Hi everyone my name is lizzy, just had my VSG about 6 months ago so far I’ve lost 90 pounds and I’m feeling great!!!! My only struggle is taking down these vitamins I’ve tried it multiple different time and it all seems to make me nauseous still , from pill capsules to chewables… idk what else do I force my self to take it but I just hate the nausea part. My hair did fall out so I had to cut it short which helped and now it doesn’t fall as much , since my hair was long I felt the heaviness of it and now I just feel light weight all around lol . I do have a question though… why is that I feel cold all the sudden ? It’s winter time now in Las Vegas and my body cannot stand…

My weight loss surgery story actually started back in early 2019, but I chickened out before my first appointment because I was worried that I would have postop complications and the cost would go beyond the base rate. I gave up on the idea of weight loss surgery at that time, and decided that I would do it on my own. I think everybody here knows how well that went. At the end of the year I found out my husband‘s job would be ending, and we took that as an opportunity to try to find a job where he would have insurance that I could go on that would cover weight loss surgery. He got a job that covered it, and I joined his insurance plan, and within the month I was set up …

this is part two… part one brought me to surgery with my weight loss adventure .. (quick warning, i tried not to be graphic but an infection is referenced) now I am someone who weighs almost every day for several months but i have trained my brain to be chill about the number… just watch for trends because bodies are sometimes heavier for non fat related reasons… i have seen my body go up, down and drop drastically and rise rapidly all while loosing weight as a trend… now i am in my early post op and start with my surgery weight of 351.4 on 11/3/22 sat, 11/5/2022 - day 2 post op after first night home - i dropped to 349.4 - considering swelling and fl…

because I like to over share sometimes (lol) and just give people a window into a true reality of a very large persons journey struggling with bad habits, eating disorder, anxiety depression etc….… I have decided to show a general weight progression for my weight loss journey so far….it has been far from drops all the time, even when I was doing the right thing! My high weight was July 2021 when I tipped the scales at 456. I am starting the rest of my story in January 2022. I was taking Ryselbus for a bit and was back down to 440. It was at this time that I doubled down to start doing the mental work on my stress eating, emotional eating, binge eating and othe…

I had the sleeve in September 2020 after having struggled with my weight for years and trying to lose it on my own. I am 56 and a diabetic. My A1c has went from 7.4 to 5.7 since my surgery. I had to have a hernia repair for the second time along with the sleeve and things were going great. I was losing for the first year, around 65 pounds. Then, I found out that I had diverticulosis and have had diverticulitis4 times in less than a year. My hernia came back along with an umbilical hernia and had a gallbladder that had to be removed 18 months after my sleeve. In the 2 years since my surgery, my acid reflux has never went away and taking Prilosec and Pepcid twice a day. I …

Hello all, Lurked here for a while over the years. Figured I’d pop in and tell my story. Former professional American football player (Arena league, not NFL), played one year got injured, used my degree and got a desk job. My playing weight was 330 lb, so I was a big guy most of my life… then I got the desk job… kept eating like a professional football player but sitting on my butt all day. That went on for 10 years. Had to do a physical for work and life insurance. Weighed 390… the nurse asked me if I wanted to lay down after taking my BP 210/150. Oh and I had my first child a few months earlier… In that ten years, I had tried every diet in the book. Same …

Hi everyone! I've been a silent reader of these forums and have found a lot of answers and inspiration in here that helped me a lot along my weight loss journey. This is my first post and just wanted to first thank you for sharing your experiences and stories and to share mine as well. Hopefully this will inspire someone to take the decision. I had my surgery on 30 January 2022 and I'm glad I did. I'm going to be 40 in September and I've always been overweight. I've tried several diets, lost and gained a lot of weight. The last diet I've tried was Keto diet back in 2019. I was able to lose 25 Kg. Then Covid-19 came, the lockdowns and having to work from home. I ga…

I’m not sure why since I’m a pretty private person, but for some reason I want to share my story here. Honestly even if no one reads this, I think just writing it will help me feel better? This first thing people should know is that weight loss surgery has saved my life and I have not even had surgery yet! How? Well it’s a long and winding story. Grab a protein shake and settle in… In January 2020 (you know, back in ancient history pre-covid), my insurance changed and started covering bariatric surgery. I had thought about surgery before, but my wife was set against it and especially considering the out of pocket cost, had decided it wasn’t for me. With the chan…

It was two years after the pandemic started that I made this decision. In early 2020, I was at my heaviest and the COVID-19 pandemic forced me to work from home. By December I hit 300 pounds for the first time. Fast forward to March 2022 I was at my highest weight of 317. It's been two years of wearing gym shorts and t-shirts, working in the spare bedroom, and now we are starting to work a bit more in the office. My clothes do not fit me—my belt is too low, my gut hangs over and it’s difficult to keep my pants up and my shirt tucked in. It looks like I’m carrying a huge sack of something under my shirt. I don’t want to be in the office with co-workers seeing me l…

