Hi all. I just had banding 3 days ago. This was without much preparation as it was a snap decision made only 3-1/2 days before the surgery. Plus, I worked 3 very hectic shifts before I caught a plane (with no sleep) to go for the surgery.

So.....

I'm probably going to have a lot of questions.

Thanks in advance for all your help!!

Firstly, welcome to LapBandTalk.com

Well I must say that was quite a whirlwind decision. Just my opinion but I think this sort of thing should have been a little better planned out. There are so many factors going into this surgery and should not be taken so lightly.

I'm sure you will find lots of information here useful to you. Best wishes to you. Your life will certainly change from here on.

Congrats on having the band, I just had mine done a few days ago to.

How did you get it done so fast? For me, and many people on here there are many tests and dr appointments that are needed.

A psych evaluation (mine took 2 months to get)

a gall bladder ultra sound

a physical

Insurance approval took months

a endoscopy (mine too a few months)

sleep apnea diagnoses

Initial visit

Nutrionalist visits

Plus your suppose to go on a pre op diet for 2 months prior to shrink the liver ( i honesty did it, but struggeled)

Mine was 11 months of all of this

So how were you able to even get seen by a safe surgeon so fast? I only ask because Im a little jealous. Hope your feeling better

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
