How do you know if you stretched your band?

I was banded October 29th and I feel great. I am in the mushie stage and I'm doing well sticking to Soups, mashed potatoes, eggs, cottage cheese, ect. I had my two week check up and my doctor told me to stick with 1/2 cup a food per meal or I could stretch out my band. She said I will feel hungry until my first fill but trust them It will get better. I do well except I went out to eat the other night and I have a dinner for work on Tuesday. I don't want to sit there and measure our my meal in public so I take an educated guess. However what if I do eat to much? How would I know that it's streched?

Also as a side note has anyone had a milkshake or a smoothie while in the early stages? Just wondering?
