    Its Only Been A Week?!

For some reason, I feel like I have banded for longer than a week. Is it because I'm feeling like myself again and I just have sterri strips on my incisions to actually show myself that yes, I did have surgery just a week ago? I'm tolerating food pretty well. Like today, I had 1/2 cup scrambled eggs. For lunch I had a couple bites of cottage cheese and chicken noodle soup(minus the chicken and the noodles) and for dinner 1/2 cup tuna and 3 saltine crackers. That kept me satisfied quite well so I'm not sure if I'm feeling true restriction or is my stomach still inflamed from surgery. Whatever the reason.....I'll take it. My doctor pretty much said to take things slow, chew, chew, chew, and introduce more foods slowly.I have to keep reminding myself that it's only been a week. I need to take things slow so I don't damage anything that I've been waiting a year and half for. I've got the rest of my life with my new tool of awesomeness, so why rush?

One thing most of us fail to realize when we get the band, is that if we're going to be successful with our weight loss, we have to have a completely different mind set. Food can no longer be the center of our universe. I don't know what to replace it (food) with, I'm remodeling our kitchen. It's kept me busy for the past three months and I've lost about 60 lbs. I'll have to have another project when I'm finished, but it can't be food. I went to a Center of Excellence for my surgery and it's become the standard of 'how things should be done' in my mind. When I see people complain about poor care or post op instruction, I can't help thinking that maybe more time should be spent on patient education and screening and less time on how large the bank account is getting. I probably shouldn't get started on how poor I think the quality of care is getting. It does bother me though, when folks come here asking the very most basic questions about their diet and aftercare, not having been given even the most basic post op instructions. Maybe less time is needed on profit and loss and more time on patients well being. Excuse my rant.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Hi Everyone- It has been on my mind lately to start a new post as a positive, motivational, and inspiring thread. I have noticed several threads lately where those considering surgery are asking if it is 'possible' to lose 100 pounds with the band. My answer to that is...Yes, it definitely is. Many say it is not realistic. But I have watched the amazing progress of LBT members on the board, and believe it is not only realistic, it is happening to many of our LBT members all around us. And for those that aren't quite there yet, many members are extremely close. As time goes by with lapband increasing in popularity and the number of LBT members growing everyday, I believe the list is only going to increase by leaps and bounds. Any and all weight loss is a huge accomplishment for us all. While I realize that many members don't need to lose 100 pounds or more, many do. And for those who do, it offers not only motivation to see that other bandsters have done it...but most importantly it offers the hope that it can be done with the band! This will be a running thread to offer positive motivation, inspiration, hope, and encouragement. Please PM me or post here to have your name added to the growing list when you hit 100 pounds lost, or if you want your amount lost updated. Congratulations to everyone on any and all weight loss! Well, today is day 2 of my pre-op liquid diet. We have my work Christmas Luncheon today. So much of our lives center around food. Two of my Christmas gifts yesterday were food...one box of chocolates, and the other a gift card to El Chico..........and I do love Mexican food..... Haha.. I am trying to be brave and keep it all in perspective.... In the long run--what is one Christmas dinner or two???? I am anxiously awaiting surgery----come on Dec. 27th!!! Counting down......

I was just banded on the 20th so I will also be on a liquid diet Christmas. But I do have to say the liquid diet before was so much harder then after. I just wanna suggest if you have not found any Protein drinks or powders that you like yet, you might wanna start looking. The protein did wonders for helping me to stay full. The first few days on my liquid diet were really rough but by about the 3rd day I found some protein I could get down and it started helping me feel fuller. After trying many different kinds of the powders, I decided to try some from www.unjury.com and they tasted so much better then any other I had tried. I would mix a packet of chocolate carnation instant Breakfast with a scoop of the chocolate unjury protein and it was like having a glass of extra chocolaty milk lol but I would suggest also buying a Blender Bottle. it helps mix the Protein powder with your liquid without clumps. Hope this helps!! Good luck with your liquid diet and Surgery

I have 6 incisions, all different sizes. I was banded on 12/13 and none of the strips have come off yet. They sure do itch though!

I say if you have sick time take your whole two weeks, I did, I had a hernia repaired, and truthfully I was not ready to go back before two weeks. I am blessed to have a good job, and sick time, so I was able to concentrate on healing.

You hit it right on the nose and that's what I intended to do once I'm banded. I want to be successful and gonna do what my dr tells me too to be successful. If you have will power all is possible and I'm determined to lose this weight, so I can be healthier and happier. I'm doing this for me, I remember when I was smaller how happy and full of life I was, now with this weight it seems like everything has slowed down a bit. I recently started weight training and exercising preparing myself for banding. My goal is to try to lose 12 lbs this month, even it I don't lose it all I can say I gave it my best. Thanks for the post.
