  1. I know when I was first home from the hospital the smallest sip of anything produced all kinds of gurgeling from my stomach and that has stopped. I am actually suprised how much more I can drink at one time now. At nearly 3 months out I am noticing I have all kinds of noises going on when I eat. It ranges from stomach growling sounds to needing to burp or sometime a belch with out warning. At work my co worker has been very good about this as we work and eat in close quarters and she knows it is from the surgery. I don't worry so much at restaurants as there is enough noise to cover it all. What I do worry about is having to be out with someone I am not usually around and all that noise occurring. Does it get better with time like the the sipping did?
  2. About a month ago I started birth control pill and put on 4 pound in a week! I went from191 to 195 and stayed there for nearly a month despite stopping the BC pills after 2 weeks. I tried everything from upping the exercise to Water pills. NOTHING! I then took a good look at my calorie intake and was shocked that on a good day I was taking in 550 calories! I thought how in the world was I going to get more calories in with good food as I was stuffed on what I was eating. So I added a protien drink in a day and found some protien bars with only 15 carb at GNC. Still nothing moved for a week. It was really playing head games with me! I then decided the last couple days to splurge. I had myself a fried chicken finger for lunch yesterday, then at dinner I ordered a chicken sandwich that the menu described as a sliced chicken breast, only to find the chicken was fried when it came out. DOUBLE GUILT, 2 fried things in one day! OMG. Well I said what the hell maybe it the shock my body needs. Since I can only eat about 2 oz of meat any way I figured it was not that bad. ( I never eat the bread). So then I take the rest of the chicken home and have it for lunch the next day. I thought for sure I would put on weight with all that at 3 meals, but I woke up today to find 2 pounds gone! A month of not budging after gaining and BOOM 2 pounds gone like that! AMEN! I am not psyched again and ready to watch the scale go down some more!
  3. Eating right is a great prep ! Not only will you lose some weight you will get you body nutritionally sound. Start checking out Protein shakes and including one a day in your diet. I used mine as a Breakfast replacement. Bariatric Advantage sells a pre surgery Vitamin which would be great to help your body and get in the habit of taking Vitamins. Find an exercise you like and start adding that to your routine. All the changes added at your pace will help you when you have the surgery so you are not having to make big changes all at once.
  4. I started my journey at 271 pounds, I considered the lap band many years. Then this last year my daughter had bypass and I began to look into it and then came across this forum. After reading here and in other places I had absolutely no doubt this surgery was the one for me. I did not like the slow weight loss, less weight loss and host of complications that come with the lap band and I just felt bypass has the ability for regain and in the long run causes more illness with the nutrient deficiencies. I am now about 3 months post op and I can tell you it is the best thing I have ever done! I am down 76 pounds and I am feeling so much better and off all my meds. I too had been overweight all my life, 47 years worth. I had experienced all the things with kids and amusements parks ect. I was not living! So many many things I have not done because of my weight in life! I will never again go on vacation and NOT truly vacation. I will go swimming, diving, lay on the pool deck on the cruise without feeling self conscious, if I want to zip line I will without worrying about what others see from the ground, I may go para sailing behind a boat and no longer worry about the fat person being pointed at. Simply I will LIVE! You are doing the best thing ever for yourself. I do have one regret though,,,, I regret that I did not have the ability to have this done 20 years ago!
  5. I like the berry flavor, no iron taste and no stomach upset.
  6. I have been averaging about 20 grams of fat per day.
  7. I take the big fish oil caplets whole. I just make sure to take them one at time with about an hour in between as when I put it in water to see what happens the gelitan skin became quite large.
  8. I would ask to switch. They sent me home on lanzoprazole and I asked to switch to Nexium. Nexium settles down that rumbling and the confusing hunger feeling is gone too. I do think time helped too, I do still get a lot of noises and burps when I eat.
