    July 2021 Surgery People!

I’m scheduled for July 8th. Nervous and excited! So glad to have found a group of people who will be going through the same thing. Good luck to everyone! 😃

I had some trouble at first. I take a nighttime med that's a large tablet and realized if I cut it into quarters, it went down better. Thankfully the others I take are small or capsules. I was not allowed to take any vitamins until my second week post surgery and all vitamins were required to be chewable.

Why could you only take one at a time every few hours?

Call your surgeon and ask would be the best bet. I was taking pills while in the hospital after both my VSG and RNY but I know others aren’t allowed. I think it’s very surgeon dependent.

    Weight loss stall

    1) unless you're the size of someone on "My 600 lb Life", your weight loss so far is very normal. Most of us lose 15-25 lbs in the first month after surgery. Yes - you will find people who lose more or less than that, but they're the exception. You're in that range, so you're perfectly normal! 2) you're in the infamous "three-week stall". Almost all of us go through that. It's not ALWAYS the third week, but it is for most (hence the name) - but it can really happen any time within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. Just stick to your program and stay off the scale if you need to. It'll last 1-3 weeks, and then you'll be on your way again. If you want to read more about it, do a search on this site for the three week stall. You will find about 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding...). It literally does happen to almost everyone. No changes necessary - just stick to your program and wait it out. It WILL break. oh - just re-read your post. Thirty grams of protein is too low. Most surgeons recommend at least 60. So THAT is a change you should make. Otherwise, you're good. Just hang tight!

    No more boobs

I would bet you’re smaller than a 36 band size! I think I remember you mentioning plastic surgery? I had mine in January. My poor boobs were just empty sacks. Now post PS I’m a 32F. They’re awesome :) I can go braless if I like and they stay put.

    Purée and stall?

Read this and read it twice or three times, put it to memory the scale will make you crazy. you will fluctuate. Period. your body retails fluid, your body retains waste, it takes time. It took time to put on and it will take time to take off. Try not to weigh yourself daily, I know that is a super hard thing to do. Your going to go up and down, and you will all out stall. It happens to all of us. All you can do is stay your course and know that as long as the trend is downward your making good progress A good poop and pee can be the difference of a pound or pound and a half, the clothes you wear, how wet your hair is, the little things can make you crazy but the bottom line is if you weigh yourself weekly or biweekly you will see bigger changes in the numbers and the ounces won’t make you nuts!