I wanted to write about my experience with a lower bmi because while I am about 50 lbs overweight 182 5 ft 4 inches - I haven't seen too many posts that describe the surgery with this kind of weight loss. It took me a long time to decide to do this but I kept gaining and have a history of family members who get very very obese after their 40s. I am on the same track. Anyway I am getting sleeve may 13. flyint to texas bc I actually have a friend who is a surgeon that does this. I feel good about that and I am staying with another friend. Just wanted to vent a little, I have been looking for support groups to see if I can talk to anyone about all of this, but haven't found anything. I got VSG on march 31st 2022. The first 5 days were terrible, not only did I throw up everything but also had a really annoying cough, that made my abdomen hurt and didn't let me sleep. Got prescribed antihistamines and it got better. Stayed at home for 6-7 days. Went back to work and felt dizzy, so I had to go half days for a while (I am a veterinarian, on my feet all day). Two weeks after surgery, I started coughing again, and this time literally felt excruciating pain around the area of the incisions. I got to the …

Hi, I'm new here. I'm actually looking to connect to veterans of the surgery. I had my surgery 18 years ago and at the time it was great. Doctors said I should of lost more weight. Starting weight 407 and lowest was just under 300 but I'm now up to 340 and I'm looking to get another procedure because I just can't seem to find a diet (way of eating) I can stick with. My knees are shot so I need to lose weight to get knee replacement surgery. I had my gallbladder taken out. Has anyone had pain in the upper abdomen when your bend over for about a minute? What about a side pain (my right) almost feels like I bruised a rib. Thanks gang. Look forward…

I had my orbera balloon inserted on May 20th (day of my birthday actually). Went well, luckily I didn't experience any vomiting, thank god I heard that is very common for most people. The most I felt in the first few days was stomach cramping and feeling very weak with no energy. I am on day 11 now. My stomach has been able to tolerate everything ive been eating. This past weekend (memorial weekend) I tried grilled fish and grilled chicken for the first time and it went very well. Very little got me satisfied quickly. I also had a little of mash potatoes and veggies. Honestly for me the toughest challenge has been mentally. I think most of our society revolves…

It's been a long time now since I had the gastric bypass. I've lost 187 pounds. I lost most of the weight in the first couple of years. I slowly regained some (70 pounds) beginning about 5 years out because I had trouble with my knees and couldn't exercise. I've lost the regained weight in the past couple of years by just gentle walking several times a week. I'm no longer obsessed with eating and just eat for nourishment. I weigh myself about once a month. I stopped going to my support group because of the distance after the first couple of years. I lived about 4 hours away from where I had the surgery done. There was a 2 years wait list to see a surgeon clos…

Hi I'm new here , I will be having wls this year , I'm still undecided if I'm going to have the sleeve or bypass, my bmi is 42 I carry most of my weight on my tummy , I've seen alot of people who have had the sleeve then go and have further surgery for the bypass , I know it's a tool but do people tend to keep the weight off more with the bypass ? It states with the bypass you struggle to absorb vitamins so you have to take vitamins for the rest of your life , does this work ? As I don't understand how you can't absorb vitamins from food but they give you tablets? Sorry for all the questions I'm really stuck and don't know which surgery to choose ! It also worries me wit…

I had gastric bypass on 09/09/2021 and I have lost 39 lbs. so far after 10 1/2 weeks. Is this a normal amount of weight loss for that amount of time? People will ask me how much weight I've lost and when I tell them they ask if I've been cheating. I have been following the plan but it bothers me that I'm not losing faster.

So I had my surgery 6/11/12 and this ain't working! I no longer dump on anything! I can eat more than I'm supposed to. And I've only lost 60 lbs. Started at 338 day of surgery 321 but was 336 after surgery I'm at 278 now. Its so freaking hard because I no longer have support from my husband who demands junk food fried food pop and fast food. I talked to my Dr and nut and they said don't eat it....if it was that easy I wouldn't have needed the surgery to begin with. I walk about a mile a day but that's the extent of exercise. I have 3 levels in my house and 4 kids so I'm constantly up and down stairs. Oh and the kicker I now suffer from insomnia so I only sleep 2-3 hour…

First I want to say thank you to so many of the veteran posters on here. I hope you gals and guys know how much your experiences and feedback have helped me and I suspect many others. There's just such a fantastic mix of people and experiences - It's great knowing you aren't alone in this journey. The first few months after surgery were easy. The weight was simply falling off, there wasn't anything I couldn't eat or drink - And better yet, I couldn't overeat because of the restriction. I felt fantastic most of the time, had all sorts of NSV's and loved my new life. From August until January I lost almost 50lbs - I was so close to Wonderland I could t…

Question?? Is anyone be sides my self feel like you no longer have that food restriction feeling? I can eat just about anything and everything and I don't like that. I feel like after only 11 months PO I'm just binge eating again. Sugary foods don't bother me, I'm craving for soda that I haven't had in 11 months, I'm always feeling like I want to eat something. I was doing so good and now I have no motivation to keep going. My family always got junk food in the house and I find myself reaching for the bad things again. I've lost 80lbs, and feel like I gained some back. Please no judgement just encouraging words will help [emoji3064] Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPa…

