    Baby Food

I just started researching baby food. You are so right about the price! I was in Walmart last week looking at different baby food and prices. I see that they have organic types too. What amazes me that one little jar can have 13 carbs! I was like WOW! That's a lot of carbs in a little jar. I bought Gerber sweet potato&Turkey with whole grains. The taste is bland. Its ok. Low in sodium but has 6 grams of sugar. That seems like a lot too. I will continue to try other types and brands. I know that our taste buds will change after surgery so having a variety & different brands should work. I like the two pack plastic ones.

I agree with your physician to stay away from narcotics and it is tough not to be able to take NSAIDs anymore. Has your doctor suggested Tylenol? My husband also has sarcoidosis, is your Pulmonologist a sarcoidosis specialist? My husband goes to Mount Sinai in NYC. We learned early on that someone who treats many cases of sarcoidosis gets it!! Sarcoidosis could definitely be interfering. I don't know anything about the gyno issues but if you trust your physician, listen to their advice. I really hope everything works out and you start to feel better.

Try to keep yourself busy or get out of the house when you can. Hell, some nights I just went to bed an hour early because I didn't want to be up thinking about the surgery or food. The last few days can wear you down. We've all been there but you can get through it. Just have to look forward to the future and a new healthier you. Does your plan not allow you to have protein shakes? Most everybody's seems to or is that the packets you are referring to?

    Worried and confused

I was/am the same way! I had no pain or nausea in the hospital. When I was finally allowed to drink Water I could drink as much as I wanted (though I tried not to). I've been on purees this week, which includes soft foods like canned tuna or eggs. Anything liquid (like a Protein shake) goes down with no problem, but I do admit that I am getting full with the foods. I started real foods a little early (yesterday) with some chicken breast and spinach, and while I didn't feel any restriction, I kept the portions right (3 oz. of chicken, 1 oz. of veggies). And that satisfied me completely. So far I've no problems with nausea, food aversions, painful restrictions, getting my liquids in, or constipation. If I didn't have the scars on my stomach I would seriously question whether or not I had the surgery at all! In fact, when I was day 3 post-op I had a total meltdown in the hospital when talking to one of the doctors. I felt that my surgeon hadn't cut enough of my stomach away! Seriously - everyone on my floor had some problem(s) and I had none. I felt great, I was moving around a lot...it just didn't seem right. So she showed me a picture of my excised stomach (it's pretty long) and told me not to worry about it, that I should be happy that I am one of the few that feels great after surgery. So I'm trying to remember that regardless of how I feel, I should follow the plan and the portions to help me stay on target.

    Sabotaging myself?

@@Hoping052017 if you don't change your mind...no amount of surgery will help you with the weight. My biggest struggle is sweet things and even though I'm 1.5 years out, I have the daily thought of "Oh EM Gee, I would LOVE a cupcake" but I have enough willpower to say no... even with the surgery I can eat a cupcake. It might take me ALL day to do it but I can do it. This surgery is only a tool but you must know how to use that tool to make it work. I wish you the best of luck!!!

    Ever so slowly backsliding...

Thanks so much everyone for all the kind words and encouragement! Much better day today. Need to steer clear of sweets for a while and I did so successfully today. On another note, my weight dropped again.... Hmmm... trying not to use that as an "excuse" to eat poorly though. I think that is where I am getting hung up (partially) and allowing that thought to lead me to believe I can eat whatever I want because "look I am not gaining!" The unhealthy eating will catch up with me eventually though, so just gotta keep to a meal plan/calories for now and see how it goes before I decide to increase my calories again. Really appreciate all of you more than I can express!!
