    Daily Medications

@RSM all my docs had a list of my medicines pre-op i take a lot of pills AM then a lot more PM a couple of meds are "horse pills" absorption problems aren't applicable to the sleeve. (covering my assss to say usually not) but there shouldn't be a problem. malabsorption (msp) is usually referred to in gastric bypass surgery. good luck kathy

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, I was on full liquids for the first 4 weeks, pureed foods for the next four weeks and then only after week 9 was I transitioned to solid food. Your stomach needs time to heal. The transition to solids can be rough. There is no need to rush it.

    Surgery August 16th

I 'm exactly the same ..9 days out... I never had a problem from day one.... I can take about 12 oz. of fluid... I was worried that was too much... I still am worried ....I'm just felt like I should be barely choking it down... but I don't have any problems at all.

4ounces by weight or volume ?

Which one do you do ? Which one is right? Puree phase I did 4 ounce to fit in a 4 ounce container. Now I'm 6 week out. 4 ounces of Solis food won't fit in a 4 once container. ( it might if I cut it up) I want to do this right... I bought so many 4 ounce containers now I'm thinking of just buying small container's for meal prep.

    GasX strips

I took them to the hospital. I used one. Walking worked better than anything. Of course, I moved at the pace of snail, but each step was still better than the strips. I simply picked them up at like Target or CVS, maybe Walmart? Good luck with your surgery!

    Hungry!

I get hunger pangs but not like presurgery. Sometimes it's just my tummy talking. Are you taking any acid reducers, doc has me on omeprazole 2x a day. Acid can cause rumblings that we mistake for hunger. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 212 GW: TBD

    Goal weight??

I set my own goal weight...my starting weight on surgery day was 218 lbs and a 41 BMI. I'm vertically challenged at only 5'1", so I'm short. My original goal weight was 110 lbs and a 20 BMI, but since I was losing so slowly, I readjusted my expectations at 3 months out. My revised goal weight was 130 pounds, which placed me at a BMI of 24.7 (upper limit of normal). I reached 130 pounds at 14 months out and decided to keep going. I entered maintenance at 118 pounds and a BMI of 22. Not only do I like how I look and feel at this weight, but it's been easy to maintain. The moral of the story: you'll need to devote additional effort if you want to get to 135 pounds, but it is possible in spite of what your surgeon says. Good luck to you.

    Getting tempted with foods

Before I had surgery, I would just gobble down my food and I was done and left the table. But after surgery, there was so little food, that I began to realize that dinner had two components: food and conversation. So after surgery, I concentrated on the conversation element. Many people experience hunger after surgery. Many call this head hunger. It should improve once you begin the solid food stage. Chewing is a natural part of digesting food. Chewing releases chemicals in your body to break down foods. Therefore after surgery many people miss the act of chewing.

I can get my fluids as long as they're not tainted with any kind of sweetener or demon whey protein lol. It's been a rough go. I can't tolerate any protein drinks. Can stomach about one cup of milk a day and a cup of some chicken or beef stock. My dietician is pretty keen on liquid protein supplements for like, ever, and that's just not going to work for me. It's going to have to come from whole foods as soon as I'm able. She's suggested as a very last resort I try a medical protein concentrate called Liquacel and I ordered some samples but I can pretty much already imagine how it's gonna go with that too. I feel your pain and I can't even reassure you that it's going to get better but I hope it does for us both!! [emoji171][emoji171]

It's what you'll put in to it. Follow all your doc orders and you should be fine. Although I didn't have wls before my 2nd pregnancy, i did have gestational diabetes and was obese, but i followed everything i had to. I gained 15lbs with medical supervision during my whole pregnancy and my baby girl was just fine and I didn't gain more than I had too. Be encouraged, you can do this and do it well and right. Remember that EVERYTHING is about the baby when you're pregnant. My doc reminded me of that several times during mine to make sure I stay on target. To compare, my first pregnancy is when I started my obesity. From a healthy weight I gained 65lbs and never took it off. My mind wasn't focused on the baby but what I wanted (and it was junk-fast food-etc). Thank God my daughter is well and healthy, BUT I wish I had better intentions and was mature enough to make everything about her when I was pregnant. So, there's a huge difference when we change our mindset from ourselves to the little precious baby growing inside. Hope this encourages you to be mindful of doing what's healthy for you and ultimately the baby. With that, you should gain a healthy pregnancy weight.
