Yes, thank you so much for the honest answers.

I know that I am not going to give up food, but it's my "blankie", and it's scary to change my relationship with it.

Guess it's like a child having to give up their pacifier.

I have done all the pre-work, jumped through all the hoops, had gallbladder surgery, a stress test, and a EGD, the rest should be smooth sailing.

Thanks again, and good luck to all.

We are all scared we may fail as we have done so many times before. I'm half way there and at a slow phase in my losing. But I'm just following the rules know the weight will start dropping again. It's the holidays and all but still thats no excuse for not following through on my part. I have not lost as fast as I want to but I have lost 35 pounds I will never put back on! So yes its a thought in the back of mind, just like having some chips is a thought in the back of my mind but if I don't go get the chip NO PROBLEM. We are all survivors and have gone through far more difficult things than this. You will be successful, I luv my band!

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have decided to do the band and my surgery date is 12/21/09. I am beginning to get excited but like Neener I feel the 'what if' anxiety and I just pray that the band will the the tool that i have needed all this time. I just feel i can not control my eating and hope the band will help me with this. I have enjoyed everyone's posts and i hope to keep in touch with you all. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!! What you are feeling is normal also. I just wanted to let you know that the band will definitely help you to control your eating. It is a tool but it does take work on your part. It's not a quick fix. Good luck with your surgery.

Aileen, You need to read the book I'm reading right now. Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Weight Successfully by Dr. Robert Sewell and Linda Rohrbouh. He goes into this "failure" syndorme right off the bat. You and I have failed soooo many times trying to get this weight off that we feel like failures. He really targets how to use the band as a weight loss tool for life. I read half of it today. Couldn't put it down. Testimonials are throughout the book too. Very inspiring to read, especially since you're feeling how you are. I feel the same way and have cheated on the preop diet too. I did quit smoking cigs though...five days now...after 35 years. My surgeon requires it!!! Go figure???? Best of luck to ya. Keep your chin up and stand strong!!!

:thumbup:I am reading that book also. It's so informative. Just can't put it down. I just talked to the psych about this same thing a couple weeks ago. I guess we all feel like we may fail once again, after so many tries. You all reassured me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
