When you change your mind about major surgery at the last minute: 1. You are depriving other people of that surgery spot 2. You are creating endless paperwork for both your surgeon's office and your insurance. 3. You are behaving in the most self absorbed way imaginable and inconveniencing others. 4. None of your excuses for not following through hold water. You don't seem to care about how this effects anyone but you. Your behavior is unacceptable. I don't blame your surgeon at all for giving you a final warning.

    VSG on 4/16/18: My journey

I had my gastric bypass on 4/16 as well. My roughest obstacle has been the muscle stitch and trying to get out of bed or a deep chair. Coughing was agony! But today, 4/21 is much much better. I walked and walked and walked and I think that it helped me progress. I did not take any prescribed pain medication either. I am a recovering alcoholic (3yrs[emoji5]) and in rehab they caution against any addictive substances so I declined. I did take adult liquid Tylenol when I got home Wednesday night and Thursday through the day. Yesterday I walked through the pain and feel so great today I have not had any issues with getting liquids down, it just takes forever[emoji13]. I have had lots of (TMI ALERT) watery dark bowel movements. The Dr. office said to call if they look like tar. They don’t so I’m not worried about it. One last comment, I have experienced a huge change in my energy. I was always so tired every morning before I had surgery, and was expecting to be very tired while recovering. The opposite is true. I find that I have lots of energy! This is good and bad....... we are getting possession of another home we purchased tomorrow and there are sooooo many things that need to be done, and I cannot do any of it. I want to, and feel like I can, but I know I am asking for a surgery if I start lifting or moving. We had our procedures done on the same day and I will look for your posts to see how you are coming along and cheer on your successes. Good luck! My weight day before surgery was 245. I am 5’7. I am not going to weigh myself until Monday. 1 week out. I know I could get crazy watching the scale and a don’t want to get fixated on numbers.

    Good and Bad

Honestly, I never even thought about the "D" word (which I'm assuming is Death and not Diet). These procedures are so routine now that that isn't even a real risk. I think for VSG it's like 1 in 2500, and like 1 in 400 for any kind of serious complication. That said my general rule post surgery is get your ass out of the Hospital as soon as you can, you will feel much better and you eliminate the risk of hospital infection (which is a much bigger risk IMO) So where are you in the process so far?

The stress of taking control of my life.

@okayestmom we all need the rant forum at times. I just gently read the tiot act to a young poster on another thread. Among my other benefits/detriments I am a grandma and I hate to stand by and watch a younger person royally screw up their life without trying to intercede. Would I have, listened at posters age? Yes I would have, maybe a tad naive, maybe too strictly, raised, but I did tend to listen to my elders because that was the way I was taught. Don't feel guilty about spending the money. You are worthy to make this step and I think you should make this step. If not today then when, if not now, do not take the risk of never. Did that, never will again for you see, today is also my day to step forward and shine in my own life. Keep me updated, I want to know how things go👵😛

here's my take on it you are really young to be getting this surgery. there is a lot to contend with at your age. not drinking be a big one. in my program it is one full year. wow at 21 i sure as heck would not have wanted to give that up. also going out to get crap food with my friends while drinking was a major thing be cause we were all broke in college and a McDonald double cheese burger costs less than a pan era cease er salad with grilled chicken. so yeah i get it. but man if i would have gotten my crap together i would have done this years sooner spent way less time as heavy as i am my knees would not be a wreck my back would not be a wreck my hips. but i agree right now you need therapy. i did intense therapy for two years before surgery was even an option. because i needed healing alot of my food issues were routed in trauma of my past. and i used my weight as a shield to keep people from hurting me but not every one does that but tons of young people do so please get therapy revisit this in a few years
