    Hair loss!!

What happens is your body was shocked by the surgery. When the body is shocked, it thinks the world is ending, and it shuts down all non-essential functions. Hair growth is non-essential, so it threw the "off switch". The hair stays on your head for about 3-6 months, then will fall out. After it falls out, it takes another 6 months to start growing again. (These are all approximations). So by the time you are 12 months postop, you should start seeing it regrow. The losses, when caused just by the surgery, should not be permanent. If you are low on iron or some other nutrients, it may have trouble coming back. But you won't know that unless a blood tests shows a deficiency. Do not take extra vitamins, especially iron, because it's possible to take too much. In the meantime, you could try a shorter hair style that will allow the remaining hair to fluff up more. You can try a wig or hats, or... I wouldn't recommend Rogain.. but I don't know anything about it really. I've lost at least half my hair, and am almost 7 months postop. It's still falling out, but might have slowed down a smidge. I cut mine shorter so it fluffs up more.

its now been 4.5 years since I was sleeved. my high weight was 323 lbs. my goal weight was low 180's. I did reach goal weight but over the years I realized that my desired goal weight was too low for me. now for the last 2 years ive steadily maintained a weight in the mid 190's and that appears to be where im supposed to be and im happy with that weight. today 10/1/17 I weight 195 lbs. I exercise 3-4 times a week and my choice of exercise is running. I will also be running the 2018 boston marathon and im so excited about being able to run this historic race! im running it for the jimmy v foundation for cancer research and ive committed to raising $6000 which is no easy task. if any of you have ever been affected by this terrible illness feel free to click the link after this post and make a 100% tax deductible donation to the jimmy v foundation for cancer research. every dollar donated goes to research. you will be supporting my run and a cause that affects everyone as everyone knows someone that has been affected by cancer. as far as my eating, I still have to be very mindful of what I put in my mouth. I can eat much more today than I could 2 years ago but still no where near what I could eat before having the surgery. hope everyone on their journey is doing well and feel free to ask any questions. im also attaching my before pic and a few current pics taken last week. have a great day! heres my donation link for anyone willing to support this wonderful cause: http://jimmyv.convio.net/site/TR/Endurance/General?px=1409952&pg=personal&fr_id=1370

When I got my surgery date I went on a food farewell tour. Went to all my favorite restaurants and ate my favorite foods. I felt that I probably wouldnt be going back to those restaurants or eating those foods. Six weeks post op I’m feeling good about the surgery and best of all I dont miss the restaurants or food. From what I’m reading food funerals or farewell tours aren’t unusual.

    Aetna Insurance denied & Appeal

Have u or ur daughter called Aetna customer service to speak with someone personally to find out what the reason for denial was? Or are u getting the info second hand from the doc? I would suggest calling Aetna if u havent already. I wish u and ur daughter luck whichever route u need to take.

Going off psych meds after surgery

I didn't have a choice. I have, however, under my doctors care and watch while going thru this. My pills have to be crushed. Research shows that crushing pills can sometimes be fatal (resulting in death) considering the impact crushing has on the molecular structure the release of the drug into the system, how the content of the medication attaches to certain receptor sites, and/or other internal interaction to the crushes pills new means of absorption. Not to mention, the stomachs new way of absorbing ANYTHING post op, is now different which adds a new risk. In my case, if I have to choose, I'd rather not chance the latter. Hence, my doctor and I have elected to cease the med for the 6 weeks while my entire body is healing and adjusting to this new way of life and living. Medication can be reintroduced slowly.
