    Cocktails & Wine

My dr recommended 3 months but basically said I could do what I wanted after 6 weeks. I waited three months and half a glass of wine and couldn’t drink anymore. It felt really weird going down and I didn’t care for the sensation. I’m 6 months out now and. Can tolerate wine (2 glass limit). I’ve tried some vodka drinks but they are hard because all the mixers I like are either carbonated or have too much sugar. One dirty martini gets me fairly buzzed but I’ve noticed that it goes away fairly quickly. It’s pretty weird. I have the sleeve, not bypass. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Cocktails & Wine

I'm 4.5 months out and am going to have my first drink tonight while watching the Eurovision Song Contest (most Americans don't have a clue what that is, but it's a big deal for us back home, LOL). I'm going to be in Ireland in 8 weeks (I go home for the summer every year) and my brother and I like to go out for a drink, so I'm looking to see what my reaction is to alcohol now and what my tolerance is. I have a friend who had the sleeve 2 years ago. She gets buzzed very quickly, and then sobers up equally quickly (like in 15 mins). It's pretty funny to watch. I'll report back tomorrow, LOL.

Absolutely...stalls & patience. However, I look at stalls now as a way for my body to catch up to the weight loss~ I find it’s important to think about what our bodies are going through~ I already have some excess skin, however, I find that it’s not quite as bad after a stall. (Or maybe that’s just hope lol) Try not to focus on the scale, do NOT weigh yourself everyday, or several times a day! Stay focused on your path and new lifestyle, and improvements- keep moving forward! Don’t forget to do your measurements, as well! Often, the scale won’t be moving, however, inches will!!! (Woot woot!!!) My daughter keeps showing me pictures from last year, or sometime in the past to help me keep things in perspective....because I KNOW how much I have lost, etc., however, I still see myself as before- it’s difficult to let reality set in, I guess! I think we all agree that this place helps as well..no matter what you’re going through, whether it’s tailbone pain rubbing on your butt skin, the reactions of others, etc...you are NOT alone! Most of all...enjoy the process and the new you!!! ~xo~ Oh, and being able to sit at a booth or normal sized chair with arms on it without worrying about what I like to call “suck & tuck”, PRICELESS!!! Or, worry about if the chair will cling to you as you get up, making the dreaded scraping noise, while everyone turns to look at you. Keep going...and LIVE!!!

My doctor hasn't said specifically, only that it'll cause you to get drunk faster and to be careful. I don't drink alcohol so it's not an issue for me.

is it possible to not lose??

I guess it’s kind of nice to see that I am on track with everyone psychologically :) I can’t wait until I am at least 6 months out.

    ANXIETY

Sure it's normal. It's a big deal. It's a major surgery and it's going to have a big impact on both your immediate future and the rest of your life. Take a deep breath . . . you've got this!

    Onederland, 5 yrs ago. Now...

My two cents on what to expect five years out…for whatever its worth. I feel real and head hunger. I have since I was six months out, I had to find ways to satisfy hunger. Eating Added carbs and sugar will cause hunger and make you crave them more. Detox off them Ditch soft proteins, shakes and bars. Years out they will never keep you feeling full. Eat dense protein with the other foods on your plan. Eat as much veggies as you want until full. It will help keep your calories in range. Keep healthy sweet and salty items on hand for cravings It’s very common feel less sleeve restriction as you progress out from surgery. It’s not full size but you can hold more food volume. Just because I can eat more food does not mean I have to eat over my weight loss/maintain calories and macros and gain weight. I log my food in myfitnesspal.

    New discovery - ribs!

It seems like the fat melts from the top down. My poor old 63 year old face looks about 80 to me - so many wrinkles and a turkey skin neck. I have always had genetically heavy upper eye lids, but now they are falling into my eyes. (If I have plastics, the upper eyelids will be the first thing to get done.) Going south with anatomy, the boobs are half their size and twice as long. Arms are getting pretty baggy. Belly and inner thighs pretty wobbly. BUT...….. the ribs look great! I've gone from a 24 pants to a 16. 2X top to a med-lg. Bra from 42DD to 38C. Underwear from 13 to 8. Most of my weight is still in the lower half. So funny how it is so different for everyone, but my aging skin is not so funny. No more collagen, I guess, and the elasticity is just not there anymore. But all these wrinkles are just my badges from the best decision I have every made for myself. It's just a matter of perspective. I'd rather look older and wrinkly and have my life back, than be obese with smooth skin and hardly able to move.
