Famous Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

There's probably alot of famous people who can afford the makeup and scar creams we can't.

_

I guess I'm lucky then..my scars are so minimal..I can barely see them with NO make up or Scar cream. My Dr. must have a fabulous technique.

And of course Kirstie Alley and Anna Nicole and other celebs would never admit to being banded - they would lose all thier endorsement deal money!!!

Why endorse another product if they have the band, none of those celebs need the endorsement money just to be dishonest

I could be wrong, but I've always understood Oprah was against weight loss surgery as is her buddy Dr. Phil.

I think celebs like Anna Nicole and Kirstie DO need the endorsement money b/c thier careers aren't exactly what they used to be but they are still accustomed to a certain lifestyle that requires money. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe Anna Nicole took TrimSpa and that's it. Maybe she didn't have the band,,, maybe she had a 24/7 professional chef and trainer that the rest of the world can't afford, but I have never know anyone to lose any weight on TrimSpa!

There seems to be an undercurrent of cynicism in this thread that I don't really understand. So what if you have the money to buy expensive creams and pay for surgery. What's the point in resenting these people? Be happy for what you have, because there will ALWAYS be someone who has more than you, and MANY who have less than you.

Sermon completed... :(

I just read the USA Today article (thanks, Yvonne!!). What really freaks me out is that if Sharon did have the band, she could really do herself a lot of damage, because I just read an article where she admits to still being bulimic!! Thats a bad combination.......

I think the resentment comes from feeling lied to. For example, let's say Kirstie Alley did get banded, she's fooling thousands of women into believing that Jenny Craig will work for them (and that stuff ain't cheap!).

I lost a huge amount of weight fast on the nutri-system really fast. Of course, I lost my gall bladder too and the weight found me again.

Hey - I just ordered the book Lap Band for Life by Dr. Ortiz, and Sharon Osbourne's photo is on the back of it.

I thought she had bypass too. Cool to know she has the band.

It's crazy. There are lots of overweight stars out there - just look at Celebrity Fit Club - I am shocked more of them don't try the band.

There are lots of people around here who've chosen not to tell about their surgery. It's really the same thing. I would have to agree that if Kirstie Alley had the band and is endorsing JC, that would kind of be cheating, but at the same time, we don't have any kind of "right" to these people's information. They have just as much right to keep their banding secret as we do. But also, Kirstie Alley doesn't really have a history of being overweight... she gained some weight (and from what I read) stepped on the scale one day and freaked out, and so started dieting. I can believe that. I have a harder time with folks like Anna Nicole who lost so much so fast, and Oprah, who lost all her weight and for the first time in my memory has kept it off this long. Even still, if they don't want to share, we're just left to sit and wonder, you know? :(

Yes I agree I think Anna Nicole had surgery . Also Sharon Osbourne had lap banding done years ago in England . She had the band adjusted when she got sick with cancer because she was loosing to much weight with the Chemo . She is a bandster , ever hear her say she hates the smell of food in her home ??? she does not cook a thing ,also she never told her family till after she had the band in .

I'm not resentfyl or cynical - I just don't believe that Anna Nicole lost all that weight by just taking TrimSpa and that irritates me that she would do an endorsement that was a lie. As far as other celebs, I totally understand people who don't want to admit they've had surgery - but I do honestly believe there are plenty of celebs and non-celebs that lie about it , so what's wrong with speculating?

I have a theory about the gastric balloon. No scars, inserted into the stomach the old fashioned way, blow it up with saline, no room for food, lose wieght fast, take it out, voila!

I think it's Hollywood's best kept secret. Gotta drop 35 for the next movie? 3 months of balooning and blame it on diet and exercise, make money endorsing a trainer or TrimSpa or Jenny Craig...I dunno. Just my opinion. But I also don't think that TrimSpa was the ONLY thing Anna Nicole took, if ya know what I mean (snifffffff). Call me bad, I'm sorry. Just my opinion cuz she ain't right. :)

My girlfriend is an actress that's done Jack in the Box, Suave, and lots of other commercials. She said the Suave screwed her hair up so bad that she had to get a professional cut and deep-condition after the job was done. She did the taco commercial for Jack in the Box and they had a trash can next to her. She'd take a bite, chew, then spit. She said, "I'd never eat that crap."

Trimspa, Baby? If it were that easy, obesity would be extinct.

What's the girl's name that plays Suki on Gilmore Girls. I hadn't seen the show in a few months, then suddenly she was amazingly thin. Now she's heavy again, but I don't know what timeframe I'm watching (maybe I'm watching refuns?) I wonder how she lost?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
