    Just So Proud

Hello all, I just need a spot to share my happiness since I don’t talk a lot about wls with many of people (it’s not a secret, I just haven’t made it a central point of my personality!) I’m about 3 months (3 months 1 week) post op for sleeve, about to go in for my 3 month checkup, and I’ve officially lost 60 pounds, which is also half way to my goal 🥰 It was tough getting started in the beginning, and I struggled to know how to eat had how much to eat properly. I’ve even had some setbacks gaining a pound or 2 here or there. But I set this goal for myself and I met it - I’m so happy. I am forever grateful for this journey, this opportunity, and this community along the way! Good luck to everyone and enjoy your day!

    APPROVED!! Travel question

I travel a lot for work and also for pleasure. I was told no lifting a suitcase for 4 weeks, so I've told my boss I can't travel for four weeks. I haven't had surgery yet, so I can't tell you if four weeks will be enough time. Do you have to take a "heavy" suitcase? Can you pack light? I always do carry on for work.

    APPROVED!! Travel question

Please discuss with your doctor. I had a similar situation. He was more concerned about flying too close to the surgery due to possible blood clots. It does seem that 6 weeks would be enough time....but ask the professionals.

There's a WLS YouTuber (My Level 10 Life) who swears by Better Help (she's actually paid to promote them, but she swears that she gets asked to promote a lot of things and only promotes things she really believes in), but I'm skeptical of it and I'm almost certain my insurance wouldn't cover any of that. I can try asking my surgery center for a recommendation. I didn't ask them because I wanted to get someone in-network for my insurance, but at this point, I think I'd rather pay out of pocket for something that actually helps. I have a high deductible that I haven't met yet, so I'm paying out of pocket right now, anyway. Maybe I could ask the therapist who did my pre-surgery eval for a recommendation. I've actually thought about going to him because I liked him and I could tell he knows a lot about WLS, but it seems weird (and maybe a conflict of interest) to see the person who did my eval. I agree about not liking homework! That's another thing that annoyed me about the first one -- he was big on homework, and it was all really generic, nothing that he came up with specifically to help me. I had told him that my biggest struggle was that I felt like my surgery and weight loss is taking over my life and I have no time or energy left for anything else, and then he comes up with some busy work for me to do.

    When will the stall end??

My first stall was around 2/3 weeks out and it lasted like 12 days. Then I started to lose again. I feel like I've been in another stall and have been for the past week+ as I've not lost anything additional in that time. But based on info here and what my dietician and surgeons office have said, I'm doing everything right and I need to stay on plan cause I will start losing again. This is normal and happens to most everyone. You're probably no different. Great news about the meds. That is ultimately my goal too, to be taken off of it all. At my two week checkup I was cut back on my BP meds too and taken completely off the one. Now we'll see in Sept. if they will be reduced again along with my Metformin.

    Hair Loss & Highlights??

Hi everyone! I'm 4 months post VSG and wanting to get my hair highlighted but am currently in the dreaded hair loss phase. Does anyone know/ have experience getting their hair highlighted while in this phase? Will it make my hair fall out faster or do more damage than usual? I know everyone is different but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with this!! Thank you!

I was on Depo about 20 years before I had surgery, and I gained weight like crazy on that! I finally got off it a few months later since I was scared my weight would keep going up. It may be different after you have surgery, though. I was post-menopausal when I had my bypass, so of course no need for birth control. Hopefully someone will be able to answer this for you...

    Hair Loss & Highlights??

I am currently losing hair. Probably not noticeable by anyone else, but it is to me. I had new low lights put in 2 weeks ago with no problems. The added darkness seems to cover a bit of the pink scalp that I notice.
