I've posted this before. It's based on a combined document that was created in the forums awhile back that I found. I don't think I'll bring everything on this list, but it gives me a good starting place. <<make sure you're logged in so you can open the attachment>> Hospital Stay Checklist.pdf

I am so HAPPPPY you guys

Hey guy I am soooo HAAAAPPPYY. My neighbors probably don't like me right now because there is a lot of hooting and hollering going on in my house. My 3 yr old is looking at me mad crazy because I was APPPPROVED for my VSG surgery so excited. I have been stalking the insurance company everyday for about 10 business days and final an approval.

    My mom is not well

My mother had the sleeve surgery done in may of 2017. It is now October of 2017, she has lost over 100 lbs, but she hasn’t eaten anything at all in over 4 weeks. Her fluid intake is minuscule. I’ve had her in ER over 20 times to get hydrated. The surgeon has done all tests and everything has came back normal. She just recently had kidney stone as result of chronic dehydration, they removed it successfully. She has horrible nausea and vomiting. She can’t keep anything down at all, none of the Zofran, phenegran, or any other nausea medicine works. She is bi-polar and was put in a mental treatment facility for 3 weeks because she can’t cope with it all. She came out even worse I feel. She has atrophy so bad in her muscles that she can’t hardly walk. I’m scared and have no idea what to do. I’m thinking of going to Colorado and buying her some kind of marijuana pills, to maybe soothe her nausea and help create some appetite. I know it’s illegal in my home state but I’m to the point that I don’t care about that. Has anyone used marijuana to help this?? I know that nausea and vomiting are commonplace after the surgery but 6 months later and still getting worse! She’s says to me that she would’ve rather died obese than live through this.

    3 weeks post op

Right there with you. Surgery was 9/27. I'm getting the liquid protein, not doing much solid . Hard getting in all the water. Been eating a lot of popsicles. Don't know if that counts. It's hard but just keep plowing through...eyes on the road!

    Hair loss!!

I am 2 years post op. I lost my hairline about 1-1/2" into my hair line. I didnt notice how bad it was until the summer when I pulled my hair into a pony and saw my hair line. I became anemic, iron and vitamin B deficient one year post op. My doctor monitors my blood levels now. After taking prenatal vitamins (doctor recommended, and NOT I am not pregnant) and biotin and eating more red meat, 7 months and my hair has started growing back.

    Hair loss!!

What happens is your body was shocked by the surgery. When the body is shocked, it thinks the world is ending, and it shuts down all non-essential functions. Hair growth is non-essential, so it threw the "off switch". The hair stays on your head for about 3-6 months, then will fall out. After it falls out, it takes another 6 months to start growing again. (These are all approximations). So by the time you are 12 months postop, you should start seeing it regrow. The losses, when caused just by the surgery, should not be permanent. If you are low on iron or some other nutrients, it may have trouble coming back. But you won't know that unless a blood tests shows a deficiency. Do not take extra vitamins, especially iron, because it's possible to take too much. In the meantime, you could try a shorter hair style that will allow the remaining hair to fluff up more. You can try a wig or hats, or... I wouldn't recommend Rogain.. but I don't know anything about it really. I've lost at least half my hair, and am almost 7 months postop. It's still falling out, but might have slowed down a smidge. I cut mine shorter so it fluffs up more.

I think about this a lot and you may be right about the carbs. I have enjoyed the amazing summer fruits like peaches and lots of berries and watermelon. And they’re so full of vitamins and nutrients that they’re easily justifiable but I know sweet fruits are carbs. Ugh!!! My boys are teenagers and i keep only the bare minimum of fillers they need because I can’t afford for them to eat a whole chicken each every day haha! They get hostile/ hangry when we don’t have those snacks. It’s up to me to make better choices. Thank you for this thoughtful reply!
