what about straws?

Recommended Posts

Erin, there is a wonderful series of DVD's by a woman named Leslie Sansone. They are called "Walk Away The Pounds" and she often has weights and bands that work with her workouts, thus being able to get some strength training while you are doing your cardio at the same time. I know I lost tonages of weight when I was using those and doing Nutra Systems years ago. Check them out: Walk at Home

You can also find these on Ebay at real nice prices.

Good Luck

I'm so glad I read this. I forgot I had these and they are great for exercising at home. I love doing Jazzercise. I know that's in public, but its fun and all women, non-competitive, and all moves can be modified to low impact. Eventually if you get bored exercising alone, I recommend trying a jazzercise class. The Leslie Sansone DVDs are great, though, and all low impact.

I use a straw on occasion. I didnt the first 6 months but now I do. I would say maybe once a month I use a straw. I have this past week since my plastic surgery just easier than trying to sit up. I haven't had any problems with gas.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
