Hey! Anyone have a breast reduction before vsg? I went from a size or two above a DDD to a D a couple years ago. Also had the laser bra lift. Now I've had VSG and wondering what will occur! Clearly I did it backwards, but never had considered wls at the time of my reduction. In the end, whatever my boobs look like, I'll be happier thinner, so it's all good...but curious nonetheless! I'm quite the Frankenstein between my reduction and vsg scars!

I'm six months out and have only five more pounds to my goal weight! I can't see myself waiting for another year and a half- I have so much excess skin it's depressing!!!

No pics yet of LBL...still have drains and incisions...and very, very swollen. I will post pics when it looks a little prettier! Right now my behind looks deformed...but doctor told me, it is going to turn out nicely!!

Hey all. I have lost 76 lbs. I don't have a ton of excess skin...but enough to be bothered. Most of it is on my tummy, the backs of my thighs, and my arms. Are there any toning/weight training tricks you have tried to get rid of it or reduce it??

HI, I'm new here and not sure if I'm posting this in the right place Basically I got my band last June and am down ~110lbs. I think I have stopped losing weight and have been gaining muscle, as I've been in the gym 6 days a week working out like an animal. Basically I look great In clothes but out I have excess skin around my stomach, while the rest of my body is pretty tone and looks good. I have read up a little bit on here about different procedures and Insurance covering them. Unfortunately I'm not going to qualify under my insurance plan. I'm looking for some tips/advice/point in the right direction as far as my options both surgical and non surgical (if there are a…

Even though I'm only 3 months post sleeve, I'm already planning the next phase. Fingers crossed I get to goal one year post op (June 2013). I'm going to Hawaii in early September and was looking at getting the surgery before I go. Or would it be best I wait until my return? Or do I wait a while after I reach my goal before I contemplate surgery? Your thoughts?

Thought I would post some progress pics of my tummy tuck. I am loving it and so happy that I did it! Completely worth the pain and money! The garmet has to stay on for another week and a half. Right now it feels so much better to have it on that I'm not sure I can completely go without it once 6 weeks hits.

Hi, I have a question maybe somebody here knows the answer to. My goal is 160lbs. I'm 5'2 and 268. I realize that 160 is still overweight but I feel it is realistic (and my nutritionist feels the same way). Can I still have plastic surgery to get rid of all the extra skin everywhere? My insurance covers some plastic surgery for excess skin after weight loss -- will they cover it if I'm not at a normal BMI?

Inner thigh lift, lipo and fat transfer into the buttocks! $20k done in two surgeries six months to a year apart starting with the lipo and fat transfer. I would have to have the vertical scar in my thighs, but that is ok because that basically eliminates the potential of having a stretched labia. Well all of that scares me way more than VSG, and I am not going to do anything right now. I was very self conscience at the beach this summer and really just want to, for once, be free from those chains. A lot to think about. I did like the surgeon. $11,500 was just the lipo and fat transfer. I feel there are less expensive options for that. $8,500 for the thigh lift. …

I have been this weight since October and I am starting to think that 'this is me'... I will continue the Quest of weight loss, but part of me has started to accept that this might not happen now. I've gone from a UK 22-24 to a UK 14, with a total of 75lbs gone. Most of the fat that is left on me is around my middle!! My legs are ok... I have got a lot of muscle there, ss I am not too worried about the bit of thigh fat that is left - I am too old for mini skirts now...lol So, …

I always thought you needed to be done losing weight even have maintained for a while before a surgeon would touch you but I was watching a weight loss reality show and the woman lost just a little say 20-30 lbs and had a tt and then continued on a journey to lose about 70 more. I've had 4 kids (a set of twins too) so sadly i have the "butt in the front" look going I swear if that belly was gone I would feel soooo goooood but I still have at least another 50-70 to go!!!

