Shoe Size....
I went from a 9 wide to a 7.5 regular!

Scared of Complications now
Complications are rare. Don't read the horror stories on the internet as a lot of them are not factual or meant to discredit a doctor. Possitve attitude is everything! The reality is you have a higher chance of a "complication" going out and driving your car today than your will have from surgery.

Water issues
My Nut told me that many sleevers can not tolerate plain water post op. No reason why given. I could not stand plain water before, so I usually drink diet rasberry snapple or lipton diet white rasberry tea most of the time.

Eating solids
I sip while eating, never more than an ounce or 2. Never has anything "washed" through the sleeve for me. I am guessing it was not the peel on cucumber so much as the size.

Eating solids
Wow, I was not allowed salad until week 6. I had full liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 more works. Even at 5 and 6 weeks my best friend was yogurt. I just can not imgane eating at 3 weeks anything that was not super soft. At 5 weeks Carl budding meat gave me a stuck episode!!

How long were you on an acid reducer?
I took them steady for 2 months and now as needed only. I am not sure but I was told they like you to take them during the healing phase because it helps the stomach lining heal. I never have acid reflux per se, but every so often I find something that does not agree with me and I get kind of a raw feeling in esophagus, usually gone within a hour of taking the nexium.

Desperate for answers!
I googled it and it all referes back to a physical therapist. Call your insurance and ask for a supervisor.

Emergency Surgery 1 month after being sleeved
Wow, I am so sorry you had this happen to you! Did you develope a leak or have a actual tear? If it was a tear was it from lifting? Here is to a speedy recovery. I am sure Tiffikins will be along with some great words of wisdom and support as she had a heck of leak post op.

The date is set
My EKG showed low voltage. I was referred 2 days before my surgery to get clearance. Searched the internet over and over about what it meant. Boiled down to an untrained person placing the leads! Congrats on your date!

New NSV's, but not sure how I feel about some.....
I work for a village and that has several departments in different buildings. Last night all the departments came together for National Night out against crime and I got to see some people for the first time since my surgery. One lady who I have know for over 20 years looked at me, her jaw dropped and she said to me Where is the other person you used to tote around,, I laughed and said I lost her somewhere. Then another lady jumps up and said "OMG" you look great! What are you doing. I simply said Protein first, then a veggie less than 40 carbs a day and working out... I wasn't lying, but I was omitting. Obviously the word had not reached public works and I did not feel like sharing in such a public place.. Then a lady from the Fire Department Says Look at you, you are wasting away to nothing! Now I know she meant well, but at 153 pounds I am hardly wasting away. I know she knows about the surgery. Then this morning my Sergeant comes to me (he struggles with his weight) and says to me,, a lot of people are worried about you,, you are getting so thin you will blow away. Of course that shook me after the wasting away comment and I went to a close co worker who has known and supported me from day and asked if I looked sick or drawn and she got a a screwed up look on her face and said NO, I then explained the comments and that I was just checking because I know I do not have the ability to REALLY objectively look at myself ( I will always be fat). She said it is just his insecurities about his own weight coming out and I do not look sick, nor has she heard "concern" for my health and trust me she is one of those folks you go to if you want to know the rumor mill. So then tonight I go to a Physical therapy session for the first time in over a year for a rotator cuff injury to a place that had seen me at 271 pounds for bulging lumbar disks. Now there I had a little fun. Clearly the owner who had worked on me before was like, I know you, but I just can not place you......................... It was fun to see his face and I am going to see how long it takes if ever for him to put it together. I think I had more fun with it because you PT folk are into fitness and clearly respond to people who work out with more positiveness. Well I wore my work out out fit, rode my bike there and parked it inside(it is expensive) so they could not help but notice and they were all like, Not to many our clients show up here while working out getting to their therapy. Can you say Grin, Grin Grin:) And for the very First TIME IN MY LIFE I DID NOT MIND LOOKING in the mirror during my exercises to check my arm position and well checking me out. (YES I can still pick myself apart, but over all I like what I see compared to a year ago!) So is that a conundrum of feelings or what??

I cried at the supermarket today
MEN! My husband asked me 4 days out if I wanted a candy bar or MC D choc shake! I glared at him ( he is lucky to be alive you know) and he says What, one here of there cant hurt! I was like um hello, had my stomach cut out 4 days ago?????? You are over tired, adjusting to big changes and hormones go nuts right after surgery, it is totally normal to have crying jags! The good news is in a month you will be super high on your weight loss and laugh about this!

