Looks like March 2 for my sleeve!!!!

Ok people.....s@$% just got real!!!! My dietitian called me earlier n the week nd told me to start my 2week preop liquid diet no later than 2/22/17. I asked her about a date for surgery, she said she wasn't told of a date, just to have me start the diet. Me being a good patient-for once-said ok and started the diet. Well.....I got the best call today-my surgeon's office called me this morning to move up my follow up appointment from my 2nd EGD (done last week) to this Friday 2/24/17. When I asked why was the appointment being moved and why I was told to start the diet without a date, SHE SAID THE DOCTOR IS ANTICIPATING DOING MY SURGERY NEXT THURSDAY, 3/2/17!!!!! OMG, I'm so estatic!

    Just venting

How's everyone doing? I'm a post op gastric bypass patient. Had surgery on the 13th, discharged on the 15th. Returned to the ER on the 17th for my mother. I've been a week post op and it's been nothing but back and forth to the hospital. To make matters worse, I live 30 miles away from the hospital. That is the closest hospital and 30 miles is only one way. Two nights ago my mother started suffering anxiety attacks at night and her oxygen goes dangerously low. She's on a bipap as now and even then has issues with her oxygen going down. Anyway tonight is my turn to spend the night with her, she's already had one attack tonight and someone not being with her makes her anxious. To make matters worse, she was moved from a private room to an A/B room, and because her roomie is a woman I can't fall asleep in the room. I can only come and go from lobby to her room. Yay! Hope someone is up to keep me company lol. Sorry for the rant guys, just needed to let it out.

    Post op diet

Chewing is part of the digestive process. It releases chemical in your stomach that help digest food. So it is quite natural to feel a need to chew. After my RNY gastric bypass, my regiment was 4 weeks of full liquid, followed by 4 weeks of puree foods, and then only in week 9 was I allowed to transition to solids. Transitioning to solids can be quite difficult. So there is no need to push it. I found that softer foods (such as chili and soups) went down much easier than solid foods such as steak. So therefore I relied heavily on soft foods. I have included some recipes at the end in the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

    Freaking out!

I got pregnant 5 months out and all was PERFECT! I'm sure my pregnancy was much healthier than it would have been had I not had surgery. I worked in more snacks to boost my calories (all very healthy and some ice cream to keep my sanity) and all went well. Delivered just days before my due day all natural at a birthing center and got up and walked out with my baby girl 3 hours after I had her. I gained 17lbs throughout and was back to ore pregnancy weight two days later. I continued to lose after with breastfeeding. (Keep those healthy calories up if you're planning to do so. It takes up A LOT of calories!) You'll be just fine!!! Congrats to you!!!!

Update! All is well. My situation is unique to me and I've gotten some advice re: my pre-op diet. I need to kick up the working out a notch and increase my calories a touch.
