Surgery... time... hospital stay... pain after surgery... recovery time... cravings... taste bud changes... prolbems... success stories... anything... My surgeon told me to gather as much information and join support groups... any other other sites.... chat rooms.... ect... Thank you in advance Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Newbie

I just got approved yesterday! My surgery is scheduled for Nov 3 but I am on a waiting list for an October date if one opens up. I am very excited. I hope your approval comes through soon. I am a bundle of nerves but more than anything, I can't wait for this new tool to help me shed the weight that has limited me for so many years. I hope we can all support each other through this journey. I have around 150 lbs to lose. Cheering for you! -M

although you may not lose any (not everyone does), you're still pretty early out. I didn't start losing hair until I was about five months out.

Just the thought of it makes me barf

I have found the protein waters to be easier to get down. I like the Feel Good ones, especially the tasteless one. It genuinely is tasteless, I've even had it in coffee.

    Anyone for August 2020

Happy belated birthday! I returned to work on Monday, so I haven’t had as much time on the boards as usual. Still adjusting to my schedule, but so far so good. I’m able to work from home, but still demanding and long hours, but finding my grove. i hit the infamous week three stall, but otherwise doing good with purées, after a rough first two days with transition. Look forward to advancing to soft foods.

I could never drink any of the protein drinks period. I tried them all pre op but knew that my gut would not be happy. I have never been able to drink /eat all the additives. Deathly ill from it all. I made very very strong chicken soup with lots of vegetables in it and strained for the first few weeks of liquids. Then added in blender to smooth cooked chicken, and veggies. Kefir was also a go to. Now you could get bone broth. I did my own as I find prepared soups to be too full of sodium for me.

I didn't have a binder with RNY. I did with plastic surgery, but that obviously wasn't laproscopic - I had HUGE incisions with that. things I used a lot: blender, kitchen scale, ramekins (although your measuring cups will work for this. I used my ramekins so I'd know how much I was eating. You can get them in different sizes like 4 oz, 8 oz, etc - but your measuring cups will work for this, too). A baby spoon (I still use one at five years out because I love it!). I also bought individual packets of various protein powders so I wouldn't waste money on huge tubs of powder that I ended up hating. Before surgery, I liked the chocolate and vanilla ones, but after surgery, I found those too sweet (at least for the first few weeks or months). I preferred the fruity ones after surgery - and/or savory ones, like chicken soup-flavored. So get a variety of flavors...
