back if you keep the receipt. You could try Isopure which comes in several flavors and are more fruity tasting than milky. You can try Kellogs Protein Water which only has a little protein but it's better than none. The nectar Protein drinks are very thin and a lot of people like those. You can get samples of that online too.
  15. Yes, I agree. You need to see a doctor. Gall bladder pain is normally on the right, but it sounds like something is definitely going on that a doctor needs to diagnose.
  16. I was never big to begin with but before surgery, I wore a 40 C. Now I wear a 34 A which is normally too big in the cup. The AA ones are for little kids and basically have no material on the sides so stick to the A cup. I hate it. I'd love to have boobs but I don't want surgery. I asked my plastic surgeon when I had my face lift, and he said I would totally lose nipple sensation. I don't want that!
  17. Go to the food section of this board and there are a lot of places you can order samples. You can order the nectar samples and samples of many different kinds of Protein drinks. Most people say their taste changed after surgery, so it's not a good idea to buy a big tub of anything just yet .
  18. Anyone know any homeopatic ways to ward off UTI. I've had to take an antibiotic before sex for years now and they aren't working anymore. Have had several recent UTIs followed by a yeast infection. It was suggested on another board to use lube and that would cut down on UTI. I have been under the care of a urologist for years now but I still have problems. I am going to try D Mannose Has anyone heard of it? I've heard of women having luck using that. It's very expensive though. It's supposed to make it so bacteria can't stick. Gawd I hope so . I hope the the other board's suggestion of more lube helps. Maybe if it's slippery enough, bacteria can't stick l I am willing to try anything!
  19. Proti is a brand that makes a lot of different flavors of soups. The tomato is pretty good. I got it from my band doctor but I am sure you can get it online. Jay Robb is pretty good. It's very thin if you make it with Water and not strong tasting. I make it with vanilla soy milk and I think it tastes better. I do like the Premier from costco too and muscle milk light but I have heard of others who hate muscle milk. Go to the food thread and there are a bunch of places to order samples. As for unflavored, I used GNC and put it in something strong tasting like cran-rasberry light and lemonaide. It's unflavored, but Protein does have a taste. You cover it up with divinci syrups too. There are a lot of flavorsl
  20. I love the bariatric advantage chocolate chews. They are way better than the viative thats in the stores that is calcium carbonate. i am glad I found calcium citrate in a choc chew. They are yummy!
  21. you can mix in sf jelly or sf cheese cake pudding is really good. I like to mix in blue berries and stevia.
  22. I don't know why that would happen with the sleeve. I had that happen all the time with the band. Maybe you should ask your doctor if you should be on a different PPI? If it keeps happening, definitely talk to your doctor.
  23. Congratulations on getting that band out. Most of the time, it's done all in one surgery. The endoscopy will definitely tell if you have any complications that would prevent the surgeon from doing it all at once.
  24. It does take a few classes to get used to it and know which weights to use. After that, you'll have your weights close to you and you'll be able to change the weights for the next routine. i agree that it's a great work out for cardio and strength training all at the same time.
