On tuesday I had my 1st visit to the surgeon since my lapband surgery on 1/28/12 all looked good down 20 lbs still dealing with a little hunger another week of liquids. Im trying to get in lots of fluids though at times its a bit hard. He told me my first fill will be on March 13th nervous and excited at the same time. I am curious to see how I feel and what I am able to eat after I am finished with my liquids. My doctor said I can go to eating fool just to chew it very well. It seems so long ago I had anything of substance. lol. I hope to be able to tolerate alot of the foods I have eaten in the past (just much smaller portions) we shall see. Will keep you all posted. One more thing since banded I look at each day as a special day, a happy day and finally putting myself first. I am a work in progress and I know all of this will be SO WORTH IT . Enjoy your day.

    What Are You Eating?

I won't be banded till the 20th, but I have been looking at protien items. I think that the light Baby Bell Cheese would be an excellent snack. I can't remember exactly the calorie and protien count off hand, but its on my shopping list, so must not bee too bad!

    Where Is My Port!!!

I had SILS, so mine is a couple of inches below my belly button. Don't worry, pretty soon you'll miss not being able to feel it (but not the weight!).

Thanks for the replies girls. Yes I have alot of positive people around me and that's who I will concentrate on. Even speaking to my sister and she said, that none of the family were worried about me as they know I'm a person that will do what I say but that will be it. And I am like that, my so called friends also know this. I will get down to my goal weight but that will be it, I have no desire to be skinny, just healthy. I will see my 'friend' tonight as we do Pilates together, I was dreading it but this morning I'm like' what are you worried about , you've done and said nothing wrong'. Either way they'll both never hear about my weight lose again! Thanks so much for all the replies, I pray it doesn't happen to you. Xxxx

    Friend Beening Very Negative

I lost a so called "friend" not long after I was banded. She decided to end our friendship, bottom line she was jealous of me. I had gotten married 9 months prior to my surgery and then when I started losing weight and was getting compliments that's when the problems began. She was no longer the center of attention as I was getting compliments everytime we had "girls night". People who hadn't seen me in a while would be in shock how much weight I had lost and some said they didn't even recognize me. It breaks my heart that someone who used to be so closed to me ended our frienship over something so petty. I'm still friends with everyone else besides "her". The other girls still compliment me on my success and even one is going through the approval process. I say if someone is jealous of you for being a healthier you then to hell with them. I'm just glad I have a support team which consists of my husband, family and a great group of friends.

You are NOT supposed to take iron unless you are deficient in it. Excessive iron stores in your body especially for men can cause a cardiac arrest. Just take a multi vitamin and it should be enough unless they find you are deficient in a vitamin. Most of the protein shakes are loaded with vitamins.

It's been 15 months since I was banded. Looking back over this entire process is somewhat of a fog. My feelings are totally different today than I remember them being initially. I was so very excited and I didn't know what to expect from the band or my “body”. I had joined this site almost a year before having my surgery so I was very familiar with the way some things were going to be. However, until you actually cross this bridge for yourself- no one else's experiences can compare to your own! Learning to live with this band and how it's going to work for you is a total different story. There were a lot of trail and errors for me and it still continues to be some rough spots from day to day. My whole entire life, I have had issues with food. I have good restriction now, but I still have to monitor my desire to over eat. When I don't listen to my band, and I eat one bite too many -I do pay for it several hours later. I experience this awful pain that you just can't imagine. I can say- that I am learning to pay attention when enough is enough for me. Really, having this band is not a quick fix to anyone's weight lost problems, but it's an aid to make your weight lost more achievable and to feel full a lot quicker or more satisfied. The key to this band is not to fell full but satisfied. There is a lot of work on my part and self discipline with right food choices. It's very easy to fill up on high calorie foods (that goes down really easy) then wonder why you are not losing weight. Unfortunately, I have been there and done that as well. I think it's really helpful to let others know that bad choices are made with this band, but you can recover from them and still be successful with your weight lost. Yes, I am a slow loser and a lot of it is because of my own choices, but I have changed a lot. I have also lost a lot of weight as well! I have learned to be accountable for my own actions and not blame everything in the blue sky for me being over weight. I've learned that working out is not a punishment, but being good to myself and overall all fitness! Most of all- I love all of the positive attention from other people. Since I am 6"1 people think I have lost a whole lot more weight than I actually have. Yes- I love the new me. I always remember why I did this and I remind myself that anything worth having is worth working toward! My beginning size was 24-26 and today I can wear a size 16-18. Yesterday was my 9th wedding anniversary and my husband purchased me a pant suit from NY & Company size 16! I was tickled pink. I've always been embarrassed for my husband to buy clothes for me due to my size, but yesterday was a totally new and different feeling! Yes- I love it!
