18 lbs in two weeks is a phenomenal rate of loss. Most of us lose 15-25 lbs in the entire first month. You are going to end up on the higher end of that range, if not over. You may be basing your expectations on what you see on shows like "My 600 lb Life". Yes, those people do drop a ton of weight the first month or two, but don't forget, they are starting out at 600+ lbs. For those of us more "normal" obese people, that much of a weight loss isn't at all common.. You will undoubtedly see a few of us who drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are outliers. Your weight loss is right on target - in fact, it's above average. P.S. I *only* lost 16 lbs the first month (and that's in a month - not two weeks), and I lost over 200 lbs. Your commitment to your program is what makes the difference - not your rate of weight loss. But again, yours is absolutely fine.

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day

Thank you to everyone that responded... I’m doing a lot better than I thought I would.... Surgery was quick and easy... no major pain just soreness at the incisions and surprisingly I’m getting my fluids in, although I do have to constantly remind myself to drink water, etc. Hoping I advance in diet when I see her for my 1 week post-op check up! Thank you all for the well wishes

    Pre op diet-lost 2lbs?

My PA actually mentioned this to me. "Most people will lose ten pounds plus or minus, but occasionally, you won't lose at all on the pre-surg diet. It doesn't mean you're broken. Don't panic if you don't lose." My PA is severely type one diabetic, and she, herself, didn't lose anything on the pre-surg diet. I had the good luck to lose a few pounds on it....but I know there are people who really don't, or who only lose a very minimal amount. It's ok. You're unusual, but not unheard of:)

    ESG at Hopkins

Zaa, agree with Creekimp13, Johns Hopkins is a world class medical facility so I would have no concerns about the hospital performing this procedure. It's an endoscope, relatively minimally invasive, so there's no incision to heal or be concerned with. What is more important IMHO is the doctor who will be performing this procedure on you. Do you know who this would be? Are you familiar with their experience with ESG or Vertical Sleeve Gastronomy? Typical questions are how many procedures they have done? What is the rate and type of complications that their patients have experienced? Feel free to ask questions we would be glad to help. Thx Tex