So back in April of 21, I embarked on this journey. Lots of reasons everything from the fear of losing my wife who had the surgery the year prior, to tired of the doctors and their nonsense of calling me a walking heart attack. So after going through all the hoops, and mind you because of covid I didn't have any in person classes or anything, no support group nothing, August 24th I got a gastric bypass, and came home the very next day, no pain, no complications, as a matter of fact I walked out of the hospital on my own power. Three days later I was off my blood pressure pills, I just started getting really dizzy, and that was because of the pills. Let's see that Sunday …

When I started this in 2013 weighing 258 lbs. The most I ever weighed and after diets worked (I was down to 175 in 2008 for a little over a year) they never were permanent. I'm going to burst a lot of bubbles now, neither is the sleeve BUT IT IS WHY I CAN NOW KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF. Let me explain. It is now 8 1/2 years later and I am down to 178 for well over a year now. A year before that I was up to almost 230 again. Not because of how much I ate, but what I ate. I was a carbohydrate addict. I've been living 2 1/2 years on Keto. I have NEVER CHEATED even on vacations, and we take a lot. It is so easy these days to be on Keto and eat what you want since just about everythi…

Hello everyone! I just had roux en y gastric bypass done yesterday and, when researching support groups, found out about you all! I am looking forward to exploring the threads, learning about all of your journeys, and gaining some insight into what is to come. A little about me: I'm 32, a mom to an almost 10 year old girl, and I have struggled with multiple chronic health issues for the better part of a decade. Medications for these problems added a bunch of my weight, and some unhealthy choices added the rest. My goals are to lose about 90-100 pounds, lower my cholesterol and triglycerides, and heal from some really bad GERD. I'm excited and ready to make it all happen!…

And I'm pretty good at lying to myself. I always told myself I was really good at dealing with stress. Never recognized I was a stress eater the entire time. I spent 15 years in EMS right out of college, 3 as an EMT, 12 as a Paramedic in a high performing urban 911 system. Then I went into the labor union world for another 10 years, negotiating contracts and working in workplace disputes. Now I work in Medical Insurance as a teacher/trainer/adult education special…

Hi..... today marks one week post op. Started the journey last August and my surgery was 1/27. My biggest (and most unexpected) hurdle has been NO DESIRE TO EAT. NOT EVEN A LITTLE. I called my doctors office on Tuesday bc I was extremely weak and not sleeping. Went in on yesterday and I had dropped 14.3lbs (starting weight was 264.3 and I was 250 at weigh in) Doc told me to drink for juice or something with sugar in it and switch to ensure drinks. He's worried about me getting malnourished. Said we will get back on track with the diet once I'm feeling better. I did that but the only mistake I made was sipping through a straw AND drinking while eating soup. HUGE MISTAKE. …

Thought this was gonna be easy for some reason , but nope ?. 2 days in and acid reflux, chest pain, shortness of breath that by the 4th day I’m at the ER crying ?. Well in pain anyway. ECG, aspirin, Tylenol and Mylanta given. Heart if fine - no heart attack for me which I knew. Doc just had lamb done and wicked acid reflux. Doc sends me for chest X-ray. As l stand to take chest x-rays I start to heave like I’m gonna hurl at any moment, but instead of vomiting it’s gas - 3 big beltches before x-ray. Pain level decreases a few notches. X-ray show’s gas - a lot of gas in area, starts me on PPIs and sends me home. ER for a gas attack ??♀️??♀️. Anyway went to my doctor yes…

So as the new year hits, again weight loss is on the list of resolutions. I am taking a more serious look at surgeries, especially the sleeve. Currently 33 years old, weighing in about 250 lbs, BMI hovering around 35 at the moment. Been heavy for most of my adolescent and adult life. My heaviest was 280 and I decided to get serious in the spring of 2013, lost 95 lbs over the course of 2 years and change using weight watchers and biking. Fast forward 5+ years from then, and I've gained back a big chunk. Since then, I've taken a promotion which means less physical demand, more office work, driving around for field inspections, and losing my bicycle commute to work. Add…

Had gastric sleeve on August 16th. In addition to my sleeve I also had to have my hiatal hernia repaired. But, instead of the hernia being in my abdominal cavity it was in my chest cavity. The doctor told my family that the hernia was huge but her repairs it and it was in my chest. When I talked to the doctor he told me it was the biggest hernia he had seen all year and that everything else went fine. I went home the same day as my surgery at 12:30 pm after walking having fluids go down and tolerating pain. My afterwards… the pain was real but I can’t take a lot of pain meds they make me sick. Was getting water down but if I took too much in then the pain was real. Supe…

2 weeks post op gastric sleeve. When does it get easier? I’m having trouble getting even half my water in. Part of me wonders what the hell did I do. I have no hunger at all, to the point where I have to focus my priority to take in a shake and last 2 days I can only do half a shake at a time. And the throwing up heaving seems to be more snd more often. My first post op in on Wednesday but I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through this and when I should expect to be better. I feel like my relationship with food has worsened to being afraid to eat or drink anything . Kinda low right now. Weights coming off, but now I wonder at what cost.
