    Half way to goal!!!

So excited to see the scale this morning as I'm now halfway to my goal! That's still a LOT of pounds to lose but it's a lot of pounds gone too I feel so happy that I took the step to get the band. It's not all a bed of roses...I have been having gall bladder attacks and may end up needing it removed but I think that's better than diabetes, stroke, sore knees everyday and not being able to enjoy my children. Hope you are all having a wonderful day and that you are experiencing satisfaction with your weight loss.

    Surgery Went Well

Ok I am not going to lie. After the surgery I was miserable nauseaous and in pain. But the next day I felt great I a still not drinking much. Sipping on water all day. Able to get at least one protein shake down in a day. 4 tbsp of sugar free jello and some broth with protein powder. I feel pretty good today 4 days after surgery. The worst is past me. Thank you lord I finally did what I had to do to get on a health life track.Weight in today at 364.4 from 389 Pre Surgery thats pretty darn good I think.

    Newly Banded

Hey Liz, Explain the source of your anxiety? I did not have any but I am a cheerleader for those starting out. How can I help? I have had struggles and ups and downs, but never worried. For me this was my last hope and it has been a real journey to say the least. I love my new life, the energy, the giving clotes away. It is just amazing at what has been done and the transfermation to my heart and soul. I think differently, I eat differently. I really am having the time of my life, I think the liquid diet has a tendancy to make people a little down but you should be starting mushy foods and then solids, so it has no where to go but up. The postitives are, you are doing something for you, you are taking charge of your life, food is no longer the boss of you, you are making yourself healthier and adding to the years of your life. You are giving family and friends more time with you. You feel better about who you are. A new personality, the real one will be coming out and you will shine. What you are dealing with now is so temporary. The future has nothing but postitives ahead. So get over the blues, the negatives and start enjoying your new life. You are becoming the best you possible one meal at a time.! Tell me what I can do to help.

To Fill or Not to Fill

Where on earth did that come from??? I'm not in any way shape or form expecting my band to do all the work. What I DO expect is to get to the "green zone" to utilize the band as a tool to the full extent to assist me in doing the hard work. My band is half full. I've only had one fill, and the goal is to get to a point where I am not hungry all the time so that I can comfortably do this work. Did you actually read my posts? I'm actually considering very hard right now wether or not I need a 2nd fill at this point, and if I decide to have one I even said I plan to ask for a SMALL fill. I think I also pretty clearly stated my reasons for opting to go ahead with the next fill t this point: to acheive satiety, not to make the scale move. I'm just not sure how you interpreted my posts as "I'm not losing weight so I want to have the other half filled so I lose without having to do the work"

A calorie is a calorie..is a calorie Your body doesn't know a calorie from an apple any different from a calorie from pizza. If it fits within your daily caloric needs, there is nothing wrong with pizza. Don't be so foolish. The only thing important at the end of the day is a caloric deficit and ensuring your dietary fat/carbs/protein needs are met along with exercise.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a slice of pizza, Spartan! I don't see anyone talking about stuffing their faces with it every weekend! Just sayin'!

This section is the place to get firsthand accounts from patients banded by the doctor or practice you are considering. Have questions about the process? Bedside manner? Hospital food? Nurses? Post a new thread with the name and location of your doctor, and invite people with experiences to share to post. As Big Bird says, asking questions is a great way to find out things!

Funny Stuff. Some People here acknowledge that pizza is NOT a good choice for someone trying to lose weight. But look at all the people who went ahead and did it anyway. Jeez. And people wonder why the actual success rate of the lap band is so low. S.
