  1. I am an ex-smoker. I quit because of the surgery. I forgot I had to go for the monthly urine test and stopped smoking about 7 days beforehand. It came back negative. I am not saying you can smoke you to then, but if you smoke and have to go for them, please stop a week before and you’ll be ok. I haven’t had a cigarette since the end of January. Do I miss it? Absolutely! Will I start again? I hope not.
  2. I had band done 8 years ago and lost 50 pounds. Slowly went back up to starting weight of 332. Had bypass done on May 19. Lost 10 pounds during liquid pre-op and another 14 pounds since bypass. I had no complications from surgery, no pain after and feel great! I am supposed to be on puréed food until Wednesday, but the site of puréed food makes me gag. I’ve been eating mushy turkey and chicken breast and have handled it well. I had reflux from the band and major swallowing problems but that seemed to have disappeared. I do take omeprezole and something so I don’t get gallstones along with multivitamins. Keep us posted on what you decide.
  3. I’ve never heard of them. I’ll have to find them. Thanks for the info!

  6. My doctor told me no cream of wheat, no oatmeal, no fruit unless it’s berries. Goes to show you how different every doctor is. Even the doctors in my group of surgeons have different plans for their patients
  7. Everyone is different. I am 13 days post op and down 14 pounds. A loss is a loss - don’t compare yourself to anyone. This is your journey. And, who knows, they could be lieing to make themselves look good! ?

  12. Right now I’m a 44F! I can’t wait to get rid of some of this bill and be able to buy cute, lacy bras

  14. I started puréed food yesterday but was afraid to eat so I had a few tablespoons of Oikos Triple 0 Greek yogurt. It tasted like Heaven! Today for lunch I had a few tablespoons of Starkist chicken creations. I had the lemon pepper which was very good, though I though the lemon was a bit overpowering. Maybe it’s my tastebuds since that’s the first real piece of food I’ve had in over 3 weeks. Keep drinking your protein. I’m down 13 pounds since surgery, 18 since I started my liquid pre-op

  16. Question for ya! How are you eating stew at 2 weeks post op? I’ll still be doing puréed food then

  21. So did I! Had my first post-op nurse visit today. Down almost 10 pounds. Was told I can start puréed food Saturday. Start with yogurt and work my way up to chicken. At least it’s a start. How are you feeling?
  22. We had the same surgery date. Glad you’re doing well! I ended up constipated. Not going to get into details, but it was painful and disgusting. I’m still on full liquids until Saturday when I start 2 weeks of puréed food. Keep us posted on how you’re doing!

  28. Maybe I’m expecting too much too soon. Had my bypass surgery on 5/19. Weight myself this morning, 5/22 and only lost 0.8 pounds. Is this normal? Also, has anyone’s eyes gone “batty”? It’s like I can really focus on what I’m reading. I told my nurse at discharge but she didn’t seem concerned. Any help/comments/etc. is appreciated.
  29. I also had mine on the 19th. How are you feeling? I also got my hernia repair which I’m happy about. I came home this morning. Just a little discomfort on the left side. I was able to shower and took a walk this afternoon.