  9. So I have been in the stall from hell. I started birth contol pill about 3 weeks ago I put on 4 pound without changing my diet one bit. So I stopped taking the pill at week 2 as I was just bloating and got headaches the whole time. So I have been off the pill for 8 days now and my weight has not budged. I read to up my calories to trick my body so I started keeping track on myfatscecret.com and found if I was lucky I was getting about 500 calories a day. I started looking for healty ways so add some more calories, so far that has been adding a protein shake in my day and adding an afternoon snack of cheese and lunch meat. I have to admit It is a lot of work to get in the amount of food that I do, the snacks are really really hard to fit in. I am just plain full. One would think on so little calories I would be dropping the weight right and left. So I need some tip on breaking the stall and ways to get in healthy snacks.
  10. I was at the Dollar Tree last night and they had Hazelnut syrup. It has zero everything! It is made from Surcose(sp?) so I know it will have to be in small amounts, beside greek yogurt do you have any ideas of what else to make with it?
  11. Best of luck! Happy Sleeve Day!
  12. Reasons I chose Sleeve over bypass: Less risks and complications Able to take Nsaids Loss of hunger ( I now have control over what goes in my mouth) No Vitamin deficiencies No DUMPING syndrome Less chance of regain. (some 50 percent of bypass regain all of their weight and then some) Sleeve is effective for the rest of my life, Rny only for 2 years Sure I could eat the wrong things with the sleeve, I choose not to, but even if I ate the wrong thing, let me tell ya there is just no room for much food at all and believe it or not even after only about 3 or 4 bites of a meal I am TOTALLY satisfied as if I just had a huge meal. I really don't know how anyone could eat too much with the sleeve as that one bite too much causes instant discomfort and then the food has to go!
  13. Could be some irritation in the lining of the esophagus or top of stomach. Do you take PPI's like Nexium? I had this feeling right when I started eating more solid foods and again last night. I took some gasx in the strip form and it worked wonders getting rid of that feeling.
  14. Yes, Gasx strips are my new best friend! Occasionally at 8 weeks out I still need them.
  15. Heres to an OPEN bed and a smooth surgery!:wink0:
  16. If you are having normal movements just spaced out I would recommend Bennifiber. However if you are having trouble going when you go then add Miralx daily ASAP. Constipation can be horrible on the high protein diet.
  17. Congrats and best of luck! Sorry your family is not overly supportive, but you will find lots of support here!
  18. ::thumbs_up::::amen::cheer2::::cheer2::clap2::::clap2::
  19. I take my vitamins religiously. At first I fought with myself, but when I thought about why I had this surgery,, to get healthy. I want to be healthy, not sick in some other way as a result of trying to get healthy. On the plus side, I have managed NOT to get the awful flu and cold going around all around me and I attribute that to the vitamins.
  20. I am so frustrated I could scream. I am 9 weeks out, about 2 weeks ago I started taking the pill for pcos and my weight shot up 4 pounds in two days and stayed. I quit taking the pill a week later and my weight has not budged a bit. I am not cheating, I keep my carbs under 30 grms a day. I added my calories up and I was averaging 550 to 600 hundred a day. So I tried upping my calories the last 2 days. I managed to get an extra 100 in each day and for all that work I gain another pound! I exercise 30 minutes each morning. (step) What the heck is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Istn't that great! Every so often I look at my legs and wonder whose they are, or my wrists and fingers! I don't think the head will ever catch up and remember.
  22. Ok I have to admit I have not been adding up my calories so I just went and did it, Today I had 550 calories and I would say that pretty much represents my days. For Breakfast Protein shake: 110 Snack greek yogurt with berries 145 lunch 3 turkey meat balls and some green Beans 150 A bite of a bagel (not typical) 35 calories dinner 2 Asian spring rolls (trader joes) 100 calories Each meal I could not get any more food in, so now I am am making myself have some apple with almond butter. How do I get more calories in if I am full??? I frustrated because I am in a stall and I am sure it is from starvation mode. I excerise 30 minutes in the morning doing step aerobics on the Wii.
  23. Awww Kevin, you are a sweetheart!

  25. This has been such a huge problem for me since I have IBS and always had the exact opposite problem for the last 20 years. My doc said Collace every day to no avail. So tonight I went and got Miralx and Bennifber and took both! If things don't get going..............................