  29. Hey all. I'm about 4 weeks post of from getting my skin removed from my tummy, back and arms. I had about 3 good weeks with only a few bad days, but this fourth week has been miserable. More pain and more fatigue. I just want to feel normal again. I want to get back out there and start exercising again. Sadness has begun to set in. Any advise or encouragement would be helpful. I thought that things would start to improve by the 4th week, but they seem to be going worse. Is this roller coaster normal? On a more positive note, I am thankful that they removed about 12 pounds of skin!

K, so I've been approved for a paniculectomy and I'm scheduled for July 13... I'm debating and researching this. My surgeon who did my band is gonna be doing the paniculectomy. I've lost 75 lbs. with the band and I'm completely satisfied. I'm at 145lbs. My doctor asked me if I wanted to get rid of the excess fat and I'm like sure, if the insurance is covering it why not? I'm ok with it or without it and currently trying to make a decision. Any insight would be helpful.

I called Cigna regarding plastic surgery and I was told that it would have to be considered "medically necessary" by my doctor. The representative was unable to provide more details. She said to just submit the documentation. Has anyone been approved for plastics by Cigna? If so, what is the process and time line? What has your experience been? I would greatly appreciate it if you could share as much as possible. Thanks!

  35. So, I'm getting to the point where I'm considering a tummy tuck. What's left of my stomach is mostly just deflated skin (looks ICKY) and when I pull my loose skin up, I have a nice, taut waistline... under the skin! I know that loose skin won't go away (it's hard to get rid of at 22, and I just turned 42!) without surgery, so... I'm biting the bullet. I'll probably wait till summer is over (since I don't want to be laid up recovering during the few very nice weather days we get here in Seattle), so I'm guessing that I'll go under the knife in the fall or early winter. I need recommendations for a good plastic surgeon in the Seattle area. Anyone know of any that they've…

Ok, I was a good boy and did a search before posting, and I didn't see this topic addressed yet. Besides the fact that I have sleep apnea and I was pre-diabetic, a good portion of why I'm doing this is for vanity. Yes, I'm vain. I'll admit it. Healthy is, in fact, just swell. But I'm too sexy to be fat. Go ahead and slap me if you wish. So my question is: has anyone had muscle implants after they reached their goal weight? Please don't misunderstand: I fully intend to go back to weightlifting after I've been cleared to do so, but I really don't want to go over 165 pounds; muscle weighs more than fat. And my sleep apnea doctor told me that if I reduced my weigh…

Okay, folks. I had a weird visit with my WLS surgeon today. Weird because he actually told me that I look really good and don't "need" to lose any more weight. I'm 245 still and probably have 20 pounds of skin that should be removed in my stomach area. He gave me a referral to the plastic surgeon and documented my tummy issues (rashes, a boil, need for powder constantly under the roll) and he thinks my insurance will cover the tummy tuck, if I choose to do it. My plastics consult is August 31, so one year and one day after surgery. I'm stunned, but I somewhat agree about the weight loss. I don't really have much more I can do except shape and tone, which I'm working o…

Hello All! I just received my first denial from Cigna for a panniculectomy. They didn't deny that it was medically necessary, just that it wasn't covered by my plan. I spoke to a fantastic rep with Cigna that urged me to appeal the decision but couldn't go into much detail about what they would want to see in the appeal. I vaguely remeber appealing for my band but it was 4 years ago and can't remember exactly what I did. The plastic's office won't help - apparently once they see there's a chance they aren't getting paid, they put their hands up. They won't even give me some tips of what the insurance company would want to see. I'm going to resubmit with the original doc…

Wife and I were talking about the possibility of donating our excess folds of skin in exchange for cosmetic surgery. A little research this morning put that idea to rest. http://www.traumaburn.org/who/skinbank/faq.shtml Skin harvesting is only done on deceased folks, primarily because of the FDA requiring a quarantine period of 6 months. Also, expensive specialists must do the work, you get a lot more skin from a whole body, etc. We are back to our defense mechanism mindset that loose is lovely.