Diet does no good - Study
Thank you for that, I am showing my husband this, he thinks at 450 pounds he can cut out a few things and win this battle.

Did any of you ever wonder...
And this shall pass................................ Unless you are eating Milk shakes and candy all day you can NOT not succeed! Just keep in mind that your body has gone through a lot and is in shock, surgery, weight loss. Your body is fighting to hold on to it's norm. Most folks loose a few, stay for a while, lose a couple, stay for a while, maybe in gain a pound here and there(water) and go back down. It is steps, not a cliff dive when it comes to losing.

Dietician is confusing me!
2 thoughts, Is fatsecret or myfitnesspal.com and option.... you type in what you ate and it figures it all out for you? Then she can look at it? My other thought is get a different nut!

THE MORE I TRY TO EAT RIGHT
OH YES! He is 400+ and gaining. The more I eat right and lose, the more he goes out his way to eat crap! I won't even get into our conversations, and I really do refrain. However it is coming to an ultimatum. I am not going to be a widow.

Good info! Muscle loss and weight loss
Helps brain function?? Heck I am tripling my doses! I need a bran to build that muscle! So I just read my costco protien shake and it does not list either ingrediant. I guess it is off to GNC tonight during my savers card days. I hope this comes in a pill, I so done with powders!

So I fired my WL Surgeon!
Yeah he is great man, he gave me life again! However I am fed up with his snotty, intolerant, non competent staff! I really despise his Medical assistant that all pt question go to and she always had attitude like you must be stupid! Not one time have I received a call back from them about my labs! I finally called and had them faxed to my GP and he is now following me and for a damn site less I might add. The Surgeon charged 2000, Yes TWO GRAND one set of labs. My GP just ran the EXACT same labs for 340! Can you say rip off????? Oh and for the 1700 savings I also received a phone call in 3 days telling me they were stellar. Now that is service! When the Surgeons office called to confirm my appointment I told them I would not be back and they replied with well agreed to 5 years follow up care, not rude incompetent staff! She said I would still be charged for the visit and I replied to her, Oh, did I mention my attorney wants to talk you? Her is her number. Never got a bill nor a follow up call to see why I was so mad.

DEFECTIVE SLEEVE?????
Ok, this really means you are lucky. Your body did not react with the swelling most of get from surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah YOU! You will feel restriction when you get to solids, believe me! chicken is like the worst. 3 bites and you are done! liquids equal slider foods, slide right through the sleeve. You did not say what you started at? How old you are, these are all factors. Additionally a lot of us gain weight at the hospital due all IV fluids and then your body perceives the trauma and does not want to let go of things just in case this is a full fledged attack and thinks it just may need to fluids and fat for the fight! I only lost 14 pounds at my 2 weeks check up and I was depressed. The doc said because was older (39+8) and because I was a lower start weight and I had taken off 50 on my own my body was going to fight me. Now it has come off oh yeah, but it has been more like loose 3 gain 2 loose 4 gain 2 with many many 6 weeks week stalls! Most of us do not see great drops unless we start really high off on the scale. But the one thing all of us share is that once you loose a good bit it becomes a fight to take it off, the body fights us all the way (weigh). Be pateint and kind to yourself. Apply your new eating choices till they become habit and you will not fail! Just told some one else this on another post but here is goes again, Breath in, Breath out, Move on. The time is always now. Don't sweat the small stuff, you are doing just fine my friend!

2 Early NSV's (4 weeks Post-Op)
Hey,, take what you can get> The only time since NOV I have not weighed myself is when I am on vacation! YES that kills me on vacation:) However I stopped sweating the stalls. They happen and they suck, but rather than killing myself with exercise to break it now I am like hey look how much you have lost, if it never moves again oh well. Now it seems I was just stuck at 165 for 6 weeks and today without much effort ( long story broken foot) I weighed in at 153!!!!!! I do believe that we through ourselves in stalls by exercising way more than the calories we are taking in! The important message here is stalls will happen,,, I have had more than I have lost (or so it seems) but there is NO way to fail the sleeve unless you are doing Mc D milk shakes and sweet tea all day! Breath in, breath out, move on.The time is always now. Don't sweat the small stuff and do happy dances when the good things show!
